The Many Holes in the Denver DebatePosted on Oct 6, 2012
The bloated Pentagon budget, the mounting ravages of climate change and governmental threats to civil liberties were among the issues that were missing from the presidential debate this week. John Andrews at Daily Kos lamented the fact that Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Rocky Anderson of the Justice Party were not allowed to participate in Wednesday’s debate. Had they been, the public might have learned that “[h]alf of Americans are living in poverty or close to it,” that [climate change] “is killing a lot more people than terrorists” and that the “indefinite detention bill, the Patriot Act and the growing spying network of the Department of Homeland Security” are making a joke of the notion of “consent of the governed.” —Posted by Alexander Reed Kelly.
