Sarah Palin Asks Barack Obama to Stop Playing ‘the Race Card’ in Honor of Martin Luther King
Posted on Jan 20, 2014
The former governor of Alaska took the holiday to remind everyone that she is more racially sensitive than the first black president.
In a master class of tone-deaf co-option, Sarah Palin took to Facebook this Martin Luther King Day to post the following message, you know, in the spirit of coming together:
Two words: Oy. Vey.
Let’s take this as an opportunity to remember that in order to be elected, Barack Obama has had to avoid playing the “race card” at every turn. He had to condemn his black liberation theology preacher Jeremiah Wright. He had to brush every overtly racist attack off his shoulder lest he play the angry black man. He has been criticized by important African-American thought leaders such as Cornel West as a “shell of a man.”
But OK. In Sarah Palin’s universe his very being is probably one giant race card that trumps all other considerations. This blogger is officially vexed, baffled and moving on.
