Notice given: Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is gearing up for layoffs Friday.

Things got a little lively in Wisconsin on Thursday, as news hit the wires that the state Senate had voted to allow the arrest of more than a dozen Democratic senators who had fled the state in protest of Gov. Scott Walker’s contentious union-busting bill and that Walker was planning to pass pink slips to 1,500 state workers Friday if said bill doesn’t pass by then.  —KA

AP via Google News:

Walker said he has to issue the layoff notices starting Friday so the state can start to realize the $30 million savings he had assumed would come from the state worker concessions contained in the bill. The layoffs wouldn’t be effective for 31 days, and Walker said he could rescind them if the bill passed in the meantime.

All state workers, except those in prisons, state hospitals and other facilities open around the clock, would be potential layoff targets, he said.

To James;  I hope you are right but I fear more that
you are not.  I have watched our country decline
since the early 1990’s… When Ross Perot warned
everyone, if NAFTA passed, America would hear a large
sucking sound that would be our businesses and jobs.
People I knew couldn’t be bothered by Politics.  No
one wanted to get involved. Little by little our
rights have been eroded and still the masses believe
the propaganda spewed from the TV.  Everyone put
their hopes in Yes we can and have been betrayed by
Money at every turn.  People cry out they don’t want
Socialism. I bet few even know what it means.  So
instead, we have indentured kids paying off school
loans to the banks with no job prospects.  I think a
little socialism would go a long way in allowing
everyone to live by the Golden Rule.  Treat others as
you want to be treated.

Does Walker not realize he is holding the pistol to his own head and not to the “unions”. If he indeed let’s go 1,500 state workers and has elected officials arrested for confronting his lies he will at minimum be not reelected and perhaps impeached on the first day possible. And Oh, he will never be elected to anything again in this country.  But wait there is hope for him. He can move on to Fux News.

Geez, his vitae sounds like mine except I went to work for a paycheck into my
bank account.  Unfortunately the reality in America (north america minus canada,
latin and south america—-you know the religious zealots from Europe) seems to
be in the grips of Russia and Middle Eastern oligarchs who because they can,
will.  We were warned by numerous philosophers this would happen if god was
declared dead.  Based on their “examined life” and the good life, the master slave
relationship is best for all humans, especially if you are the MASTER.  I too would
love being a master if I did not have to be chivalrous.

Grover Norquist layed out the republican strategy for destroying the public estate at least a decade ago.  Everything he talked about then is coming to pass.  His motto was “Starve the Beast”, meaning cut taxes to the point where it is no longer possible to fund social programs even including education.  I remember him telling Terri Gross in and interview on NPR that “Public education is a socialist concept which originated in the Soviet Union.”

Under Reagan, Bush 41, and Clinton the idea was to “get the poor off our backs.”  Now they want to get the middle class of their backs by destroying public education and everything which is left of the public estate.  Nobody stood up for the poor when they were being demonized and thrown to the wolves, and you know the old saying everyone loves to quote…. “they came for the Jews but I wasn’t Jewish…”

the ‘hole should lay himself off and do the state a favor. he got elected via the Koch-based tea party.
also, he and his fascist henchmen should be the ones for which arrest warrants are issued;
he should go join Gaddafi as he acts despotic like him

Let him lay them all off.  I really think American’s
don’t have a clue as to what it means to “get rid of
Government”.  Now if all the union workers, that work
24 hour shifts, would strike in sympathy…. that
would be something!  I think it would make these
idiot politicians realize they have gone too far this
time.  And maybe, just maybe, American’s will
realize this Union busting, government busting…
while sending millions of dollars to corrupt Iraq &
Afgan Politicians while also voting themselves a
$100,000 tax break, along with a raise every year,
unlimited Health care, and a Pension for life…
Maybe American’s will finally realize the propaganda
they are being fed.  Maybe.

This is a guy who has never worked a real job, doing real stuff, producing ANYTHING.
He worked part-time in Sales for IBM, then as a fund-raiser for the Red Cross.
He’s never even been the businessman he wants to “protect” or the worker he wants to screw.

He’s a college drop-out who lost a school election because he cheated.
His only pseudo-jobs have been as a salesman.
He’s never done a day’s honest labor in his life, not even a desk job.

And this is the guy who’s the expert on unions, determining that they are “bad”.

Yet this prick got elected.
