Slavoj Zizek: The Problem Is Capitalism

Slavoj Zizek.

The problem facing humanity today—especially those taking to the streets in protest—is an economic system that encourages and rewards greed, says the Slovenian philosopher and cultural critic. And leaders who tell us to look elsewhere are merely creating distractions.

In keeping with his trademark style, Zizek uses an obscure, Soviet-era joke to make his point below: Capitalism amplifies and drives greed to the point of consuming everything it touches, including itself. Capitalism is the true enemy of Occupy Wall Street, he says, though most Occupiers already seem to know that. —ARK

Slavoj Zizek in The Guardian:

The first two things one should prohibit are therefore the critique of corruption and the critique of financial capitalism. First, let us not blame people and their attitudes: the problem is not corruption or greed, the problem is the system that pushes you to be corrupt. The solution is neither Main Street nor Wall Street, but to change the system where Main Street cannot function without Wall Street. Public figures from the pope downward bombard us with injunctions to fight the culture of excessive greed and consummation – this disgusting spectacle of cheap moralization is an ideological operation, if there ever was one: the compulsion (to expand) inscribed into the system itself is translated into personal sin, into a private psychological propensity, or, as one of the theologians close to the pope put it:

“The present crisis is not crisis [sic] of capitalism but the crisis of morality.”

Let us recall the famous joke from Ernst Lubitch’s Ninotchka: the hero visits a cafeteria and orders coffee without cream; the waiter replies:

“Sorry, but we have run out of cream, we only have milk. Can I bring you coffee without milk?”

Was not a similar trick at work in the dissolution of the eastern european Communist regimes in 1990? The people who protested wanted freedom and democracy without corruption and exploitation, and what they got was freedom and democracy without solidarity and justice. Likewise, the Catholic theologian close to pope is carefully emphasizing that the protesters should target moral injustice, greed, consumerism etc, without capitalism. The self-propelling circulation of Capital remains more than ever the ultimate Real of our lives, a beast that by definition cannot be controlled.

A good question of course, Henri. Not 100% on-base with the premises of the question - that we are even witnessing capitalism (I say we are not, for it is Fascism, corporate rule) but side-stepping that issue ... WHERE ARE THE MORALS? How far astray are we?

Good question, of course. I hope we can face this all together properly. Despite my push that both capitalism and socialism are good, they are ECONOMIC systems, not MORAL systems.
Each one seeks efficiency & survival by different means. Neither one of them teaches you to cherish your neighbors or community, and that’s more than merely “doing no harm” or “trading efficiently” or “having a social safety net”.

I hesitate to intrude into what seems to have become a personal feud, replete with to my mind irrelevant personal abuse, but let us return to what I believe to be Mr Žižek’s main point : «Likewise, the Catholic theologian close to pope is carefully emphasizing that the protesters should target moral injustice, greed, consumerism etc, without capitalism.» These appeals to look into the depths of the human heart - particularly one’s own - appear even on Truthdig commentator threads and, IMHO, are, here as elsewhere, designed to divert our attention from the structures that are destroying the capitalist system from within. Those interested in this matter might want to ask themselves whether the «hearts» of our corporate leaders really were purer and less greedy in the days before Glass-Steagall was repealed….

The obvious conclusion is that if the loss-chasing Martingale traders cannot resist blowing up even with the zero-interest rate policy and an unfettered fiat liquidity backstop, then perhaps this system is fundamentally weak. Alas, no. I think that the conclusion that the clueless schmucks at the Fed have reached is that poor Wall Street needs not only a lender-of-last-resort, but a counter-party-of-last-resort. If you broke your trading book doubling or quadrupling down on horseshit and are sitting on top of a colossal mark-to-market loss, why not have the Fed step in and take it off your hands at a price floor in exchange for newly “printed” digital currency? That’s what the 2008 bailouts did.

Only one problem: eventually, this approach will destroy the currency.

HERE’S THE REAL STORY which anyone can read is true from me:
when people have individual rights to own & trade AND when people work collectively together,
THIS IS SOCIALISM AND CAPITALISM

Any time you remove the collective action it’s ONLY captialism
any time you remove the individual ownership & trade it is SOCIALISM ONLY

Any time you combine both IT IS SOCIALISM AND CAPITALISM.

“This is why we have luxury taxes (disincentives for flagrant waste and hubris).  It is why”

There is no need for a luxury tax. Taxes are often misused and allocated nowhere the tax-paying voters SAY they are to be allocated. This is a much better solution:

part 1:
budgets for tax-dollars: make it all like a trading platform so NO voting body outside the VOTERS can move the payments into each budget. Movement between budgets should take no more than 0.0001 seconds per movement of fund EVER. We can do that with stock-trading, we can do it with budgets in government money which is the PEOPLE’S MONEY.

part 2: make it illegal to do a luxury tax. Absolutely banished and a criminal act to attempt it. Instead make sure that EVERY person is able to get ownership of ANY factory that produces these luxury goods for the stupidly-rich and returns at least a 25% dividend per share.

Now think about that: why ever waste time taxing when you can give a dividend to anyone holding shares? Those shares could even be donated to people who are poor but use the dividends to help make ends meet then pass on the shares when they are not so bad off. Just keep people aware.

This would be far more helpful to stopping poverty, and far less wasteful than any luxury tax system.

The crime: stealing homes, land, trillions of dollars

“The laundering of trillions of dollars of U.S. taxpayer money—and the wrongful taking of the homes of those taxpayers—was known by the Administration and expressly supported by it. Evidence uncovered by the plaintiffs revealed that the Administration ignored its own agencies’ reports—and reports from the Department of Homeland Security—about this situation, dating as far back as 2010. Worse, the Administration purported to endorse a ‘national bank settlement’ without disclosing or having any public discourse whatsoever about the thousands of foreign tax havens now wholly owned by our nation’s banks. Fortunately, no home owner is bound to enter into this fraudulent bank settlement,” stated Eric J. Wittenberg of Columbus, Ohio—a noted trial lawyer, author and student of US history—on behalf of plaintiffs in the case.

One one hand, Justin advocates killing banksters, then turns around and says they own what they stole.  A=~A ?

Here Ed, is perhaps the power play that needs made on occasion….....

Any human being who is making 10’s of millions per annum has achieved it through the work of OTHERS.  Often, through mis-use of others.  Above some point, neither the wealth (or money) is theirs, they don’t ‘own’ it, they have a responsibility to society to hold it and invest wisely at the very least.  When the invest to the detriment of all, in financial schemes, or in earth-killing (polluting) ventures, they no longer deserve to hold that wealth, and governments are elected precisely to alleviate them of it.

Wealth is a privilege with responsibility.  Yes, some privileges come with handling wealth responsibly, on the other hand, The uber-wealthy are not “privileged”.

This is why we have luxury taxes (disincentives for flagrant waste and hubris).  It is why we should have a very progressive income tax, and it is why 2nd and third generation losers should not be able to control extremely large inheritances unless they can manage the investments in a socially responsible way.  This sort of mis-management devalues ALL money and perhaps even all wealth.

I think it has become blindingly obvious Justin Case is the fraud, the poser.  A careful balance of well regulated socialism and capitalism is required, with neither getting the upper hand.  But the moron fails to recognize reasonable limits of ‘ownership’, and obligations to the larger society.  I’d expect nothing less from a violent frustrated social reject.

Now, I’m taking a break from this nut-house forum, I have for more interesting diversions to attend.  Ed, and/or others: email me privately if you wish to continue a conversation.  I assume you’ve all gone to your personal control panel by clicking on your user name at the top of this page?  There is a private internal TD email function there which does notify your regular email, but keeps it hidden so you can choose to reveal it or not.  A very nice feature.  For now…...bye bye Justin.

What logic.  The banksters steal it, they own it?

‘own’ is not the same as ‘posses’, which is not the same as ‘earned’.  If the banksters ‘stole’ wealth it should be recirculated in a way that does not destroy it.  Productive infrastructure.  Education, and strong social fabric built on retirement security, and productive people paying their proportionate share to nurture the young and support the old.

Wednesday, May 2, 2012 Bill Black: Geithner Channels Greenspan and Airbrushes Fraud out of our Crises

We found that there was a distinctive fraud pattern, that the frauds used accounting as their “weapon of choice” (a metaphor that we also developed in parallel to Wheeler and Rothman), and that they followed a fraud “recipe” that was a “sure thing.”  The recipe had four ingredients:

1 Grow like crazy
2 By making really crappy loans at a premium yield
3 While employing extreme leverage, and
4 Providing only trivial allowances for loan and lease losses (ALLL)

The recipe produced three sure things.  The S&L was certain to report extreme (albeit fictional) income in the near term, the CEO would ensure that the S&L adopted a plan of executive compensation that would turn the fictional reported income into real wealth to the CEO, and the S&L was certain to suffer catastrophic losses because the loans had a negative expected value when made.

What this kind of poster is going to accomplish is to drive people away from the discussion forums, and I am comfortable saying this is his goal.

I think we (Ed??  Anyone else) should go back to other TD articles which appear dormant, and see if we have numb-skull shills like Justin monitoring them to tamp out any ongoing discussions.  One thing seems certain….....these people are attacking truly open forums like TruthDig.  It’s a low level sort of human based DOS attack, if you can call these right-wing faithful human.  They’re more like little robots.

Don’t let them have it Ed,  just keep posting little bits of ‘capitalism sucks’, and ‘ignore Justin Case’ stuff.  Also we need to get the website operator to allow users to completely block other users such that the posts of the blocked user does not show up in the list of ‘comments’.  That is, each user would have a customized list of comments.

Geithner’s first claim is that “most financial crises” are caused by non-criminal acts.  “Stupidity” is the lead cause of financial crises, compounded by “risk-taking and greed and recklessness.”  Fraud does not even make Geithner’s list of contributing factors to financial crises.  The U.S. has experienced three recent financial crises – the S&L debacle (which is the subject of this first installment), the Enron era frauds, and the ongoing crisis.  Accounting control fraud is the leading cause of each of the crises.

Amonix was one of 16 companies (out of 27 overall) listed in Doerr’s “green-tech” portfolio to receive some form of federal support under Obama.

Kerry purchased—through family trusts—between $30,000 and $100,000 worth of shares in a number of KPCB investment funds, including its “Green Growth Fund,” and continued to purchase shares throughout 2010, according to the Senator’s financial disclosure forms.

Kerry is one of several lawmakers prominently featured in Throw Them All Out *, Peter Schweizer’s landmark book on how elected politicians exploit their privileged positions to enhance their personal wealth.

The Massachusetts Senator’s most dubious trading activity coincided with two major political events—the financial crisis of late 2008 and the passage of President Obama’s controversial healthcare overhaul in March 2010.

* http://www.amazon.com/Throw-Them-All-Peter-Schweizer/dp/0547573146

Kerry was one of at least 10 Senators to trade financial stocks just days after a Sept. 16, 2008 meeting between Treasury Sec. Henry Paulson, Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke, and leading members of Congress to discuss the increasingly dire state of the financial markets.

In mid-October 2008, as the Treasury was discussing which banks would be bailed out in the Trouble Asset Relief Program (TARP), Kerry bought up to $550,000 worth of Citigroup stock and up to $350,000 worth of Bank of America shares. Days later, the American public learned that Citigroup would receive $50 billion from the TARP fund and up to $277 billion in additional loan guarantees. Bank of America also received $50 billion from TARP.

The problem is fraud & warlords-banksters, not Capitalism. The G20 are the Supreme Overlords. They are the ENEMY

http://us1.irabankratings.com/pub/IRAMain.asp
It’s All About the Fraud: Madoff, MF Global & Antonin Scalia

“In this issue of The Institutional Risk Analyst, we return to the Lehman Brothers, Madoff and MF Global bankruptcies to talk about how the largest banks have wired US bankruptcy laws to their own advantage. Specifically, the 2005 changes to the bankruptcy code, combined with the traditional American caution regarding pre-judgement restraint on the parties surrounding a bankruptcy, has provided American banks with a free pass to facilitate fraud with no accountability.

On May 17th, IRA co-founder Christopher Whalen is making a presentation to the economic advisory committee of FINRA entitled “Policy issues regards customer account protection and bankruptcy.” This edition of The IRA is meant as a background to that discussion, which unfortunately is closed to the public.”

‘You may also read our earlier comment, “Should the Courts Appoint an Equitable Receiver for Bank of America?,” where we argue that the degree of obvious fraud present in the operations at BAC and Countrywide justifies the appointment of a federal receiver _now_ to run the bank.  ’ (URL http://us1.irabankratings.com/pub/IRAstory.asp?tag=505 )

“In the 1920s and 1930s, when financial fraud reached an apex, the Courts were not afraid to empower bankruptcy trustees also as receivers in order to protect the public from various types of criminality in existence at that time. In the landmark 1925 case Benedict v. Ratner, where Justice Louis Brandeis laid down the law on collateralized borrowing, the bankruptcy trustee in the underlying case was also appointed as a receiver.

The difference between a trustee and receiver is very significant. The trustee in a bankruptcy represents the estate and has no power to pursue other parties nor to make decisions affecting equity.”

“As a result of these two defenses working in tandem, today financial institutions can aid frauds such as Madoff and MF Global, to mention just a few, without being brought to task in civil proceedings. Because the federal courts and other agencies still do not recognize fraud as the paramount problem facing the US economy, the victims of the fraud are left defenseless.”

excerpt:

The Fed is destroying the capital market by pegging and manipulating the price of money and debt capital. Interest rates signal nothing anymore because they are zero. The yield curve signals nothing anymore because it is totally manipulated by the Fed. The very idea of “Operation Twist” is an abomination.

Capital markets are at the heart of capitalism and they are not working. Savers are being crushed when we desperately need savings. The federal government is borrowing when it is broke. Wall Street is arbitraging the Fed’s monetary policy by borrowing overnight money at 10 basis points and investing it in 10-year treasuries at a yield of 200 basis points, capturing the profit and laughing all the way to the bank. The Fed has become a captive of the traders and robots on Wall Street.

They seem to sense — perhaps more clearly and subtly than many consistent defenders of laissez-faire — that gold and economic freedom are inseparable…”

Billions is crazy.  But, it happens.  The over-arching question is: in who’s hands should wealth reside?  If you think it should reside evenly distributed, I have news for you: many many people will piss it away, never to be rebuilt.  Same as the glitteratzi, who also shouldn’t hold wealth.  Same as lousy governments which can also piss it away.  Wealth has to be held and invested responsibly if future generations are going to benefit from the efforts of their ancestors.

So there’s your question, how to determine at any given period in time who is responsible enough to hold and reinvest wealth in the way that brings the least misery to the world.  Feel up to that one?

Lauren Templeton: Methods Sir John Templeton Used to Take Advantage of Crisis Events

“Sir John Templeton went to Yale and paid his tuition by taking three jobs and playing at poker tables. He visited 40 countries after college. His mother thought he was dead while he was traveling. Eventually he came back with a much better understanding of the world. This laid the foundation for him as a global investor. At the eve of World War II, he borrowed $10,000 and bought all 140 stocks under $1 on the NYSE. He lost money on only four of them. He turned the money into $40,000. “

“Bull markets are born on pessimism, grow on skepticism, mature on optimism and die on euphoria. The time of maximum pessimism is the best time to buy and the time of maximum optimism is the best time to sell.”

“According to this morning’s paper we also learn that millions of the long term unemployed are being cut off from recieving unemployment benefits.”

Sorry for your luck, Ed. Sadly this is the intended result from robbing people of their savings using money-printing inflation and making people into debt-slaves AND worst of all with housing prices - people can’t sell a home to move even if moving would get a job. That’s what the housing bubble did, induced by the anti-capitalist Federal Reserve.

My solution was to have no debt and to keep savings and to be ready to use unemployment-collection only after savings are gone IF it comes to that.

“This will result in a unemployment rate that looks better as we approach the next election since people who no longer recieve benefits are not counted as being unemployed”

Indeed this is correct. The real stats needed are the Employment Participation numbers & also the Non-Farm payroll numbers NOT adjusted seasonally by the BLS “Birth/Death model”.

“On the social front we also learn of another little disaster that comes along with living in a capitalist oriented society….the number one cause of death among pregnant women in the U.S. is domestic homicide.”

This is completely impossible. Capitalism has never induced such a thing and can not induce such a thing. No one’s handing people money to commit domestic homicide. Until you can prove people are paid to do it, capitalism has nothing to do with it.

“A good number of these deaths no doubt result from the male fretting about how he is going to provide for another mouth to feed when he has no prospects of a job and is having trouble feeding himself. “

If you want to prove that you need to diverge to “murder/suicide” not just the broader “domestic homicide” because that’s what does happen. Gerald Celente has said so himself quite a bit (Trends Research Journal). People can just as easily walk away from each other and with more ease, and can also easily refuse to pay the debts demanded of them.

Capitalism is NOT socialism but they do overlap.
Right wing is left wing and both are evil fraud designed to make sheeple kill each other and steal from each other.
Only by dismissing the evil right wing and evil left wing can you be free of mind and build a real future.

The G20, the IMF, that is your real enemy. They are enemies of workers, enemies of investors, enemies of capitalism, enemies of socialism and enemies of all freedom.

“but is a reported fact that many elderly include dog food in their diets because it the only way they can afford protien. “

Cat food too, though I’ve heard nothing of the salmonella. I can only hope people can still afford the fuel to cook with. On the bright side the Socialist government of Hugo Chavez actually donates heating oil to many homes across the United States to assist very much with this need. Cooking will kill salmonella.

Apparently you don’t know the definition of “unfettered”.
Today we have no such thing.
Today we have no capitalism. We only have government induced mergers. Every merger is controlled by tight regulations and bought regulators (bribed). They decide winners and losers AGAINST the market.
That’s the lack of any unfettered capitalism.
Unfettered capitalism has not existed past year 1900. It does not exist today. It is not used.
from Big Pharma to telecommunications, no monopoly-mergers are possible without Government Approval. It is given based on bribes.

That’s the precise opposite of unfettered capitalism. Unfettered capitalism would let the shareholders decide, would not be inhibited by 401k related regulations and would require NO government approval to pick winners and block others to be losers.

AT&T and T-Mobile were to merge: no one will ever know if that’s what the shareholders and customers wanted because the government interfered and stopped it.

That’s the precise opposite of unfettered capitalism.

There is no free market.  Modern unfettered capitalism and the decasde long trends of absorption (merger and acquisition) move us closer to monopoly and concentration of power.

Modern capitalism is essentially unfettered, and the force which can regulate it is being systematically dismantled, or rather, re-tasked to control ‘consumers ‘(wage-slaves).

Getting hung up on the ‘ism’s’ is counter-productive.

Ed, you’re an ass and a liar and you know it. The only difference between socialism and capitalism is that capitalism starts with individual rights and socialism starts with collective action.

There’s no reason the two differing systems can’t work together: any system that respects collective action in management, ownership and the solid hard work that builds everything, yet also respects personal rights to ownership and trade, is always socialist and capitalist at the same time.

Not every apple is red. Not every bird is red. It is a true statement that sometimes you’ll have both an apple and a bird that are red. This never means that all apples and birds are red.

A nice short one, so what the hell…..

The fraud says “Stand for truth, freedom, community and property rights, rights to life and health care”

WTF does that mean?  It’s so vague it means nothing.  Right to life?  You mean forcing a woman to carry a rape baby?  Or forcing a woman to have a baby even if it endangers her life?  And ‘property rights’?  WTF does that mean?

This tactic of taking words that sound nice to everybody like freedom, community, health care, and peppering them with tea-bag/neo-con buzz words like ‘right to life’ and ‘property rights’ is….., well, it’s…...  I have no idea what to call it, but people aren;t going to know what the hell they’re supporting.  It’s just vague.

Hunt the enemy’???? WTF are you saying?  What to do when you find them?

This I can agree with “REJECT THE FRAUD” and it’s Justin Case.

Unfettered capitalism SUCKS.

I have a great idea. Focus on where the big G20 and G8 meetings are going to be every year.
You have up to 1 year to prepare.
Show and spread word by blogs & twitter how to prepare.
People need to arrange mass boycott of work and purchasing in the city where the G20/G8 is going to be. These absurd fuckers think they have the unquestionable power to steal anything they want, shut down the part of the city they want and to attack everyone with illegal police-military power. They are WRONG.

These absurd clowns posing as our leaders are the most dangerous attack on Socialism and on Capitalism to ever exist.
One thing we can do is to punish each city before & during the event, financially punish them, to teach them it is NEVER EVER in their interest to allow such a meeting. In time the leaders will become so scared of the political backlash - combined with protest of course - that they’ll stop HAVING meetings they make so big that we can’t ignore.

“The Group of Twenty, known as G20, is an unaccountable and very powerful organization that arose from the need to resolve global issues in the absence of true world government. ... The most important meetings, however, are the leaders’ summits, attended by presidents, prime ministers and kings, which meet periodically to discuss global financial issues, with emphasis on the structure of the international monetary system and the need to contain currency wars. It is at these leaders’ summits, both in the formal sessions and informally in the suites, that the actual deals shaping the GLOBAL FINANCIAL SYSTEM ARE MADE.”

THERE IS YOUR ENEMY. I am not your enemy. I am not left-wing. I am not right-wing. I regard all left-right paradigms as FRAUD.

John, The post you referred to ....May 3, 1:45 had nothing to do with you. It was aimed at our resident special needs poster. I always feel a little creepy crawly when I respond to him….sort of a feeling I imagine you’d get if you took an imbecile to dine in a fancy restaurant and he drooled all over himself, and you then gave him a lecture on the proper conduct of a human being in public…...know what I mean ? Sort of like talking to the wall.

Sysadmin: filtering URL’s so that only I can not post certain types, so as to stop me from 100% disproving false arguments given by commenters or the author, is equivalent to robbing me of my free speech.

I appreciate that my IP is no longer being blocked so I have to keep making more - also a wrong-handed move by any sysadmin - but if you want to say that only anti-capitalist anti-socialist Marxists are allowed then your account Registration screens should say so, to make it more clear what kind of people are “not welcome” to share the truth on TRUTH-dig.

Prove with evidence and logic, Ed, just one thing I got wrong.
I bet you can’t. I research carefully and that’s why you never catch me on a mistake.

Of course I’m only human so I do make mistakes. I’m simply much more careful with detail than you are, and much more determined to survive the wave of stupidity you are leading upon all society, so you have to be more careful with detail and more determined to survive before you have a hope of catching my mistakes.

Ed, your post right below…..May 3 at 1:45 pm…...I think you’re writing in a sarcastic style?? It does not come across as understandable to me.  I don’t see any reference to any point of my post of May 3 at 11:12.  A reference to growth yes.  Shall we discuss the ‘grow, grow, grow’ mantra of the idiots I call ‘free marketeers’, who I think are the ones you call capitalists?

Perhaps you’re not even addressing me there?  Apologies if you’re addressing Justin…..I’m not taking time at present to read his stuff.

The problem is DEFINITELY NOT CAPITALISM.

Department of Homeland Security, a terrorist organization, acquired 450,000,000 rounds of hollow-point ammunition. Its sole purpose is to kill civilians within the USA borders yet the population is only 330,000,000 in the entire country, every man, woman and child.

The intention is to remove all hope, all capitalism, all socialism, all freedom and a lot of life. You will be marched down the street by police to be a slave-worker for 2 meals a day, perhaps 1 meal a day, and your punishment for refusing will be like the Nazis killing Jews.

They will murder your babies in front of you. Shooting dozens at a time in the street.

You can say this is tin-foil nutter-talk. You idiots WILL say such a stupid lie.

They bought the ammo and it CAN NOT be used in war as per the Geneva Convention.

Wake the fuck up - you are about to all get mass-murdered

Ed- ‘Oh, now I get it. “Growth is not part of capitalism.” Capitalism is static.’

Capitalism is a dynamic system of shifting trades which do not depend on growth. It isn’t static but growth isn’t part of it. Growth is a part of human nature and all life if there’s empty space to fill. Some time ago there was empty space to fill. Now there isn’t. Capitalism does not cause or inhibit growth. That choice is ours with or without capitalism.

Ed- ‘And the “right” does” not support capitalism. I get it. The right doesn’t care one way or the other about the economic system.. People on the right are just some disembodied spirits who don’t care what kind of economic system the country is based upon.’

Actually the so-called “right-wing” is a bunch of demonic fuck-faces who hate all capitalism and hate all socialism and want a religious state where you can be put to death for being a heathen. They want the Vatican to actually rule the world, or something like it, which is pretty dangerous.

Ed- ‘And the military. They are not protecting the interests of capitalism all over the globe. They are just doing what militaries do….making a lot of trouble with the money our disinterested government gives them.’

That’s exactly what they’re doing - killing capitalism by using war, which is enslaving nation after nation into the now-collapsing USA empire.

Your sarcasm is pathetic, Ed. You have been shown the truth and the evidence is all around you every second of every day without me even writing a word.

Wake the fuck up, Ed, it’s for the sake of your children’s future that someone over there clues in.
