What Romney Supporters Said at a Denver RallyPosted on Oct 2, 2012
President Obama has defanged the military, gave his first interview to Muslim journalists and “seeks to purposefully bankrupt and bring about the downfall of America,” fans of Mitt Romney argued at a campaign event Monday. Journalist Michael Tracey attended the Republican rally at Denver’s Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum two days before the Wednesday debate between Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama, which will be held nearby. The enthusiasm on display was eerie, Tracey reports, a feeling strengthened by current polling data suggesting the conservative candidate will likely lose Colorado. It “gave the rally a throwaway feel—as if put on exclusively for the TV cameras and traveling press corps,” Tracey wrote in The American Conservative. One woman in attendance who is committed to a Romney victory said with a sadness she might not fully comprehend that she wasn’t able to contribute money to the campaign of her choice because of her husband’s medical expenses. —Posted by Alexander Reed Kelly.
