Schwarzenegger Slashes Social Programs

In “Conan the Barbarian,” Schwarzenegger wielded a sword. This time around, it’s the budget ax.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken the ax yet again to California’s social programs, vetoing almost $1 billion in spending on welfare, special education, child care and other programs before signing a budget bill into law. —JCL

Los Angeles Times:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday vetoed nearly $1 billion in spending on welfare, child care, special education and other programs before signing the budget bill that lawmakers had passed about eight hours earlier after a marathon overnight session.

The governor slashed 23 line items from the $87.5-billion general fund budget, including $256 million from a program for school-age children of families moving off welfare, $133 million from mental health services for special education students and nearly $60 million from AIDS treatment and prevention programs.

Schwarzenegger did not explain his actions, but a report issued by his finance department said the savings from his vetoes would “create a prudent reserve for economic uncertainties.” The state’s reserve for emergencies such as battling wildfires will grow from $375 million to $1.3 billion, the report said.

Hey Arnold,  Howz about slashing monay spent on da military. You know, bombs, missles, and other things that go boom. In case ya have not noticed Arnold, the Death Merchants are stealing Californias monay and using it to kill children. I forgot, you only pretend to like children.

ITW:

This is another case of “be careful what you wish for.” The Proposition system in California was born of the frustration of Californians with the absolute incompetence of Sacramento and their desire to have a more direct say in how their state is run. Small R republicanism has been abandoned in favor of direct democracy. Get a bunch of signatures on a petition and bingo, your prop is on the ballot. Get a bunch of rich activists to advertise for it and bingo, it wins, and the Governor and the Legislature can only sit back and watch the ensuing madness.

Arnold Swargenegger’s relative, I think that it was his father, was a Nazi.  Apparently, it still runs in the family.  I’ve never thought that Arnold was a moderate.  He seems to think that he is King of California.  He can’t even perform his photo-ops competely.  I remember him in So. Cal. appearing in front of firefighters and stating something about him controlling the fire.  It’s really tragic that we’re stuck with him until next January.

This feels like his last (and most vicious) stab and
burn. The already deeply depressed parts of our state
will not survive this. We’re already not surviving
this.

This is the natural conclusion to a liberal dominated social welfare state.

Ah, Arnold, the master of destruction in movies and life. I was stunned
when he was elected. Just floored. Mostly because women would vote
for him. Go figure, a known female abuser and women vote for him. But
the laws of the State of CA brought him down. He is not as powerful as
he thought he would be. Thankgod. Someone above said the people
need to rise up and stop this nonsense. But how do you rise up and
protest. How is it done? Because I want to do it. Everyday a new outrage
by Wall Street, the banks and the NYTimes protecting the guilty. It’s
been going on for more than 30 years and it finally crashed but not for
the rich who got what they wanted. We are almost back to 1890. And
Aawr-nolt adds to the misery of the helpless. What ever happened to
the great state of CA that I love so much?

GO JERRY BROWN!!!!!

Far be it for me to defend a Republican, even the last prominent moderate Republican, but hasn’t anybody noticed that the fucked-up politics and political system of “Propositions” have made it impossible to keep the Golden State from going bankrupt without draconian cuts in spending?  And they have two conflicting restrictions:
1) Taxes cannot be raised even if they are unfairly distributed, lighter on the wealthy, heavier on the working class.
2) There are expenditures that simply cannot be cut.

I’m not sure there’s any alternative in California.  After all, his predecessor was recalled for supposedly being unable to deal with this mess.

And I doubt even Jerry Brown can (and we KNOW Meg Whitman will be worse).

What else is there to cut in California that hasn’t been “protected”?

Ex-Kennedy in-law Andrew Cuomo will be doing the same thing in New York next year.  California is not alone.  Welcome to 1930.

The Untermenschen are being driven from California. They will retreat to places like Stalingrad, New Mexico and Kursk, South Dakota.  The Master Race of Republicans, exemplified by George Warrior Bush, all think of themselves as Conan the Barbarian in the photo above.  A brain enraged by ideological and religious steroids, bulging, shining biceps and large hands wielding a giant sword against socialists, atheists and Mexicans. Die Wahrheit is das Fundament, meine Damen und Herren.

Find out Arnie’s campaign contributors and have as many people as you can to call them and say.

Increase money for social programs and until that happens I refuse to buy your products.

California is a perfect example of how savage capitalism is becoming. If the people don’t rise up they are just condemning themselves to a sadder fate.

How can a so-called civilized person hate helpless human beings so much? He was born into poverty, and he seems to have forgotten how that felt. To do what he just did to the most helpless people under his purview is nothing less than a criminal act! Depriving children of anything that helps them live is criminal! To take the most basic of help from those who cannot get help anywhere else is reminiscent of Nazi thinking. These “people unworthy of life” are being thrown away like garbage by this jerk, without a second thought. Something is wrong with Bad Arnold’s brain.
