Al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Ayyub al-Masri, pictured, and Abu Omar al-Baghdadi were killed over the weekend, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced Monday that two major al-Qaida figures in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi and Abu Ayyub al-Masri, were killed by American and Iraqi forces Sunday morning.

U.S. Army Gen. Ray Odierno, the top-ranking American military official in Iraq, said in a statement that the death of al-Baghdadi and al-Masri “is potentially the most significant blow to al-Qaida in Iraq since the beginning of the insurgency.”  —KA

The New York Times:

After Mr. Maliki’s press conference, the American military released a statement verifying that Mr. Baghdadi was killed in a joint raid between Iraqi and United States forces in the dark hours of Sunday morning near Tikrit, near Saddam Hussein’s hometown.

Also killed, according to Mr. Maliki and American officials, was Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq, also known as Al Qeada in Mesopotamia, a largely Iraqi group that includes some foreign leadership.

Both men were found in a hole in the ground.

Nemesis is advocating violent revolution everywhere. It’s no surprise he would idolize these two murderers.
I’m sure he thinks Zimbabwe is a great place since South Africa is a “shithole”.

Sorry nemesis, I read an earlier Digg article on Chomsky so he was on my mind and obviously over your head. I guess this compelled you to attribute statements to me that weren’t in my post.

These two were violent murderers and got exactly what they deserved from Iraqis.

I guess you feel a need to go off on some totally unrelated tangent. Feel free if you have the spare time, but don’t forget that these men are dead because they were murderers and it seems the Iraqis kill murderers like them on sight.

Nemesis:
You praise Al Qaeda and other (islamic) fundamentalists, yet with NO actual experience, describe South Africa as a “shithole”. I’ve been there in the last 6 months, and it’s a marvelous place.  I’d MUCH rather live in South African than under the Taliban or in Teheran.

That is really all anyone needs to know about you and your weird, distorted and bizarre views.

That’s how myopic I am!

The CIA and MI6 are in charge of controlling and running crazy Muslims. Crazy neo-aryan, Christian identity groups and Nazis are domestic spook operations involving government informants- call the FBI. Expect them to neither confirm or deny. For anti-Semites in the Middle East that would be the Israeli government as their military uses DU for operations in the Palestine territories. I estimate that millions of young Jewish men will be quite sterile from the toxic metal they use in their operations. I would say 7 million men will not be able reproduce. This is a very substantial genocide. Outside of car accidents, government is leading cause of unnatural death.

Once again you demonstrate the simple fifth grade world you inhabit. “Two or three people” are no threat to the US. Was Hitler, just one man, a threat to the US? Was Stalin, one man, a threat? Mao?

Let me modify what you said a little, “There are many different ways to resolve problems and attacking [one] sovereign state that never attacked [Saudi Arabia] or [Islam] was not the way to go about eradicating what is a [non-Muslim] fundamentalist group.” How does that sound?

@ Dave Thomas:

What, pray tell, has Noam Chomsky to do with this? Would you have us believe that two or three religious fanatics are such a threat to the continental U.S. that it warrants 7 years, billions of dollars, almost 5,000 dead Americans and hundreds of thousands of dead innocent, men, women, and children?

@ ITW:

Do you sleep with a night-light? You have one of the most myopic views that I’ve ever had the misfortune to run into. It’s not an either/or world, as much as you would like it to be. I haven’t seen a single comment can even remotely be inferred as to someone thinking that any of the mentioned “bad guys” are admired or thought to be ”such great people.”

People are—rightfully—questioning the validity of the story. People are—rightfully—questioning the value in spending billions of dollars a week, thousands of American lives in 7 years, and the death of thousands of innocent men, women, and children for two or three—supposedly—top al Qaeda leaders.

There are many different ways to resolve problems and attacking two sovereign states that never attacked America or Americans was not the way to go about eradicating what is a Saudi Arabian fundamentalist group. If it was a smart choice in your book perhaps its high time the U.S. invade and occupy that rogue state Israel because it—unlike Iraq and Afghanistan—did attack the U.S. and murder U.S. citizens on 8-Jun-1967.

Whoooohaa! What a confused and smelly Wind, emanating from ITW.

***you can get the same experience right here at home -snip-  Just join up with the Pat Robertson or Bob Jones U crowd.  You can find another of those so-called “Christian” groups that are plotting murder, all right here at home.***

***Go ahead! You’ll be running back to ordinary America in no time!***

Ordinary? WTF!?

I think anyone who thinks these are such great people should go try living with them for a while. I’m not talking about Arabs or Muslims in general, but the fanatical fundamentalists.  Try the Taliban or an Al Qaeda stronghold.

But you can get the same experience right here at home without the traveling or the language barrier.  Just join up with the Pat Robertson or Bob Jones U crowd.  You can find another of those so-called “Christian” groups that are plotting murder, all right here at home.

And, it’s not too different if you hook up with the ultra Orthodox Jews, either here or in Israel.  But you’ll need to convince them you’re Jewish first—instant converts don’t fly.

Go ahead! You’ll be running back to ordinary America in no time!  When they tell you what to eat, drink, wear, say, watch, read, and think, and who to date and marry and when and how you can have sex, and when and how to pray with NO room for deviation, then you’ll understand.

Choice A:
What would Noam Chomsky have done with these two? What would such easily defined terms as “truth” and “justice” dictate we do with them. Why don’t we put Noam in charge and we will all sleep better at night knowing he will protect us with his empty, metaphysical rhetoric.

Choice B:
We kill them and let the chips fall where they may.

So I see, from your ‘near certainty’ labeling of me as not just a
christian but a fundamentalist one at that.

Your insultz seem to have gained that same kind of amusement.

The military has lost one trillion dollars in the past. Yes, LOST, unaccounted for, could not find no matter how hard they tried (as if they did), over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS. Yet, their budget this year is over seven hundred billion dollars. Is it any wonder why we are in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, all places equivalent to Death Valley in California. But how else are they going to justify getting all that money? Oh, yeah, they killed two frightening Al Qaeda guys who were found in a hole in the ground. Perhaps that hole in the ground is also where the one trillion dollars went.

Here we go again , proof once again that the al kaida are ghosts,
and no proof that they exist outside of the agendas of neocons,
who are, by the way, the real true terrorists.

Since this was reported via msnbc then I would feel safe that
also fux news and cnn carried this revelation of news and that
so many honest and scared shitless citizens can breathe a little
easier tonight as they go to sleep after saying those prayers.

Yup, third time has got to be the charm. Messrs. al-Baghdadi and al-Masri have
been reported “killed” at least twice before. Somebody in US military had better
kick those bodies just to be sure.
