Politico suggests that the U.S. is close to sharing Israel’s international isolation, thanks to Washington’s hesitation to condemn its special ally. The publication quotes an anonymous U.S. official who says, regarding Israel’s explanation of the deadly flotilla raid, “We’re the only ones who believe them.”

Politico via @ggreenwald:

For while much about the incident remains unclear, a day of carefully parsed statements from the White House and State Department left at least one irrefutable aftershock: With much of the world expressing fury over the raid, the contrast with Washington’s muted response could not have been more striking.

“The situation is that they’re so isolated right now that it’s not only that we’re the only ones who will stick up for them,” said an American official. “We’re the only ones who believe them — and what they’re saying is true.”

Not just the United States, my country, Canada shares the American position. I am ashamed of the monsters that we elected.

“Canada deeply regrets this action, this loss of life and the injuries that have occurred. Obviously, we’ll be looking in the days that follow to get all the information we can get,” Harper said.”

Canadians were on the ship that was attacked, not that Harper cares. He is a maniac fundamentalist Christian who actually believes that rapture nonsense. He supports Israel so Jesus can come back and convert them. Or kill them, their choice.

“We’re the only ones who believe them — and what they’re saying is true.”
=========================
Yes indeed this is the true sad story about America being constantly in bed with the whore called Zionist entity!

However, one can make the above statement more sadly graphic by saying that “America is the only entity in the world which takes Israeli lies and propaganda as sacred truth and even legitimize their criminal acts, and it does so at the expense of its own principles and at its own perils.”

We, or at least the enlightened among us, know that the Congress, the White House and the Pentagon are all Israeli-occupied territory, and the slavish American herd can do nothing about it; too much for the often bragged about American democracy!

But the most dangerous aspect of all this very odd situation is that American misguided politics and policies make America the most effective agent in recruiting would-be “terrorists,” who would find honor in giving up their lives and taking others’ lives with them, in what they perceive as the only open route to right the wrongs committed by Israel, which are only enabled by the American political,  material and moral (I should say immoral) misguided support for the continuous wrongs committed by Israel!

Wake up America!

There are tens of thousands of American (and worldwide) Jews who oppose Israel’s policies toward Gaza, and especially toward this recent humanitarian mission—a shipload of food, medicines and other essentials denied to the Gazans by the long Israeli blockade.
These Jews have an obligation—difficult though it is—to speak out publicly and in unison agiainsy Israel’s belligerent response.  Such a statement, though it will split that vague entity known as “world Jewry”, will strengthen the case of moderation and support the many lost voices in Israel itself who oppose the behavior of the Israeli government and military establishment yet cannot be heard—for the same reason that peaceable voices opposing the war in Afghanistan cannnot be heard in the U.s.
The governments of both US and Israel have shut themselves off from legitimate citizen opposition and are therefore blind to the evils they perpetrate.

Barbarism on the High Seas

America’s Complicity in Evil

By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

“As I write at 5pm on Monday, May 31, all day has passed since the early morning reports of the Israeli commando attack on the unarmed ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, and there has been no response from President Obama except to say that he needed to learn “all the facts about this morning’s tragic events” and that Israeli prime minister Netanyahu had canceled his plans to meet with him at the White House. Thus has Obama made America complicit once again in Israel’s barbaric war crimes.  Just as the US Congress voted to deep-six Judge Goldstone’s report on Israel’s war crimes committed in Israel’s January 2009 invasion of Gaza, Obama has deep-sixed Israel’s latest act of barbarism by pretending that he doesn’t know what has happened.

No one in the world will believe that Israel attacked ships in international waters carrying Israeli citizens, a Nobel Laureate, elected politicians, and noted humanitarians bringing medicines and building materials to Palestinians in Gaza, who have been living in the rubble of their homes without repairs or medicines since January 2009, without first clearing the crime with its American protector. Without America’s protection, Israel, a totally artificial state, could not exist. No one in the world will believe that America’s spy apparatus did not detect the movement of the Israeli attack force toward the aid ships in international waters in an act of piracy, killing 20, wounding 50, and kidnapping the rest.  Obama’s pretense at ignorance confirms his complicity.

Once again the US government has permitted the Israeli state to murder good people known for their moral conscience. The Israeli state has declared that anyone with a moral conscience is an enemy of Israel, and every American president except Eisenhower and Carter has agreed.

Obama’s 12-hour silence in the face of extreme barbarity is his signal to the controlled corporate media to remain on the sidelines until Israeli propaganda sets the story.

The Israeli story, preposterous as always, is that the humanitarians on one of the ships took two pistols from Israeli commandos, highly trained troops armed with automatic weapons, and fired on the attack force. The Israeli government claims that the commandos’ response (70 casualties at last reporting) was justified self-defense.  Israel was innocent. Israel did not do anything except drop commandos aboard from helicopters in order to intercept an arms shipment to Gazans being brought in by ships manned by terrorists.

Many Christian evangelicals, brainwashed by their pastors that it is God’s will for Americans to protect Israel, will believe the Israeli story, especially when it is unlikely they will ever hear any other. Conservative Americans, especially on Memorial Day when they are celebrating feats of American arms, will admire Israel for its toughness.  Here in north Georgia where I am at the moment, I have heard several say, admiringly,  “Them, Israelis, they don’t put up with nuthin.””

Americans will never hear from the US media that Turkey’s prime minister Erdogan declared that the aid ships were carefully inspected before departure from Turkey and that there were no terrorists or arms aboard:I want to say to the world, to the heads of state and the governments, that these boats that left from Turkey and other countries were checked in a strict way under the framework of the rules of international navigation and were only loaded with humanitarian aid.

A Day in November

Rahm and Israel

By URI AVNERY

May 31, 2010

Rahm Emmanuel is, so it seems, the American most hated by the leaders of Israel. He is considered the most dangerous opponent of the Netanyahu government in the White House. Behind closed doors, they shower him – if one is to believe the media - with anti-Semitic epithets. “Jewboy” is one of them. In Zionist usage, he is a “self-hating Jew”.

And lo and behold, here he is strolling around the Galilee in shorts. He visits the occupied Golan Heights, which foreign diplomats normally take great pains to avoid. The IDF flies him between its installations. He prays at the Western Wall. A good Jewish tourist from America.

Emanuel’s son has reached the age of Bar Mitzva; where better to celebrate than the Land of Israel, where his grandfather was a member of the Irgun – an outfit that the US administration would have branded a terrorist organization, like Hamas today.

In short, the self-hating Jewboy has revealed himself as a Zionist with a warm Jewish heart, an admirer of the IDF and a supporter of the annexation of the Golan Heights.

* * *

THE VISIT was not, of course, a passing whim. It joined a long series of gestures by Barack Obama designed to win the hearts of the Jews before the upcoming congressional elections.

It seems that at some stage, months ago, Obama came to the conclusion that he had lost the first round of his contest with Binyamin Netanyahu, and that it would be better to live and fight another day.

He himself spelled it out in a conversation with Jewish leaders: at the beginning of his path in the Middle East he stepped on some landmines. He has learned his lesson.

The result was a campaign of sweet-talk and flattery:

He invited Elie Wiesel, Mr. Holocaust in person, to a private lunch at the White House. Perhaps they exchanged memories about some common experiences, like “How to accept the Nobel Peace Prize and keep a straight face.”  Wiesel’s contribution to peace is one of the great mysteries of the universe. (My own opinion of Wiesel found its expression in a Hebrew word I invented especially for him: “Shoan” (something like “Holocauster’.)

After that, Obama met with several sets of “Jewish leaders” and told them about his unwavering support for the security of Israel, his admiration for Netanyahu and love for Israel in general. Never mind that just recently a major opinion poll has shown that these “leaders” represent mostly themselves – the great majority of the younger Jewish generation in the US opposes the policies of the Israeli government and is becoming more and more alienated from Israel.

Sending his No. 1 confidante to Israel in the guise of an ardent Zionist and extending an invitation to Netanyahu to come and visit him in the White House are further stages in this campaign.

Interesting to note the first words out of the mouth of Israel’s United Nations Delegate:  “What kind of peace activists use knives etc. etc.?” Shows how just the least bit of “self defense” ups the ante when people come at you with guns.

The Delegate’s best, first and only defense was to make the case that the Israeli soldiers “were forced to defend themselves” etc. etc.  The routine is as old as history.  “I didn’t want to do it, Mommy, but he forced me into it.  He hit me first!”

At this late date in history, with the world about to go off half-cocked on nukes (Israel included) and with a religiously-sanctioned “belief” in the “end of days” as “inevitable, God’s will” etc., we’d better think of something different—and fast—before some idiot pops the cork on the final “final solution.”

I’m talking about Rachel Corrie (whose life and death are an inspiration worldwide—and King and the Freedom Riders and Waleska in Poland and, and ... people scattered all over the globe who are looking for a way to end this sick cult of killing to get one’s way, killing to earn money, killing to overwhelm innocent bystanders, killing that extinguishes the human future.

It’s not that the U.S. believes Israel. It’s that our politicians believe they won’t be reelected unless they do what AIPAC wants. AIPAC coordinates the support or defeat of U.S. politicians based on their support of right wing Israeli politics. Work for campaign finance reform if you want a justice minded Washington.

What planet have you been living on up until now, Gerard? There have been
many, many, many non-violent, Ghandian, beautiful, peaceful, brave, unarmed

Israel has made it can and will mow down any and all protesters and that it can

Too bad (if true) that flotilla members fought back with sticks and clubs.  Means not enough previous understanding and agreement on value of the use of strict nonviolent tactics.  Sticks and clubs gave Israel the excuse it needed to use military force, instead of allowing that force to appear completely illegitimate and unnecessary. It let Israel off the hook, more or less.

But it is a beginning exercise in the power of nonviolence, its legitimacy proven by the outcries of the rest of the world against Israel.  Consider this:  What if careful planning had made this the first of similar flotillas, all carrying aid to Gaza, all strictly nonviolent, launching one every week or so for maybe four weeks.

Israel may “get away with” its irrational behavior this once—but twice or three times?  Impossible. Its honor and credibility would be wiped out if succeeding vessels were also molested and people on board shot.

Few people think of such possibilities, unfortunately. Creative non-violent engagements are entirely possible to organize, much more honorable than counter-force, which inevitably invites more anger, hence more violence.  Such ventures would be much cheaper than war.  They are also very likely to succeed, especially in a violence-weary, overwrought world looking for better answers.

”I have had one long and it-won’t-go-away-question.  Why is Israel an “important” ally of the US?  I’ve never gotten an answer.  Anyone?”

Basically the Evangelical Christian vote and Israeli usurpation and intervention of our political system.

I have asked a similar question: What benefit do we realize by having Israel as an ally? Especially since Israel has PROVEN itself a back-stabbing, two-faced, lying, ally. They’ve attacked an American naval vessel, killing 34 and wounding 171, they’ve been caught spying on us several times, and they intervene in our politics to our own detriment, and constantly rub our faces in shit by pulling stunts that embarrass us internationally.

If it’s of any consolation to you they are going to soon pay the price for whoring themselves with American evangelical Christians who—when they realize they won’t accept their Jeebus—are going to actively participate in, or idly stand by watching, while others slaughter them.

The State of Israel—a rogue nation—has spent its political capital and world opinion is quickly turning against them. Their own book of mythology says that pride goes before destruction.

Israel is not an ally of the US. The US government is not afraid to condemn
Israel because Israel is of any value as an ally - Israel is in fact a parasitic and
perfidious burden to the US.

The US government is comprised of politicians. And these politicans are afraid to
condemn Israel because pro-Israel ideologues have enormous power in our
political system and our major news media outlets. These pro-Israel ideologues
are not interested in what Israel can do for the US, but only in what the US can do
for Israel. Of course they promote the idea that Israel is an ally to the US, but it’s
patently untrue.
