Solar Panels to Add Power to the White HousePosted on Oct 5, 2010
It’s time someone tended to the pressing issue of how the White House gets its power, and President Obama has apparently caved to special interest groups urging him to take the radical step of reinstalling solar panels on the roof at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Yes we can! —KA

You’re probably right about Reagan’s motive. But I don’t know. He never told me.

The oil is running out, even though the oil companies just go on pretending it isn’t, and the carbon pollution is not going to go away so every leader who is actually a leader should be trying to put alternative energy in place. Leading by example is a good idea. Nothing Reagan did would ever surprise me: a man of total stupidity with the foresight of a tick and the morals of a stockbroker.

What’s the “caved to special interest groups” phrase all about. “Caved” generally implies “gave in under pressure” and “special interest” is a generally negative term implying “not in everybody’s interest”, “in the interests of a few special people” etc.
Report thisI don’t know who KA is, but I do know that such more or less subtle prejudicial language is a hallmark of the Heritage Foundation, known for its
pernicious coservatism. An energy and environment scholar at the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank whose representative says: “Obama wants taxpayers to pay for solar panels that, without current federal tax credits, most homeowners wouldn’t buy” adding the clincher-threat: “If these are wonderful ideas, you don’t need to force people to do it,” Kreutzer said.
Like who’s forcing anybody? And like, why drag “current federal tax credits” into it? Anything for a mean dig in the ribs.

Yeah, Rico. It at least shows the man inside is aware that free energy from the sun is better than burning a bit more fossil fuel.
Why DID Ronald Reagan take down those solar panels if not to shit on the entire energy conservation idea?

Carter put them up. Reagan took them down.
