Rupert Murdoch Is on Twitter and It’s Weird

Twitter

During his first few days on the social network, the mogul promoted “We Bought a Zoo,” told Iowans to consider Rick Santorum, praised President Obama (“decision on terrorist detention very courageous - and dead right!”) and called education America’s “absolute biggest crisis. No read, no write, no jobs.”

Murdoch also reviewed the Steve Jobs biography (“interesting but unfair. Family must hate”), called Michael Bloomberg the best New York mayor in memory, and said the city is “cold and empty, even central park. Nice!”

Once more for posterity: “cold and empty. Nice!”

There’s something about a man who could stand in for Mr. Burns dropping terse, staccato tweets complete with exclamation marks, like he’s some kind of teenager who is super pumped about The Wall Street Journal, that is just … odd.

It’s also a great opportunity to pester the man. Rupert, consider yourself followed.  —PZS

New and Improved Comments

We are launching a major overhaul of our comments section.

In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread.

Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts.

Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with.

Murdoch is not only a crook but also a Crypto-Jew.

Neocons and Obamabots should notice that Murdoch basically endorsed both Santorum and Obama’s Orwellian policies.

He’s on Twitter showing support for Rick Santorum. No surprise there; Rick has
been quite aggressive lately about his desire to put Iran in its place. His war-
mongering stance suits Murdoch well because war sells news and Rupert’s only
concern is his bottom line.

Dear gollum,

When America is the subject of conversation: I talk and you listen. You have no idea what you are talking about obviously and sometimes it’s just best to put a cork in your mutton hole.
