Sen. Bunning Stalls Jobless Benefits BillPosted on Feb 26, 2010
Sen. Jim Bunning was not a popular man among his Democratic colleagues this week. The Kentucky Republican, apparently so concerned about the federal budget deficit that he thought it unwise to allow the passage of legislation extending unemployment and health care help to jobless Americans, enacted a “one-man filibuster,” as the Los Angeles Times put it, and he didn’t budge by Friday afternoon despite the outrage coming at him from the other side of the aisle. —KA

Bunning minds his GOP masters and that is all a good Republican Senator or Representative in Congress is required to do, as all Republicans are led by the Republican Conservative EXTREME.

Lou Pinella and the CUBS want to trade him to Cuba for 2 starting pitchers, a shortstop. a center fielder, and left handed pinch hitting. Actually they might trade Bunning and the CUBS for the CUBA national team. I’m sure Bunning would help their economy, he can’t hurt it.

It’s time for the senate to be abolished. It’s nothing
Report thisbut a club for millionaires who are completely out of
touch with average Americans. It is the only
legislative body left in the US which is not based on
the one-man-one-vote principle. Why should one senator
from the bible belt be able to disrupt the lives of so
many people? Senators sell themselves to the highest
corporate bidders without any concern at all for the
public interest. Abolish the senate along with the
electoral college.

This is simply more Senate theater. Bunning is the Dems new BFF! Can’t anyone notice that whenever legislation that would provide something for a large segment of the populace is before one of the Houses there is always—without fail—a politician there to obstruct it? Yet if it is a bill to provide more financing for war, increase subsidies to Big Corp, or to retain or increase governmental power over the citizenry—the patriot act—there is hardly a whimper of discordance?
The GOPDNCCorp is a wholly owned subsidiary of Big Corp and is there to provide you with entertainment while serving its true constituency Big Corp.
Senators, Representatives, etc. have all missed their true calling in life; they’re better suited to be samples in a scatologist’s petri dish.

The joke goes like this:
“I was once arrested for smuggling books through Kentucky, but they had to let me go because no one there could prove they were books.”
thank you very much, don’t forget to tip your waitress.
Oh that’s right, this is no joke.
the people of Kenucky deserve everthing they don’t get from their reps. They have, after all, lined up to vote for this fucking idiot and his goober of a collegue McConnell time and time again.
It’s a shame the south didn’t succeed after all.

If Bunning is so concerned about the federal deficit, why doesn’t he demand we bring the troops home? That will save lot of money.
Oh, I forgot about the new American mantra: Guns before butter.

I think there is a good chance that Democrats are going along with Bunning because Democrats do not want to continue to fund unemployment, but obviously, don’t want to stand up and say so. Notice that Durban made noises, but then sat down, and Reid closed the Senate session so they could all go home, and the lights were turned off so to speak. Then Pelosi makes some kind of angry statement toward Bunning, but in reality, Congress turned the lights off on the unemployed and went home, but Dems had a scapegoat. Recall that the original Patriot Act was passed in the middle of the night? But unemployed Americans seem to be expendable? The banks got their 24+ trillion (Bloomberg News), but unemployed Americans are a deficit issue? No, I think Democrats actually are finished with unemployment benefits—-possibly putting the entire burden on the states—-and used Bunning to launch this. If I am WRONG, then on this Tuesday, we will see a rapid passage of an unemployment extension. Otherwise, if we see more dithering, then I would stand by my opinion—-Dems are going to cut the unemployed loose and essentially disappear them, declare the recession over, etc. Let’s see what happens.

I admire Senator Bunning. Other members of Congress cry crocodile tears over Americans who can’t afford health care, while they enjoy the finest health care our tax dollars can buy them. Bunning has the courage and honesty to come right out and say he doesn’t give a damn about us serfs. Good for you, Jim. Let them eat cake.

From Wikipedia:
“Bunning was the only senator to miss the Senate’s historic Christmas Eve 2009
Report thisvote on the health care reform bill. The missed vote was one of 21 in the month of
December — nearly half of all Senate floor votes — that the senator skipped.
Bunning’s total of 21 missed December votes is one more than the 20 missed by
92-year-old Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., who is ailing and in a wheelchair.”

Would someone please explain to me, like I’m four, why this is allowed? You can’t tell me there is no procedural solution for this level of obstruction; I think Harry Reid is to blame for this faux impasse, for choosing not to use whatever means are at his disposal to shut shut this down and call a vote.
I don’t believe for a red hot minute that this is not possible. What are the Democrats doing, collecting film for campaign ads? Grow a pair and act like a governing body. Even for Harry Reid’s Senate, this is insane.

What an ugly, sour man. He should go back to baseball cleaning dugouts. He was a whacko wingnut long before it was fashionable.
One person denying over a million people their jobs and their COBRA. If he quit, his salary and that of his staff could go back into the budget to cover the budget he is supposedly protecting.
A true idiot.

This action, by this smug looking ugly freak, will cause hardship, and will wreak havoc with state agencies, causing additional delays.
Bunning is a baseball hall of famer. Baseball fans are more demanding and less forgiving about baseball than we are about the welfare of our citizens.
Bunning should be benched and traded to the Dominican Republic or elsewhere, because of this error.

Bunning, that butthead, is a less-than shining example of the Peter Principle at work. He not only rose to his level of incompetence, he managed to rise ABOVE it to new wonders of incompetence.
BTW, it’s not only Dims in the Senate who can’t stand Bunning. His Minority Leader and fellow Kentuckian, Mitch McConnell, can’t stand Bunning either—seems to hate the dumb fuck with the passion even Dims can’t bring.
