Statement From Tea Party Express on Arizona Shooting

Email this item Email    Print this item Print    Share this item... Share

Posted on Jan 8, 2011
teapartyexpress.org

The following statement was released by one of the more prominent tea party groups in response to the Saturday shooting in Arizona that killed six people, including a federal judge, and injured 12 more, including a Democratic congresswoman.

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer issued the following statement today:

“We at the Tea Party Express are shocked and saddened to hear about the terrible tragedy that took place in Tucson today. It is appalling that anyone would commit such unthinkable violence against Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford[s], her staff, a sitting federal judge and the many other victims and families impacted.

“These heinous crimes have no place in America, and they are especially grievous when committed against our elected officials. Spirited debate is desirable in our country, but it only should be the clash of ideas. An attack on anyone for political purposes, if that was a factor in this shooting, is an attack on the democratic process. We join with everyone in vociferously condemning it.

“Our thoughts and prayers will be with all those affected today as the details unfold.”

to Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer this is not identified as spirited dialog…

and ...very well said, inherit the wind.
‘But using military and criminal “cool” phrases for killing “Taking out” “recall with bullets” “in the cross-hairs” has just yet again moved from metaphoric to literal.  I don’t know of anybody on the Left side of the fence doing that with regularity, or even at all.  But lots of talk-radio, Fox Noise, and TeaParty backers and candidates do, all the time.’

http://twitpic.com/3oj7fm

conservatives: so you who are making excuses, using every defense mechanism in the book for not accepting a very obvious and direct responsibility in this tragic occurrence…
you know who you are.

you can not joke, use poetic license, think of it as spirited dialog…(what dark spirit are you referring too here?) regarding putting cross hairs on an individual, and then when it happens, even begin to think you had nothing to do with this? wow. there is a well known, proven consciousness field that we all tap into. there is a power to suggestion. jesse kelly was a tea party candidate, he was wrong, tea party backing of him/this is wrong, tea party excuses are wrong… so as bill hicks says, stop with your internal dialog, but bill the consti… and shut the fk up! you are wrong, admit it, get over it, shut the fk up… you are wrong. apologize!
this is a direct result of palins map, comments, and other references of violence directed towards a group; and in the case of gifford an individual.  this is a direct result of the people who are easily identified conservative public figures.they better/have to get accountable, for any healing to take place. period.!

there are people involved here who have to get right with their god. most definably.
if it was anybody else’s cross hair map besides sarah palin, they would be held on suspicion (without warrant) for investigation of murder and assault, for with evidence, as well as jesse kelly, as well as a possible conspiracy… everyone knows what an idiot palin is…so i doubt there will be charges? no genuine political candidate with a brain puts a map like that on facebook or where ever…seriously?

stop with your excuses and see your responsibility. we all do. thank you for hearing me out per se.

ps: how many other developing minds have been exposed to the unacceptable ...the shooter also a victim… remains unforgivable, when he is doing only what was suggested. someone said charlie manson didn’t kill anybody he just told who to kill… he is doing life as he should be.

A San Francisco man upset with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s support of health care reform pleaded guilty to threatening the Democratic congresswoman and her family, calling her directly on March 25 and threatening to destroy her Northern California home if she voted for health care reform.

In July, a California man known for his anger over left-leaning politics engaged in a shootout with highway patrol officers after planning an attack on the ACLU and another nonprofit group. The man said he wanted to “start a revolution” by killing people at the ACLU and the Tides Foundation.

During his campaign effort to unseat Giffords in November, Republican challenger Jesse Kelly held fundraisers where he urged supporters to help remove Giffords from office by joining him to shoot a fully loaded M-16 rifle. Kelly is a former Marine who served in Iraq and was pictured on his website in military gear holding his automatic weapon and promoting the event.

I do think that speech which implies fairly strong ‘second amendment solutions’ of violent government overthrow is inciteful and bears a burden of responsibility. I’ve heard such wakco threats from Tea Patiers and Sarah Palin in particular with her ‘lock and load’ redneck stupidity.

As unpleasant as it is, digging into someone’s past to find dirt is a legitimate campaign tool.  It’s not illegal and it is easily controlled by the “free market” and what the voters do.  It actually backfired in Kentucky when used against Rand Paul.

But using military and criminal “cool” phrases for killing “Taking out” “recall with bullets” “in the cross-hairs” has just yet again moved from metaphoric to literal.  I don’t know of anybody on the Left side of the fence doing that with regularity, or even at all.  But lots of talk-radio, Fox Noise, and TeaParty backers and candidates do, all the time.

A terrible human tragedy. It’s ironic that these
kinds of events happen almost weekly or daily just
south of Arizona, like yesterday in the rich tourist
haven of Aculpulco, where 15 bodies were found at a
shopping area decapitated! Just another day in the
neighborhood..eh? So now we are so shocked to see
this event close to the southern border. Seems like
folks still think the USA is akin to Mayberry RFD.

So really, why are we so numb to the horrendous
violence going on daily just south of the border?
Indifference? Selective ignorance? Political greed?
Doesn’t it follow that this violence left unchecked
will permeate and poison our southern border states
first? The US gov has shown faint concern in protecting the border and it’s citizens who live nearby. This is also a shameful example of a govenment who cares for the common good of it’s citizens.

Hard to find any reason for this. Gillfords’ sure doesn’t appear to

one putting a spot light on her and that for just getting her

But as screwed up as the government(at least as far back as

this country to be taken over by people who are responsible for
the financial diasaster we are experiencing, that sure gives
plausible causation for him doing what he did. Not to forget he

Everybody there knows that all those 9 year olds are packing (darn younger generation),and the word is out on those judges about what they keep under those robes. Why would anybody affiliated with the Tea Party, or who lives in Arizona even, feel they needed to take blame for something they didn’t do. After all, it’s the guns that kill people not people with rhetoric in debate(?). Those darn Democrats were probably speaking again about stopping the Arizona Death Squads by trying to get those GOP people in charge to spend funds on getting organ transplants for the dieing people. How dare them when they should realize that those organs might be needed for those with guns in case they shoot themself while cleaning them or something. Unless you live in Arizona you just won’t understand. What, does everybody think this is like Columbine? No, this is the Tea Party of Arizona (and the World). Besides, this is America and we need those guns to protect us from attack by Al-Quaeda or Hazbullah or those darn Hispanic people sneaking across the border, and we don’t want to make the NRA mad or raise the ghost of Ben-Hur either. This guy isn’t a lone crazy—they are looking for an accomplice, a 50 year-old guy, who sent this young fanatic to die…Only he doesn’t speak Arabic, Pashtun or Urdu, and he isn’t Muslim, or brown-skinned.  No, he’s an all-American terrorist, who has been encouraged in his crackpot views by Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and all the others who advocate violence by remote control.

With every violent outburst in America involving handguns, it is sad/amusing to watch the gun nuts and their corresponding politicians rationalize the continued need to allow American citizens to purchase, own, and use a weapon which is designed to take human life.

But I suppose to be fair, it’s easy to say I wouldn’t want a handgun when I live in Canada, where even Windsor (across a bridge from Detroit) managed to enjoy a year without a single murder case.

Perhaps, Americans should work on outlawing automatic assault rifles and work their way down to mere handguns. Baby steps. But instead we’ll enjoy watching as Americans live in willful ignorance of the fact that they kill each other with guns more than any other state in the Western world and the fact that they are subject to laughable restrictions is the primary factor.

Good luck disarming your militias.. or adjusting the Constitution to modernize the right to bear arms.
