Well, we here at Truthdig already think he’s the best, but it’s fantastic news that the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has singled out veteran journalist, author and Truthdig Editor-in-Chief Robert Scheer as this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Work in New Media Award.
This award from the SPJ/LA truly puts the “new” in new media, as it’s been in existence for only two years. Our heartiest congratulations to Scheer for his well-deserved honor, proving once again that his vision and voice have made their indelible mark, even in a medium that’s constantly changing. —KA

The Distinguished Work in New Media award was created in 2008 and is given to a journalist who uses the new media’s unique characteristics and capabilities while striving to uphold traditional journalism’s highest standards of honesty, accuracy, responsibility and accountability.
[...] Robert Scheer, editor-in-chief of the Webby Award-winning Internet magazine Truthdig, has built a reputation for strong social and political writing during his 45 years as a journalist. Between 1964 and 1969, he was Vietnam correspondent, managing editor and editor-in-chief of Ramparts magazine. Not being sure who wrote this column/article and/or whom they maybe referring to, viz…‘we her at Truthdig…’ mustn’t being following the postings to the Column article written by Robert Scheer, “Robert Scheer’s Columns “Speaking Ill of ‘the Best and the Brightest.’” I most graciously suggest those reading this column article avail themselves of the commentary provided by the posters therein.
Alas, it appears Robert Scheer has decided via silence (silence equates to agreement or continuing fraud, you decide), to leave the field of honor for his failure to accept our challenge to prove our premises wrong. Confirming our direct point of view concerning his own journalistic character and operative status!
But for the sake of Good Will seeking Universal Peace with All Walks of Life, we submit out previous challenge a second time to Robert Scheer, in the most humble attempt to get to the true nature of Robert Scheer’s journalistic skills and honesty, by honing such presumable talent upon empirical foundations, which allegedly has any possibility of ever proving our premises wrong!
Lastly, failure to believe these stated inferences, you do at your own peril. But what we would humbly wish for you instead, is to apprise yourselves via the material we continue to foster for exhortation, edification, and your only political salvation, which is your only reasonable choice under the circumstances, that every individually faces globally or otherwise! It has always been your choice to believe what those who would enslave you tell you to believe…or…what, with your on reasoning, tells you to be the truth of any matter via the Science of Right Reason.

Response: Mr. Robert Scheer, is the editor-in-chief of the Webby Award-winning(?) Internet magazine Truthdig.
To many he has built a reputation for strong social and political writing during his 45 years as a journalist. Presumably via his allegedly unique characteristics and capabilities, while appearing to strive in his profession to uphold traditional journalism’s highest standards of honesty, accuracy, responsibility and accountability.
Simply put, without calling into question Mr. Scheer’s characteristics or capabilities privately, I’m quite sure his journalistic license requires him to report only facts matching the climate of journalism’s alleged standards of honesty, accuracy, responsibility, and accountability.
Or like so many, he himself would most assuredly be found in the soup lines of unemployment. Until either his attitude is properly adjusted to whatever subjugation deemed necessary by the Powers to be or otherwise, to his benefit and profession, he wisely acquires the tools, characteristics and capabilities, to uphold the highest bastions of honesty, accuracy, responsibility, accountability, and honor that he and all fields of professionalism owe All Walks Life via their duty to maintaining Good Will founded upon these qualities that each owe one another, in the interest of Universal Peace!
To test Mr Scheer, for the sake of determining whether or not Mr. Scheer is or ever was worthy of such accolades, we challenge him to live up to the highest bastions of honesty, accuracy, responsibility and accountability by laying out our own honor side by side with his-self claimed honor before the Candid World. And, forthwith take up the mantle of his journalistic talents and prove our premises in error as below mentioned.
Concerning, whether he or others can prove they have Standing to State a claim for which Relief can be Granted by voting annually or to challenge the Public Debt. Or, even to direct how such funds are raised or dispersed.
Or, that he or any others similarly situated, has any lawful Claim for which Relief must be Granted via the U.S. Constitution to claim any 1st Art. of Amend. rights thereunder. I will state for the Record, that the only political right lies within the 15th Art. Of Ament., which is the right to vote. And the value of this right is impotent against the backdrop of the previous 14th Art. of Amend. at Section 4 thereof. Reducing any right to vote utterly worthless and a total sham to misdirect and evincing a design solely foisted upon the unsuspecting masses headlong into utter subjugation and involuntary slavery, directly in contradistinction to the U.S. Consti. Art. of Amend., the 13th.
You might ask yourself, why do I claim the unsuspecting masses are acting involuntarily. Well, I hold the position as U.S. Pres., Mr. Jefferson did. If you give the truth to the people, the people will decide for themselves what best actions or recourse to take, to preserve whatever they may wish preserving politically or socially on an individual case by case basis. So, against the backdrop of the evidence of the value of voting and the ability to question any matter with Standing to State a Claim for which Relief must be Granted, I must say they have not been given the truth. PERIOD!!!

Congratulations. Well deserved. Been reading your columns as long as I
can remember in Los Angeles. Highlight of my reading week. You spoke to
a group in Malibu and a group of us had coffee with you afterwards.
Always an original thinker and so well informed. It was an honor to meet
you. And thank you for Truthdig. As I move further left (or perhaps I am
standing still while everyone moves to the right) I appreciate a publication
that is out front about its position. Thanks Bob for all you have done to
keep ideas and thinking alive in a brain dead culture.

I’ve admired Mr. Scheer ever since his run against an LBJ-supported hack in CA during the Vietnam war. Congrats, and please keep on keeping on.
