Bain Brouhaha: Official government documents show that Mitt Romney was still the CEO and chairman of Bain Capital in 2002, three years after he said he left the firm, The Boston Globe reported Thursday. As if the fallout from the news wasn’t bad enough, the story could get bigger. As The Daily Beast’s Andrew Sullivan noted, it is a felony to falsely report your corporate status to the government. The Romney camp, however, insisted its candidate was not in charge of Bain after 1999, even though he was still getting paid $100,000 a year from the company. (Read more)

Mitt’s Pushback: Mitt Romney appears to be pretty serious about responding to attacks against him over his Bain Capital record, at least based on some political advertising data that was sent to The Washington Post’s Greg Sargent. Romney’s campaign released a new ad Thursday morning and, according to Sargent’s Democratic source, it is already running in multiple markets in some key battleground states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia. Limbaugh Race-Baits After Romney NAACP Speech: Rush Limbaugh has a theory on why Mitt Romney was booed during his NAACP speech Wednesday—because he is white. Limbaugh said on his radio show Wednesday: “Obama’s the Preezy. He’s confident they’ll boo Romney, simply ’cause Romney’s white. He’s confident of that.” First off, that statement is just wrong on so many levels. Aside from that, however, under Limbaugh’s “theory,” Vice President Joe Biden should have been booed as well during his speech to the NAACP on Thursday. But he wasn’t. Now how will Limbaugh explain that one? (Read more)

IRS Headed Toward Holocaust, Maine Governor Says: In yet another example of the inflammatory political rhetoric that is poisoning the fabric of American politics, Maine Gov. Paul LePage compared the Internal Revenue Service to Nazi Germany and said the agency was “headed” in the direction of committing a holocaust. It’s the second time in five days that the tea party-backed LePage has compared the IRS to Nazis. The Republican stirred up some controversy in discussing the recent Supreme Court health care decision when he said on his weekly radio address Saturday that Maine residents “must buy health insurance or pay the new Gestapo— the IRS.” LePage apologized both times, offering “clarifications” of his statements. Evidently he did not learn anything from the first remark, since he essentially said the same thing again Thursday. (Read more)

Video of the Day: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld went off on liberal Bob Beckel (wait, there are liberals on Fox News now?) after Beckel refused to apologize to GOP Congressman Allen West for calling him a “blowhard.” All this, of course, followed yet another controversial remark made by the Florida legislator. So in other words, just another day on the good ol’ Fox News Channel.
