The New Story: Bin Laden Was Unarmed, Was Shot QuicklyPosted on May 5, 2011
The latest version of events disagrees with our initial understanding of the raid on Osama bin Laden’s hideout. Most significantly, it appears that the al-Qaida leader was shot very quickly and without provocation (other than his terror résumé). So much for human shields. According to Reuters’ re-creation of the events, here’s how it went down:
This timeline comes from a new version of events detailed by the White House and reported on by The New York Times, among others. Here’s why it matters: If Osama bin Laden was shot without threatening anyone, then it would not be unreasonable to conclude, although we may never know for sure, that his death was an execution ordered by the U.S. government. And that is something we have a right to know about. We’re sympathetic to the difficulty in providing information on an event carried out by an anonymous SEAL team in a secret compound halfway around the world, but when we’re this dependent on the national security state for our information, perhaps we need to order an additional supply of salt. The original narrative of bin Laden’s death turned out to be false. This version may prove to be just as inaccurate. —PZS Advertisement Previous item: Israel, U.S. Maneuver After Palestinians Get Together Next item: On Revenge and Jubilation New and Improved CommentsWe are launching a major overhaul of our comments section. Actually Lafayette is doing nothing more than posting the think-tank generated talking points of the day and is thus emminently ignorable.
Read the fascist “noos” sites and you’ll see the same shite there.
S/he doesn’t even try and discuss the issues present in either the article or the comments, or argue the thoughts of any poster. Instead s/he simply posts those specially worded “points” that can be argued back and forth all day without result.
The “noos boys” need to get some of the old talented bunkers back methinks. This new breed sucks, once you recognize them.
In my opinion only of course.

” We tried the Nazi war criminals who were responsible for the cruel
deaths of millions.” Kurth
A select few were tried in the Nuremberg War Trials. However, Werner
von Braun and Hubertus Strughold were also NAZI war criminals, but
were turned into American heroes. Strughold was one of five
identified MD physicians who “experimented to death” prisoners in
NAZI stalags. Strughold worked in the “extermination” stalag at
Dachau. However, the NAZIs in the US promoted him to Chief of Space
Medicine, NASA, and named a special holiday after this WWII NAZI
criminal.
Who decided which NAZI War Criminals went to Nuremberg and which went
to Wash. D.C., Huntsville, and Ft. Bliss? And why did “The Hague”
agree to not prosecute George H.W. Bush Sr. for his war crimes?
Which group of super-rich criminals now owns The Hague? And the war
crimes perpetrated since 2000 by presidents of the U.S.A., to include
the destruction of the WTC and murder of the inhabitants ?
The F.B.I. found no evidence that Osama bin Laden was involved in the
WTC destruction, and also notified a European intelligence agency
that a Cruise Missile, NOT an airliner, hit the pentagon.
All who have witnessed the aftermath of an airliner crash know what
to look for. Absent tons of aluminum, blood and guts smeared on the
pentagon and strewed on the lawn, initial TV coverage evidenced that
no airliner crashed into the pentagon.
Lafayette does such a good job of reweaving the fairy tales and

We tried the Nazi war criminals who were responsible for the cruel deaths of millions. By assassination without justice, we only become the monster he and his ilk envisioned us to be. Every man has a right to justice and a fair trial no matter his crimes. That right is not only for their sakes, but for ours. To do otherwise is to be nothing more than a fascist brownshirt storming the ghetto looking for your next victim. It´s a sad day when people believe otherwise.

The official dissembling:
“WASHINGTON — On Monday, the Obama administration said that Osama bin Laden had been killed after a firefight with Navy Seal commandos, and that he had used his wife as a human shield. On Tuesday, the administration said that Bin Laden was not armed at all, and that his wife had not been a shield, but had rushed her husband’s assaulter and was shot in the leg. On Wednesday, the administration backtracked again. This time it downgraded its initial accounts of a firefight that raged throughout the raid to gunshots fired only at the beginning of the nearly 40-minute operation by Bin Laden’s courier, who was quickly dispatched by the commandos. What happened? In the view of officials from past and present presidencies, it was a classic collision of a White House desire to promote a stunning national security triumph — and feed a ravenous media — while collecting facts from a chaotic military operation on the other side of the world. At the same time, White House officials worked hard to use the facts of the raid to diminish Bin Laden’s legacy. ‘There has never been any intent to deceive or dramatize,’ a military official said Thursday, asking that he not be named because of ground rules imposed by the Department of Defense. ‘Everything we put out we really believed to be true at the time.’
This might be acceptable if our gov’t did not have a history of obfuscation, dissembling, spin and lies - and if they did not release a photo showing Obama, Clinton and others WATCHING THE RAID AS IT OCCURRED. If that photo was not a phony (which, of course, it was), are they trying to tell us that, in real time, they could not tell the difference between a “firefight” and a single person getting off a few shots BEFORE the SEAL team entered the building? That they did not know, in real time, that Obama’s wife was only injured and not killed? That they did not know, in real time, that OBL was unarmed?
What I don’t understand is who more people (okay, sheeple) cannot see this incident for the phony it was. Okay, they were too “shocked and awed” in the moment to see what 9/11 really was. But THIS is so BLATANTLY phony that it shows, perhaps better than anything in recent memory, the dumbing down of the American public, and their complete and absolute inability to show ANY understanding, discernment or (supportable) skepticism whatsoever.
Peace.

LEGALISTIC NONSENSE
And bollocks to this notion. Because bin Laden was not about to shoot, he should not have been shot? What legalistic nonsense is this?
He was no street-gang delinquent! He was the head of the largest terrorist group in the world, which had just claimed the lives of 10 civilians killed by means of a bomb planted in popular restaurant in downtown Marrakesh, Morocco days before his “execution”. The assailants, all captured by the Moroccan authorities, are al Qaeda operatives.
On his computers was found evidence, news reports this morning say, that he was deliberating an attack in the US by railroad transport.
Do you not see that the killing will go unabated even with bin Laden sleeping with the fish?
He should have been captured and displayed as a War Trophy? He should have been put on trial? Why give him a Media Platform from which to foment terror?
He never respected International Law, why should the precepts of law have allowed him any protection/succor whatsoever?
TRUTHDIG should explain its journalistic bias - that is, if its editorial staff has a credible explanation to posit.
MY POINT
The Biased Journalism of the Left is just as poisonous as the Biased Journalism of the Right.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
Yes, so he should have been shot slowly?
Why the lamentation over a Serial Killer? Have you people gone looney?
Or is it, rather, that you have adopted an ingrained Journalistic Mentality by which BigBrother can do nothing, absolutely nothing, right.
Yep, given some of the verbage on this blog, that is likely what it is. Is balanced, objective reporting an alien notion to you (plural)?

Lets see…
A man with a beard had the top of his face blown off, even though he apparently was unarmed and un-resisting, and the US CIA (know far and wide for its unswerving honesty) claims this to be the man who died in 2002 of renal failure - Osama Bin Laden - an asset of the CIA, trained by them to interfere with the Russians during their invasion of Afghanistan…
The Pakistanis Police and ISI had no idea OBL was alive and well and living just down the street….
The man they claim to have shot, OBL, had avoided detection from the world’s greatest techo-giant super-power for a decade, even though he needed regular dailysis for his kidney condition if he was still alive…
The body of the bearded dead man was rushed 600 miles to the coast so the navy could dispose of the body at sea in order to respect Muslim burial rites…
The 40 minute fire-fight that eventually (after two renditions) killed 22 people, didn’t actually take place, even though there’s a book written before the alledged killing of OBL, that describes the fire fight in great detail…. which was to be published in a week… and which might not see publication now….
To sum it up. There are no witnesses to the apparent execution of the bearded man and no way to verify that the bearded man was OBL, or that the bearded man was executed at the location described.
Nothing confusing here at all folks - just another perfectly executed standard CIA operation.

The original version came out so quickly that it’s
Report thispretty clear that it was written ahead of times for
propaganda purposes. Probably they put it out before
realizing that the SEALs didn’t successfully ‘silence’
all witnesses to their executions. As such, there’s
absolutely no reason to treat the new propaganda as
even remotely reliable.

@Gmonst, i agree. and it was probably a good idea, too. imagine the mess a trial
Report thiswould have been. too traumatic for the US people to risk him possibly being
found not guilty, or a mistrial being declared, or etc…all the many things that
could have gone wrong. i agree with Scheer’s statement that he was a monster we
created, and that the atrocities the US has committed in its attempts to allegedly
find him in Afghanistan are appalling, but nonetheless, amidst all of that terrible
judgement, the fact was that apparently they really were searching for him. and
from the perspective of those trying to carry out that mission, i think not taking
him alive was the best way to go about it. anyway, we’ll never really know the
truth of what happened in there—

I personally don’t think there was ever any intent to take him alive.
