 Tennessee Senate: ‘Don’t Say Gay’ in SchoolPosted on May 21, 2011
The Tennessee Senate has passed legislation that would keep teachers from educating their students about homosexuality, with language in the bill asserting that “some subjects are best explained and discussed at home.” GOP state Sen. Stacey Campfield, the bill’s sponsor, argued that elementary and middle schoolers shouldn’t learn about gay people because same-sex couples cannot “naturally reproduce.” Some ideas are simultaneously preposterous and malevolent, and this is one of them. In the absence of information, a hateful environment is more likely to grow. The Tennessee House has yet to vote on a version of the bill, so perhaps there is still hope for the youth of that state. —KDG

Unfortunately, I live in TN, a red state where most of its voters actually vote
against their best interests. Where if you don’t go to church, you are a heathen.
Where if you’re a Muslim, you are run out of town.
It’s strange what these elected officials can muster energy for.

and we pay these ignorant a—holes to come up with more and more stupid laws? It should be illegal for them to collect a paycheck for the outrageous and stupid b.s. that has been produced by these congress critters since Jan.2011.
They all need to be fired immediately, get rid of their b.s.laws that say they have to be in office 1 year before a recall, they will do more damage.In the real work world of everyday working Americans, we would have never been hired in the first place for congress if we came out with the stupidity these political people have. Throw them out and take away allthe benefits that they are not entitled too either.

As a resident of this insane state, we should just go back to referring to us, members’ of the LGBT community, as MO’s. As in Hi, I am a MO, are you? Stacey Campfield the author of this bill is a 43 year old bachelor from Knoxville, basically he is a Mo, of course not in a good Mo way.

1. The point is not to allow people to say anything they feel is worth saying—good, bad or indifferent.
2. Homosexuaity is a common fact of life” for everybody, regardless of age. Keeping it in the closet is harmful. Secrecy prevents honesty
and shrouds one sexual aspect of humanity which results in enhancing the “evil” “mysterious” or
“disgraceful” aspersions cast by people who associate it with immorality—a pervasive allegation that is opinion, not fact, so far as anyone is able to ascertain.
3. Religion has done much to bury homosexuality and to portray it as evil, but—there is no proof that in itself it is either evil or good. Like every other behavior of humanity, it depends on the people involved. If it is loving and kind, it is good. If not, not. If it is voluntry, okay. If forced, not okay at all.
Maybe religion can come to a more empathetic conclusion in time. Ignorance, fear and suppression will never help.

I suppose it is preposterous and malevolent to say a negative word about homosexuality, or the desirability of making it a common fact of life for the youngest school children, so I won’t.
But what I want to note here is not that teaching about homosexuality is good or bad, but rather to point out the absolute contempt the writer of the article has for tradition, and anyone who disagrees with him/her. Perhaps a less us vs. them attitude would be appropriate. Maybe they are not absolute fools, preposterous and malevolent.

The kids in Tennessee are conducting a poll to decide whether to refer to their homosexual friends as ‘Ecstatics’, ‘Happys’, ‘Delighteds’, or just plain ‘dude’ and ‘chick’, as they do now, in the event the idiot adult legislators of their state are truly so stupid as to pass this bill into law.
The kids are also considering whether to adopt new ‘pet’ names for their teachers, such as ‘Dyker’ and ‘Swisher’.
They’ve already adopted their new pet name for the Tennessee legislators, but the stringent language restrictions of TruthDig prevent quoting it here.
