Ryan Fails the Romney Standard: By Mitt Romney’s own standards, Paul Ryan is not qualified to be his running mate. Back in May, Romney had endorsed a business owner’s suggestion that presidents should have at least three years of business experience. Ryan—who has worked in Congress ever since he graduated from college—does not meet that qualification. Whoops! (Read more)

Ryan’s Tax Returns: Here’s another instance of “do as I say, not as I do” from the Republican presidential candidate. PBS’ Jim Lehrer, CNN’s Candy Crowley and CBS’ Bob Schieffer will each moderate one presidential debate, while ABC’s Martha Raddatz will moderate the vice presidential one. Crowley will be the first woman to moderate a presidential debate in 20 years. (Read more)

The former congresswoman, who had been recovering in a hospital in Houston, has visited the state a handful of times since the January 2011 rampage in Tucson that left six people dead and more than a dozen wounded. This month, Jared Lee Loughner pleaded guilty to carrying out the shootings. (Read more)

Video of the Day: Paul Ryan’s first solo appearance as the Republican vice presidential candidate didn’t go exactly as planned (unless they were planning for him to be met by hecklers).
