South Korean warship
AP / Yonhap, Jin Sung-chul

Part of the South Korean naval ship Cheonan is salvaged off Baengnyeong Island, South Korea, on April 2, lifted from waters near the disputed sea border with North Korea a month after it sank following an explosion that killed 46 sailors.

In a move that predictably provoked the North Korean government, the Pentagon acknowledged that U.S. forces would be conducting naval exercises with their South Korean counterparts as a show of solidarity with Seoul following the sinking of the warship Cheonan in March. —KA

BBC:

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said the decision to start joint naval exercises was “a result of the findings of this recent incident”.

Analysts describe the joint exercises as a statement of US commitment to help Seoul rather than an attempt to intimidate Pyongyang.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said earlier that her country was working hard to avoid an escalation.

After talks in China, she urged countries in the region to contain “the highly precarious situation created by North Korea”.

China - North Korea’s closest trading partner and a permanent member of the Security Council - has urged “restraint”.

“45 meters of water is very thin water, for any nuclear submarine, which would require at least 25 to thirty meters of water simply to cover the boat at periscope depth. No way was a full size nuke submarine involved.

Even the most daring and foolhardy diesel-electric submarine skipper would be hesitant to take his ship into 45 meters of water (in the vicinity of ships which could run him down either deliberately or by accident in those depths, submerged, and to navigate for an undetected approach, set-up and shot on a fast moving target such as this one, in those depths, would have been nigh unto impossible, as well as hair raising to even try. No way!

....The very bottom and hard line of this phony scenario presented by the “Official” story neglects one important fact.

That “Joint Fleet” exercise included a number of the US Navy’s finest and foremost anti-Submarine warfare vessels, and no, definitely NO, alien or outside submarine which was not part of that operation would have had a snowball’s chance in hell of ever getting close enough to shoot any of the ships involved in that operation. No way!

Like we can even afford to get involved with another countries business. It is past time to end the Pentagons madness and put a stop to them and all of this war mongering. America does not have the money or enough military personal to get involved in yet another war. We cannot even fix what needs to be done here in America but seems as if we never have a problem finding money(borrowing) to pry into the business of others. The Pentagon’s budget needs to be cut drastically and even if cut in half, it still would have and spend more on the never ending wars than the rest of the world combined.

And just how many other countries we have Helped and/or interfered with in the past has rushed to our aid in the Gulf Oil Spill disaster? Shows how really grateful other nations are for the past assistance given them in their times of need.

Remember the Maine?

How about the Gulf of Tonkin non-incident?

WMD in Iraq?

Aren’t two (at least) ongoing wars enough?

Beware of false flags.

This issue must be referred to the UN and the UN must do its own independent investigation.

I am no forensic expert, but from images of the event that I have seen, the propellor of the Cheonan looks relatively fresh and not stained or barnacle encrusted, while the propellors of the torpedo that is said to have sunk it looks like it has been in the sea for a lot longer.

Something is not right. We need truthful answers.

The only reason North Korea even tried this is becausse we are screwing around in the Middle East. They would never have challenged us if we weren’t spread so thin.
