USS Enterprise Captain Booted Over Video ScandalPosted on Jan 4, 2011
Although the tawdry videos that cost U.S. Navy Capt. Owen Honors his position on the USS Enterprise as of Tuesday weren’t exactly top secret before, they clearly had enough of a shelf life to generate a fresh scandal—and to spur the Pentagon to tuck Honors away in an administrative post. Here we have The Guardian’s account, complete with a rather overstated reference to a certain popular science fiction series. —KA

After rereading the entire article, they ought to make this ass hole president of Texas!
I remember watching some porn movies while I was in the service, but don’t remember my CO being in them, though he may have been in the audience, which is fine with me,...... but I knew there was a reason why I made sure I was not drafted into the Navy!
Integrity just does not seem like what it used to be.

This obviously surfaced because of the new anti gay, don’t ask don’t show attitude being promoted.
Anyway, I always thought sailors were gay, this is why they have 13 buttons on their bell bottoms, to cut down on their fraternizing with each other?
This article makes or suggests the Capitan was showing movies to his crew, of himself in the shower with crew members?

Bravo Queenie. I think you nailed it. This clown was the top officer on the ship. He was fraternizing with lower ranking/enlisted personnel which is a violation of his position. AND he was stupid enough to film and broadcast it world wide. He should be reduced in rank as well as being removed from this position of authority.

I don’t know all the facts and haven’t seen the films, and so am not specifically attacking Captain Honors when I say this, but why can’t the Navy grow up? Why is it always the Navy? You don’t really hear stuff like this about the Army or the Air Force. Other stuff, yes. But if it’s sophomoric, homophobic and sexist, it’s the Navy.

A symptom of a lingering sickness in our culture, one that I trust is diminishing with each subsequent generation.

The military culture is as ugly as the wars it fights. Also the fact that these are career volunteer soldiers kinda takes it way out of the realm of find upstanding heroism.

Shame we have to pay a military retirement to this guy when he leaves.
I don’t advocate takeing away this guys retirement nor any other soldier, police or first responder, but the days of a 20 year open ended publically funded retirements are over.

Lovely that the Navy knew about this for years, but only took action against the jerk AFTER it went public. Disgusting, but not surprising.

I like the cut of Owen Honors jib. He’s a prankster and a likable cut-up in my book. I think the crew of the Enterprise will miss his special touch on their next tour on “booty call”.
Poor Owen’s sad story reminds me of a joke I came across in the early days when the Internet was still fun:
USS Enterprise
This is the transcript of an ACTUAL radio conversation of a US
naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland
in October 1995.
Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations
10-10-95.
Americans: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to
avoid a collision.
Canadians: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to the
South to avoid a collision.
Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again,
divert YOUR course.
Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.
Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS ENTERPRISE,THE
LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES’ ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE
ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS
SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES
NORTH, THAT’S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE
UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.
Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

Unfortunately, there are many idiots like this mentally challenged cracker in the services. The U.S. has been scraping the bottom of the barrel since we got rid of the draft. Lower standards all around.
