Russian Spy Has Confessed, Authorities Say

Federal prosecutors claimed Thursday that one of the alleged Russian spies confessed to working for the Russian foreign intelligence service. Uncle Sam is trying to keep the accused in custody, fearing they might otherwise try to flee, armed no doubt with bullet pens, microdots and perhaps even a briefcase jetpack.

Seriously, though, this spy story just gets more and more depressing. The reports of the teenage children of these alleged agents waving in the courtroom demand an Oprah-produced Lifetime drama.

The New York Times:

In a long statement given to investigators after his arrest, Mr. Lazaro admitted that “Lazaro” was not his true name, and that the Yonkers house where he and another of the suspects live was paid for by the “Service,” a reference to the S.V.R. in Moscow.

Mr. Lazaro also said that his wife, Vicky Pelaez, a journalist for a Spanish-language newspaper in New York who was also charged in the case, “had delivered letters to the service on his behalf,” prosecutors said.

Mr. Lazaro, a former professor at Baruch College who has a 17-year-old son with Ms. Pelaez, told the authorities that although he “loved his son, he would not violate his loyalty to the service even for his son.”

I read sometime back where where a Cuban couple caught spying were sent to jail for along time.

Israeli spy Kadish walked.

There have been several others.

Obviously the Israeli government has spies all over the US and attempts to infiltrate US government—the Pollard case demonstrates that.

In fact, I expect most nations with any power to have undercover agents operating in the USA—and vice versa. I’d be SHOCKED if we didn’t have spies in Russia, Israel, even the UK.

But this:

“Israeli government’s blatant and much
deeper and more damaging penetration of our government
—with the flagrant collusion of members of Congress.”

is an unsupported bullshit accusation of High Treason by mass numbers of Congress that you cannot prove, but pretend is some kind of “fact”.  It’s nothing more than a radical left wing mantra no different than the bullshit conspiracies thrown up as “real” by the radical reactionary right wing.

Right on Ed.

I would like to know what my government is attempting to do without my knowledge, with utter disregard to our nations Constitution.

It’s amazing that there is such alarm about these Russian operatives
at the same time that the Israeli government’s blatant and much
deeper and more damaging penetration of our government
—with the flagrant collusion of members of Congress—
is blithely ignored.
