Tax Cut Extension Survives House Vote, Boehner’s Ire

Rep. John Boehner is not a fan of House Democrats’ latest legislative move.

According to a clearly disapproving Rep. John Boehner, the House of Representatives’ vote Thursday in favor of keeping tax cuts for people earning less than $250,000 a year was tantamount to “chicken crap.” However, that didn’t affect the outcome, with most House Democrats joining forces to make the most of their majority while it lasts.  —KA

Los Angeles Times:

The final vote was 234-188, with 20 Democrats joining a nearly unanimous block of Republicans against the plan.

The vote in Congress’ lame-duck session was a symbolic one boosted by Democrats, still in the majority, who sought to force Republicans to vote against a tax cut.

Republicans, who want an extension of the lower rates at all income levels, framed the vote as one that would raise taxes on small-business owners who create jobs.

John, you are a reprehensible human being, a misanthrope who loves only yourself.

To all of you who think that “small business” actually means small business like the mom and pop stores the repukes love to claim is false. In the real world of the repugs, small businesses include Betchel, one of the biggest construction companies in the world earning billions of dollars a year, they build the Hoover Dam and other mega project of that size. However, it has basically one owner, therefore making it a “small business” in the eyes of this government. The Kock brothers and their various businesses also are considered a small business as their companies have one or two owners, again another small business raking in billions of dollars a year.

What we have with government is a failure to communicate in terms of what is real and what is perceived to be real.

As for Boner, time to flush the John.

Tax cuts are needed in the middle to increase aggregate demand- small businesses will automatically be helped then through the increased consumption. That’s why those cuts are imperative and that’s simple Econ101. The other component however-and even a moron as dense as Reagan understood this- is that capital gains have to be taxed at the same level as income, not at the paltry 12percent where they are now.

Gee, the Democrats stood firm and won. It really could be done after all. Perhaps we might see this phenomenon again sometime this millennium…...Naah.

Rather than making it a “class war fare” issue, why can’t Dems talk about how added 700 billion dollars to the federal deficit from tax cuts for the rich would evetually harm the middle class unfarily in the form of service cuts, inflation, and higher mortgage interest, etc…, which could cost thousands of dollars per family and far more than then the benefits from the middle class tax cuts they receive?

The Democrats should have been this confrontational for the last two years.
Better to fight and loose than not fight at all.

The House just passed an extension of only the middle
class tax cuts, by a comfortable margin. There are now
229 votes in favor. Recall that one key argument
against holding the vote before the election was that
Dems might lose. And maybe moderate Dems would have
been more reluctant to vote Yes before facing voters.
But I doubt it. It’s far more likely that when it came
down to it, enough Dems would have voted Yes to pass
it. More proof that punting on the earlier vote was a
profound error.

We get this FASCIST PIG because of Pelosi’s “...off the table” stance. Just think where we would be today if justice had been served.

Both parties can take their effing tax cuts and shove them. They aren’t buying my support. I’m going Green until the Socialists make a comeback. As if.

Another point about taxation to “small business” that would be hurt by tax cuts not received because they are over $250K dollars. Let them prove how bad they are hurting by submitting to an audit by the IRS. There are many people who didn’t make the cut for being employed, yet you still won’t approve extensions for unemployment they contributed to. Pardon my non-sympathy for your having to face those small business owners to explain how you couldn’t protect them. Bet it’s a smaller task then the many people that have to be faced to tell them they are indigents who milk this country dry. Damn unemployed and retirees. Good Luck Boehner, maybe your Senate buddies will bail you out?

The illogical stupidity that ‘small business’ is being taxed over 250,000 exposes the Reps hypocrisy, namely their complete indifference to small business not to mention the financial well-being of 98% of Americans. What despicable jack-asses.

John Boehner, you were recorded saying “if you had to, of course you would vote for middle-class tax cuts”. Well, let me quote you further,“HELL NO YOU WON’T”. You didn’t either and egg is all over your face. I’m sure you will have retaliation somewhere down the line and will get great satisfaction for it. After all, if we don’t play the game by your rules, you’ll take your bat & ball and go home. Dear John, GO HOME!!
