Pakistani women affiliated with a religious party march in protest of the Facebook page “Everybody Draw Mohammad Day!” in Karachi on Wednesday.

From Denmark to South Park, the American whose satirical cartoon inspired a thousand copycat Muhammad cartoons on Facebook has apologized, claiming her satirical work was “hijacked” and that the resulting “Everyone Draw Muhammad Day!” was offensive to Muslims.

The BBC:

A cartoonist whose work inspired an internet campaign inviting people to draw images of the Prophet Muhammad has apologised for her role in the row.

Writing on her blog, Molly Norris said her satirical cartoon was “hijacked” and that the campaign was “offensive to Muslims”.

Other people set up a page on the social networking site Facebook backing an Everybody Draw Muhammad Day.

It sparked outrage in Pakistan, where a court ordered Facebook to be blocked.

It is indeed surprising and very encouraging to see so
many experts on Islam posting comments here because I
was thinking how ignorant we generally tend to be on
most things “foreign.”

There is no point in any of us wasting any more time on this topic. Muslims can cherry-pick their Book to support any argument in which they are engaged, as can Christians. I have little or no knowledge of any of the other hundreds of religions, or any of the thousands of subsets of those philosophies so I have nothing worth reading on the topic.

Everyone has his or her beliefs. The only HONEST position to take is… I DON’T KNOW… since there is no reliable evidence to support any other position.

But having no evidence clearly doesn’t stop millions from just hopping on board whatever religion keeps them in good stead with their peers and community. ALL religions are MAN MADE for MAN by MAN… “God” is made in MAN’S IMAGE not the other way ‘round and there is PLENTY OF EVIDENCE to support that view. No real “God” exists or has anything to do with it as far as I can tell. It’s all emotional masturbation by frightened little human minds.

Anyway… this is the last I’ll post on the topic. It’s a lose-lose proposition putting any more time into it.

Dear RAE and Friends,

Islam stands as the latest in line of the Modern religion of God which started after the advent of Ibrahim (as).

Ibrahim imparted the very basic teaching where as Moses advanced it through the commandment of Torah and people could attain certain degree of advancement of their conscious. For considerable good long time, Torah commandments remained inforce. Few more intermediary prophets also came to guide cum supervise the practices of Torah till Jesus (a.s.) arrived as the Judea reformer.

Unfortunately Jesus was rejected altogether and he is believed to have disappeared after the ordeal of his hanging on the cross. After a lapse of some 200 plus years thread of religion is known to have picked up by his followers and Christianity took a start. Some 580 years had passed after the departure of Jesus that God revealed ‘His last book of guidance and light-The Glorious Quran’ to impart the higher education and to complete His religion for the Man kind through Muhammad (pbuh).

Quran duly confirms and validates all the older denominations and expects them to come forward and join in, in order toa dvance on their studies for their higher education.

Although; after the advent of Muhammad (pbuh) and revelation of Quran; principally this becomes incumbent for the whole man kind to make positive moves to accept it but Allah says that there must not be any inhalation of older denominations neither there is any coercion in religion. Quran instructs the believers not to be inarticulate toward the old. Anyhow Allah admonishes the believers that they must spread the latest divine word; with zeal, devotion and wisdom.

Since Allah knows that how the older denominations they may behave. I will quote few verses to guide us through:
About old denominations:

[2:64]Surely, the Believers, and the Jews, and the Christians and the Sabians (the people who worshiped stars but believed in God)— whichever party from among these truly believes in Allah and the Last Day and does good deeds — shall have their reward with their Lord, and no fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve.

Islam perfected as religion of mankind

[5:5]This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as religion. But whoso is forced by hunger, without being wilfully inclined to sin, then, surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.

Muhammad is sent as Messenger who excels all others.

[4:81]And We have sent thee as a Messenger to mankind. And sufficient is Allah as a Witness. [33:42]Muhammad is not the father of any of (ordinary)man like you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets; and Allah has full knowledge of all things.

Quran is a Perfect Book of guidance and Light

[2:4]This is a perfect Book; there is no doubt in it; it is a guidance for the righteous, [16:46]“....And We have sent down to thee the Reminder that thou mayest explain to mankind that which has been sent down to them, and that they may reflect.

There is No coercion or Inhalation of any kind

[2:258]There should be no compulsion in religion. Surely, right has become distinct from wrong; so whosoever refuses to be led by those who transgress, and believes in Allah, has surely grasped a strong handle which knows no breaking. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Muslims are the best people raised for the good of mankind

[3:112]You are the best people raised for the good of mankind; you enjoin what is good and forbid evil and believe in Allah. And if the People of the Book had believed, it would have surely been better for them. Some of them are believers, but most of them are disobedient.

Regards

The Moslems are offended that any one would draw a picture of Muhammad and think that is sufficient reason to be rude and murderous?

Well I think it is offensive that people like Muhammad and Joseph Smith can promote sleeping with undeage girls and yet be presented as God’s Mouthpiece on earth. Isn’t that rather strange and yes offensive.

What is a picture of Muhammad. You can take a photo of most any middle eastern person and put the name Muhammad on it, it still won’t be Muhammad (unless it is that persons given name"24. There is no picture of Muhammad, no statue of Muhammad and not even an accepted formula for how to make an image people would recognize as Muhammad. And, yet these nit wits would disrupt civil order to protest a photo labeled Muhammad?

Frankly I think Islam should be outlawed as a criminal enterprise and that goes for Fundamentalist Chritianity too. What organizations so dedicated to bone headed stupidity, do not deserve consideration in a civilized world. Of course, I wish I could find a civilized world.

“But what happens if a contentious issue of savagery of the west like in Holocaust is highlighted and if everybody is also asked to draw Holocaust’ images? Where as in the west any uttering about the Holocaust is frantically suppressed and it is also a punishable crime. The trumpeters of freedom of Speech may go totally mum on this subject.”

Are you comparing a cartoon to the Holocaust????

The Holocaust Museum is precisely a place where people are asked, indeed encouraged, to “draw” images of the Holocaust! Look at the childrens’ wall! Nowhere in the West is talk of the Holocaust “frantically” supressed! Only in Germany is DENIAL of the FACT of the Holocaust illegal. It’s an unfortunate law and a blow to free speech, but it is the exception that proves the pervasiveness of free speech in the West.

Don’t EVEN compare Western free speech norms with those of Islam!

As I read defenses of Islam such as offered by A. Khokar and many others I am struck by the vast chasm of misunderstanding that exists.

I have read one or two books that attempt to explain Islam to non-Muslims. There is not much common ground to work with. There is not much hope we ever will be at peace with one another.

The non-Muslim religions are far from perfect but NONE that I’m aware of openly advocate the annihilation of all those who do not follow Islam (the “infidels”). It is this one attitude above all others that, in my opinion, creates the insurmountable barrier for peaceful coexistence.

Let me repeat: until the THREAT to the lives and freedom of ALL OTHERS (non believers or “infidels”) is COMPLETELY REMOVED from the philosophies, teachings and practises of the followers of Islam THERE WILL NEVER BE PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE with everyone else on the planet. There is no room for negotiation on this point.

And of Muslims think they will eventually eliminate all non-believers in Islam they’re even crazier than I thought. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

@Smudge Martens: Wht if that brain washed woman improsined in a burqa see you lying nude on the beach and have similar sympathetic feelings for you. I am not saying that what is right and what is wrong. What i want to say is that DON’T JUDGE OTHERS FROM YOUR MINDSET. There are many cultures and civilisations living on this planet. Everyone with their own way of life. If we start interfering each other saying that your way of life is bad and mine is good. This is when trouble starts. And also don’t we pride on our values of HARMONY, tolerance and acceptance of others believes?

Well my personal point of view is that we shouldn’t hurt the feelings of 1.4 billion people.

Islam has the Habit of Emerging Victorious

From Denmark to South Park, the American women Molly Norris whose satirical cartoon inspired a thousand copycat cartoons of Prophet of Islam on Facebook has apologized, claiming her satirical work was “hijacked” and that the resulting “Everyone Draw Muhammad Day!” was offensive to Muslims. US foreign office also condemns this provocation.

After seeing the large protest throughout the country; one needs to understand the Pakistani Muslims psyche which took the protestors on the streets—-chanting slogans against the perpetrators indulging in drawing the offensive caricatures of the Prophet (pbuh).
There is also a need to dig out that why after all; in the western society; every now and then Islam is depicted in most intimidating way like the one we had in shape of facebook caricature. This was yet another blow of enemies of Islam with intent to undermine and strike at the very base of belief of Muslims.

But what happens if a contentious issue of savagery of the west like in Holocaust is highlighted and if everybody is also asked to draw Holocaust’ images? Where as in the west any uttering about the Holocaust is frantically suppressed and it is also a punishable crime. The trumpeters of freedom of Speech may go totally mum on this subject.

It is widely thought in the west that Freedom of Speech in relation to Islam is a rebuttal to the notion that one should go limp in the clinches precisely because usually, Islamists bullies can punch or terrorize the western society by blowing themselves up.

The very idea of Freedom of Speech in—- its application is, as a tool of defence to target at the core of painfully incompetent authorities at delivering on their promise of freedom, tolerance, and equal rights—- which may not be just an issue of Muslim world only but—a wide suppression can glaringly be witnessed all over in the world—- particularly in the countries which have the Christian domain stamps on them.

But question still haunts that why the commoners on the streets of Muslim world like in Pakistan is found so affront, agitated?
This may be a different story that Muslim Book of Quran predicts the dominance of Islam in this world that sooner or later the mankind has to come forward to submit at the summit presented by Islam. Present day Muslims being the custodian of the Divine Glorious Book of Quran feel obliged, as the chosen one of God to strive hard in the way of God and make all possible moves to make their God happy and be counted as blessed ones.

An Islamic revolution is very much seen in its offing that western promiscuous societies fear the most.

But there is other chilling aspect of this miasma too. This aspect is seen as most compelling that although the old Colonial Raj of dominance has since departed from their lands and there is no more physical subjugation of the oppressors but while sitting on the most lucrative economic resources of the world; financially they are still tied to the bondages of the western institutions like World banks and rigmarole of IMF—-who are practically in control of their economies and daily life on the streets.

They also find that same old colonial Empire is again seen, rattling their sabres around bent upon to revisit them. The footsteps drawing nearer can clearly be heard.
Under such circumstance a collective resistance to ward off the oppressors is but natural.

“...and that the resulting “Everyone Draw Muhammad Day!” was offensive to Muslims.”

Why is it that Muslims are SO easily offended? EVERYTHING OFFENDS THEM.

Reminds me something an anthro prof said in class about how testing new drugs on mice often gave them cancer. She said “It happens so often I think mice are just cancer prone.”

I think Muslims are far too thin skinned to be allowed out in the real world without an escort. They’re afraid of their own shadows and they think like the Borg on StarTrek! Amazing how easily the human mind can be perverted when the brainwashing starts early enough. Just ask the R.C. church conmen.

“Depictions of the Prophet are forbidden in Islam.”

And I’m offended every time I see a pathetically brain-washed woman imprisoned in a burqa for the crime of simply being female – a temptress so enticing that no male can be held responsible for his carnal impulses.

My offense trumps yours because it is directed at the physical and mental enslavement of a fellow human; whereas Islam’s offense is directed inwardly, to protect the believer’s ego glorification in an imaginary entity.

And the world panders on…
