Saudis Arrest 172 in Anti-Terror Sweep

Saudi Arabian authorities say they have captured 172 militants who were planning a series of attacks around the country. The royal family began a more aggressive approach toward extremists, which it calls a “deviant group,” four years ago after attacks targeted the nation’s oil industry.

AP:

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP)—Saudi Arabia announced Friday that an anti-terrorism sweep netted 172 Islamic extremists and stopped plans to mount air attacks on the kingdom’s oil refineries, break militants out of jail and send suicide attackers to kill government officials.

An official said the plotters had completed preparations for their attacks, and all that remained to put the plot in motion “was to set the zero hour.”

It was one of the biggest roundups since Saudi leaders began cracking down on religious extremists four years ago after militants attacked foreigners and others involved in the country’s oil industry seeking to topple the monarchy for its alliance with the U.S.

Another day, another way to increase our gas prices, as if any excuse is necessary. The House of Bu$h/Saud must be served.

#66991 by M Currey on 4/28 at 11:37 am — “Shame that these crack downs were not started before the infamous 9/11”

****** perspective? — the list of warnings and investigations that were underway is lengthy…and the “failure” to follow up or issue arrest warrants…???

...the moles, my friends; state-sponsored terrorism does not work without moles a plenty, to stall investigations, bury leads and issue hands-off caveats to your unwitting agents — you have to keep the patsies in play until the professionals execute the operation — after the deed is done, they’re fingered, and the investigations go forward - maybe torture them for good measure (you know, to keep up appearances - after all they’re now legends that wouldn’t easily be broken) - compose fabulous confessions for them; or if they won’t play along, order a hit, a al Jack Ruby.

911 was done by a rogue network of planners, moles, executioners, patsies and rich assets in the media (the cover up) - many unwitting players, but certainly they know by now — the 911 coup d’etat — perhaps the most spectacularly horrific black-ops/psy-ops of all time, or at least since Nero set fire to Rome — is an open secret in the corridors of power. The scramble is on to rein in the madmen without blowing the coverup, triggering the biggest constitutional crisis since the Civil War and thus precipitate a global financial meltdown.

The saudi royal family and the bush’s have been in bed together for a long time. Let’s not kid ourselves and think that this is a real effort on the part of the saudis to help out with the ‘war on terror’, when they are, like the bush monarchy, part of the problem.

Why do you think nothing was done to saudi arabia after 9/11 when the majority of the ‘hijackers’ were saudi nationals, and NOT iraqis?

I think this is a strategic media ploy.

I guess we only hear about the “terrorists” when they’re Arab/Muslim.  How convenient.

“Saudi Militant Plot Mirrored 9/11 Attack” = “The Lessons of 9/11” — the players follow the script, follow it to the letter, and since it is documented that in the late 90’s US Visas for numerous al Queda operatives were fast-tracked through the US Embassy in Riyadh, clearly maintaining the potency of the global war of terror is essential as support for the entire expeditionary Middle East operation is fast declining — expect more and more of the same.

How self-serving.  This crackdown has nothing to do with anything other than safeguarding the monarchy in control of S.A.

And yet, it’s this very monarchy that not only allows, but helps the various religious schools and mosques around the nation to radicalize the youth, denounce the U.S. as the ‘great Satan’ and preaches/teaches hatred of the West; the U.S. and Israel in particular.

Let’s be clear; the S.A. monarchy is no better than the very people they rounded up.

Are they really militants or innocent people with all kinds of weapons which have been hid before by local authorities ?

Sorry, but the titile leaves something to be desired.  Deviants, according to my dictionary means “departing from usual or accepted standards, esp. in social and sexual behavior.”  Thought you were talking about the whitehouse.
