President Obama has confirmed that a U.S.-led operation has killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden near the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, and his body is in U.S. custody. Update: In a related development, early Monday the State Department issued a worldwide warning to American travelers.

BBC:

The al-Qaeda leader was killed in a ground operation in a mansion outside Islamabad in an operation based on US intelligence, reports said.

I wonder, is the C.I.A. applying U.S. business tactics
to its subordinate Al Qaida organization?  Has the
C.I.A. fired its Al Qaida mercenaries, then rehired
them as “temporaries,” at ½ their former pay, without
retirement benefits or health insurance, and barred
them from joining a union ?

Yesterday at an airport, a person associated with
dialysis equipment told me the precise date of demise
of Osama bin Laden, 19 December 2001.  Osama bin Laden
was “on his death bed” the day of 9-11.  As reported by
the F.B.I., he was not associated with any of the
events of Sept. 11, 2001.

I find it very scary that the corporate and other popular news medias continue to, oppressively carry the ‘official’ story.  It’s a sad fact that most of the West will continue to be so uninformed that there’s no difference their stories than outright lies.

The whole story is such a mad concoction that would never pass muster unless the press was in league with the doers in Washington.

ikallicrates:But the Wahabis, unlike other Islamic sects, do not allow burial at sea.

I suspect the story has been manufactured from whole cloth, so I’m not surprised that its constituent parts make no sense, either seperately or as part of the whole.

The project, (whether OBL was alive at the time or brought in from his freezer by the Navy after the Pakistanis shot the place up, or in truth was involved at all), was designed simply to eliminate a no longer needed CIA asset and scapegoat and to improve President Select B. Obama’s public image and poll ratings.

The fascists have always felt that they need not concern themselves with a really good bullshit story, as long as they own the media and can improve on it at liesure as the obvious errata are pointed out.

9/11 gives an excellent example of this. The basic BS of 9/11 was hammered into a full blown cover-up over a period of almost a decade, and the finsihed product is now official history even though it still does not stand up to the slightest scrutiny by anyone with a measurable IQ.

This OBL kill story will morph a couple more times before they settle on a passable fable suited for psuedo-history.

I think it was only today that they changed the story to eliminate the 40 minute fire-fight altogether, as they could produce no credible witnesses to such a long drawn out engagement in the heart of a busy city, nor explain why only three people were killed.

Or was that 22 people….

That’s gonna put a small dent in the sales of the book that has already been written describing the fire-fight in detail….

Talking points will be produced over the next few days for the bunkers to post and I’m certain that this little error - burial at sea - will be studiously ignored and avoided by the bunkers till it goes away, or till the think tanks come up with a new spin altogether.

Ah Fascism…. The Germans before WW2 didn’t think it could happen there either.

I am holding my breath, Gary, because ardee’s logic stinks.

The logic, or lack of it, of ardee and shenonymous and certain other people who post on this site make me feel like saying “Stop quarreling, children, or your parents won’t let you play with your computers any more.”

BTW, when I posted my reply to ardee, I forgot to mention that Osama bin Laden belonged to the Wahabi sect of Islam. Our president claimed that bin Laden’s body was buried at sea because this was in accordance with Islamic religious custom. But the Wahabis, unlike other Islamic sects, do not allow burial at sea.

I sincerely hope you’re not holding your breathe in anticipation of an answer from ardee on this.

The Think-tanks haven’t come up with any good talking points to cover this hairy little aspect of the “story” yet, (and its been noted by many many people), so ardee is unable to respond right now, but as soon as they change the story again, or come up with some other semi-plausible sound bytes to confuse the issue further, I’m sure s/he’ll respond then.

Truthseeker, May 2 at 8:59am unregistered commenter) =  ....so don´t be

new boggy man….Don´t be surprised if the attack happens in Chicago…. You
know, where Rahm Emanuel is stationed….Hmmm.

Al Qaida. Right. The sub-organization of the NAZI element of the
C.I.A./MOSSAD being pitted against Gadhafy, murdering his supporters under
the guise of “protecting the Libyan citizenry.”  The hundreds of U.S.
missiles fired by NATO mercenaries are supposed to distinguish between the
type of Libyan citizens they murder?

Now that you mention it, Chicago, site of the former Sears Tower, now the
Willis Tower, after the destruction of the WTC, the tallest building in the
western hemisphere. It was reported to also have a nuclear charge under it,
similar to the WTC, and was hinted to have been on the initial plan with
the WTC.  Perhaps the change was made with the decision to take out the
general and his staff in the pentagon with the cruise missile, and
subsequent explosions that dropped the three floors above the hole made by
the cruise missile.

The question arises, was the name change associated with a change of owner?
Is the new owner the same owner of the former WTC, who received the
insurance payment?  Also, along with the new owner, was the amount of
catastrophic insurance also increased on the Willis Tower?  Just in case a
fictitious pilot – who cannot pilot even a Cessna 172- should be alleged to
fly a jet airliner into it?

Also, your discreet observation, “You know, where Rahm Emanuel is
stationed…”
How very accurate!
Now that the Zionist organization has stationed him as mayor of Chicago.
With Cheney´s current, oral flatulence amplifying the bin Laden death
fraud, the situation is RIGGED.  The Willis Tower could be taken down, in
order to make way for the new WTC falsification, with a tidy insurance sum
handed out to the alleged Willis Tower owner.

Truthseeker, you must undoubtedly be clairvoyant, or a student of
NAZI/CIA/Zionism, or an insightful combination of all.  Could you perhaps
be one of the increasing number of well-informed Americans?  Or, are you
one of the average, well-informed European types?  Or, perhaps a U.S.
intelligence agent on the inside, who does not suck up to Bush NAZIism, the
Rothschild family, or CIA fairy tales?  Whatever, thanks for the insightful
observation !

Yes, ardee, I am having trouble with the reading comprehension thingie. From what I read, I thought Osama bin Laden died on land, just outside Islamabad. You seem to be saying that he died at sea.

Oh this reading comprehension thingie, oh so hard for some. The Islamic custom is to bury the dead within twenty four hours, the burial at sea was supposedly complying with that restriction. Read slower…

I said something of the sort probably on another web site about
the pnac agendas mandating the need for ‘new pearl harbors’.
But you’re right, not enough is being said about these possible
future attacks. And it is impossible to get any kind of a real and
thorough investigation of that attack on 9/11 started. And it is
curious also in my comment ‘here’ that from the Politico.com
email I got this morning, well 2 emails, one saying bin laden’s
body was buried at sea but the other saying how now american
people need even more to support the troops EVERYDAY in their
efforts which is nothing, absolutely nothing BUT euphemistic
jingoism meaning PERPETUAL WAR.

Couple that with the, still too far in the future for me, 2012
election and o’s slumping poll numbers, quick burial at sea, no
real identification such as a picture of the dead man who was
buried at sea, a campaigning backslider of a politician and a
filthy corporate government that can’t do anything but lie and
talk out of the side its face. So, in a sense, perfect timing and
cohesion.

Another thing that gets me is o’s and other constant reference to
all of us working together. Makes my stomach turn.

Obama Doctrine: Better Dead Than Gitmo
By Sean Higgins
Mon., May 02, 2011 3:43 PM ET

Excerpts:

In the years since President Obama took office, his administration has shown a marked reluctance to capture terrorists, preferring targeted assassinations. Why? One reason may be that when they’re dead they don’t have to be put in Gitmo or on trial, both of which have proven to be major headaches for the administration.

A little over a year ago, Attorney General Eric Holder was asked by a congressional panel if he would read Osama Bin Laden Miranda rights should he ever get captured by U.S. forces. Holder said that wasn’t going to happen. Ever.

“You’re talking about a hypothetical that will never occur. The reality is that we will be reading Miranda rights to the corpse of Osama bin Laden. He will never appear in an American courtroom. That’s the reality. ... He will be killed by us, or he will be killed by his own people so he’s not captured by us.”

Holder subsequently downplayed the statement. But it may have been a case of a top administration official being too candid about its policies. When U.S. forces did finally catch up with the Al Qaida leader Sunday, he was indeed shot dead.

If the Obama administration had indeed decided before that raid that it only wanted Bin Laden dead, that would fit in with a broader policy of simply exterminating, rather than capturing, top terrorism suspects.

End

-

As does most here on TruthDig, the Obama Administration dislikes GITMO, Rendition, and interrogations.  These things are thought to be “Un-American”.  The “evil” that was the Bush Administration.  The softer, gentler, wiser -Peace Prize winning- President Obama prefers summary execution of, what the President refers to as, “criminals”.

If media accounts are correct, the Obama Administration apparently believes the interrogation of Khalid Mohammad, in part, lead to the location of bin Laden.

The irony being—President Obama is the poster-child definition of a true Neo- (New) Conservative.

——

You can only find this strange if you actually believe that the people reporting this event are telling the truth.

They aren’t. They don’t. They never have. Standard operational procedure does not include the word truth at any point.

Since OBL was a CIA asset to begin with, it was necessary to eliminate him before he could speak out about his handlers and their roll in the 9/11 false flag operation he’s been credited with.

It is far more likely that he was - if still alive - being held by the CIA until such time as his death would be politically convenient. Like now, when even the blacks are starting to realize that Obama is a republican ringer.

More likely, he died a long time ago and the event was saved till now as a timely shock-test to instill fresh anger in the Muslim community.

An autopsy would show his time of death as different from the claimed date if he’d been kept on ice till now.

By using burial at sea, nobody will be demanding to see the body for proof of the deed. By claiming it was the Muslim custom, they’re just adding salt to the wound to piss off the Muslims even more.

There will soon be various Muslim groups making public statements about killing US citizens around the world and this is the true goal of the report.

As many as half of these will also be CIA assets.

It doesn’t, of course. A Muslim is buried at sea only if he died at sea, and it is not practical to take his body ashore for proper burial.

Bin Laden didn’t die at sea. He died just outside of Islamabad, which is some six hundred miles northeast of the Arabian Sea.

The US assassination and disappearance of the body of Osama bin Laden sure sets a helluva precedent. That a victim of an attack can murder the titular head of a group of which the attacker(s) are members, and destroy/disappear the body, with impunity.

So it should not surprise that one day, if/when the Iraqis and/or the Afghans become free enough of the US, and strong enough to exercise some muscle, ‘W’ and his ventriloquist, the avariciously sneering Dick-Head, disappear, with parts of them later found in the bellies of sharks. As a result of them being sent to ‘sleep with the fishes’ for their terrorist attacks on sovereign nations under false pretenses.

Sleeping with the fishes is also the fitting end for those who do not honor the code of the group to which they purport to belong, in these two traitor’s’ cases, falsifying their oaths, and faking their allegiance to the Constitution and Bill of Rights of the USA. Won’t that be an amusing twist, to have Iraq and/or Afghanistan do the right thing for the US, after the way we’ve treated them.

Thank you. It is heartening to see that someone is thinking about “why” OBL was officially “killed” in the owned-press at this particular time.

To push forward with their agenda, it is fairly obvious that another “terrorist” attack is going to be necessary to solidify the US peasantry behind Obama’s after-the-attack announcemnet of righteous retalliation.

Might be smart for the betting crowd to begin laying wagers on what country the US will choose to blame the newest false flag assault on.

There is nothing about this “story” that makes much sense at all. Read the foreign (yes,Muslim) press and their take on this so-called story. Do you wish to take the American Corporate pseudo-Press version of events or do some more research before you start to assume that this actually happened as they claim. Benazir Bhutto even claimed in an interview(now censored by the BBC) with David Frost that bin Laden was murdered years ago. Should we believe that America was so concerned with respecting Islam by disposing of the body at sea withing 24 hrs of death? They have no respect for Islam whatsoever, and 8 years of violence against Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan amply shows that.

All:

It is heartening to see so many so skeptical of this report - either because they believe OBL died some time ago and this report was timed for political and/or propaganda purposes, or simply because they have learned to distrust almost anything the government tells them after the false flag operation of 9/11 - there is one scenario that no one has mentioned yet.

The “death” of OBL makes future - and possibly near-future - false flag attacks more likely.

Consider the following scenario.

The death of OBL helps “heal wounds,” bring America together at least a little more (“nationalism,” anyone?), and makes the 10th anniversary of 9/11 as much a celebration as a continued memorial and rememberance.

And on 9/11/11 - in solidarity with 9/11, and in response to the “killing” of OBl - “Islamic suicide bombers” blow themselves up during 9/11 memorials in NYC, Chicago, LA, San Francisco, Houston and Miami.  Not that many people are killed or injured, but the acts still serve not only to darkening the American mood, but to provide the U.S. government with further opportunities to curb civil liberties, control the populace by fear and, possibly, even invoke martial law.  (Yes, that’s pretty radical, but it COULD happen.)

Only there WERE no “suicide bombers”; they were false flag attacks, carried out in a similar manner to 9/11 via the complicity of individuals and agencies of the U.S. government.

Crazy idea?  Maybe.  But I’m less likely to question that Obama is a Christian born in Hawaii than I am that such a scenario is possible.

Peace.

The timing is suspicious and that makes the story less than acceptable. Sunday is a good day for such news, more coverage. May Day, when Hitler died and Engel wrote the communist manifesto, quite symbolic. I tend to agree that Osama died a few years back and was kept alive news wise for propaganda purposes.

The Libya attack was also reported on May 1 but did not turn out as intended.

The ‘death of Osama bin Laden’ (think of it as a play) may be a signal that the U.S., tired of the Middle East, desires to turn its imperial attentions elsewhere.  The ‘accomplishment’ can be cited as a reason to wind down what are, after all, profitless and purposeless wars.

It simply indicates that your background is void of experiences related with

At risk of sanctimony… I learned about 10:30 last night after switching from a
movie to CNN, where sat the truly sanctimonious talking of the deed done
before video of crowds in NYC. I felt slightly nauseous while I recalled previous
sanctimonious outrage displayed by same media when a few in the Middle East
were spotted dancing just after 9/11. That video was on display here, all will
recall, complete with outraged voice-over supplied by the same gleeful
newsreaders last night.

Ever since announcement of deed done there’s been ongoing “warning” of
possible retaliation, Blitzer last night taking the opportunity to ask Crowley or Starr or some other about our
new warning system that is no longer color-coded. Dollar signs popped
into my brain, which I report at the risk of sounding cynical as well.

Early this morning, Ali Velshi holding up the New York Post with headline: “GOT
HIM” something-something, “vengeance,” some-something, “the Bastard.” I
see, or rather saw. I’d already read in the crawl that Bin Laden’s body had been
“handled” in appropriate “Islamic” fashion. By Navy Seals? Bin Laden was buried
at sea? At sea? “Yes, CJ, to prevent construction of any shrine.” I see. Yes, well
we couldn’t have had that, could we?

While Velshi was standing this morning on a street corner in NYC holding up
that copy of Murdock’s Post, some other CNN staffer was shown standing in
that field in Pennsylvania yet again. A monument still to be constructed, he
reported.

Nationalist display seemed last night to be everywhere as again this morning.
“YOOESSAY,” YOOESSAY”! (More spectacle out of what by now has become
tradition as empty as spectacle.)

I, no less than any other human being (and not because one who also happens
to be American) who by virtue of conscience that’s supposed to attend (pending
mental illness of some kind) being a human being was offended by horror of
9/11 whatever my thoughts concerning U.S. policy, in particular the fact of the
U.S. having assisted in giving birth to Bin Laden and his followers. That latter
fact never admitted by U.S. Officials, who are not given to admission, either way,
of truth.

There’s no doubt about that fact of U.S. creation of Bin Laden, which didn’t—not
even by twisted logic of political leaders—give the U.S.A. the legal, let alone
moral, right to murder Bin Laden. But murder him the U.S. did, in the first
degree and cheerfully so to boot. Obama was in fine form the previous night at
that cozy-up between media and honcho and the Donald, butt of well deserved
jokes. (If only we could redirect political candidates into entertainment as we
got someone else to do the leadership thing in some more responsible way.)

Trial? We don’t need no stinkin’ trial!

Was Bin Laden ACTUALLY culprit? Do we really know? Even did we have solid
evidence Bin Laden deserved a trial, which by the way might have resulted in a
number of revelations for the American and any and all other people interested
in the inner workings of power.

(I’m assuming—I think rightly—that Bin Laden could have been captured alive,
barring a storming of the walls by Navy Seals, not exactly celebrated for
subtlety of technique.)

Bin Laden no less than George Bush or any other recent U.S. President deserved
a trial.

But as usual it was about revenge and not about justice. Obama followed up last
night with more silly talk, this time in connection with this latest demonstration
of, “America can do anything it sets its mind to do.” (Close enough to exact
words.)

Indeed, Mr. President. I also reasonably assume then that someone other than
Bin Laden has already stepped into the breech, “terror” to be
continued… Profitably enough.

What nonsense, the article and some of the posts beneath it.

Buried at sea? In accordance with Islamic Law? This story might have been written by such as our own Dr. Bcrazy for all the sense it makes.

The “war on terror” will continue unabated because , ultimately, it is not AlQaeda nor the Taliban that is fomenting such, it is the USA , the worlds largest terrorist organization.

The last we heard from the real Bin Laden came in his post-9/11 statements to Pakistani journalists: “I stress that I have not carried out this act, which appears to have been carried out by individuals with their own motivation… I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States… I had no knowledge of these attacks…” (3)

This administration had a closure problem with OBL, no autopsy, buried at sea, problem solved.

We might remind ourselves daily of the summary statement, “We’ll know
our disinformation program is complete when everything the American
public believes is false.”—William Casey, CIA Director (from first
staff meeting, 1981, as reported by the patriotic, American journalist-
historian of the Jewish faith, Mrs. Mae Brussel.)

Osama bin Laden was “found,” when he visited the U.S. and was issued a
falsified passport in the late 1980s. He was „found“ again when his
first kidney transplant was performed on a U.S. naval vessel.  He was
“found “ again when the second kidney transplant was conducted in
Israel. He was “found” again when his corpse was interred, after he
died of renal failure, Winter 2002.

It appears that indigenous leaders of the Mid-East and North Africa
have begun to realize that bribery by the CIA IS THE INITIAL STEP TO
ANNIHILATION by CIA, NAZI-type henchmen.

The official presentation of a “Birth Certificate,” and the days-later
announcement by “B. H. Obama”, that “WE” have found Osama bin Laden and
killed him, is very significant propaganda. It suggests that the USGOV
HARD-LINE has gotten harder.  Completing the 15% remaining of the total
US takeover has begun. Whether it will be completed remains to be seen.
. . .

Three cheers for the genuine Americans in the employ of the NSA, FBI,
CIA, similar agencies, and all former employees, who support the
U.S.Constitution and who assist to provide accurate information, in
addition to the programmed CIA disinformation:
HURRAH;  HURRAH;  HURRAH !!!

@Robespierre:  He doesn’t have to justify keeping troops on the ground.  The
troops on the ground are fighting a Taliban insurgency not hunting Bin Laden.
They are training the national army and trying to forge a sustainable government
so they can hand over the security reins. The death of Bin Laden is a separate
agenda to what the troops are doing on the ground.

given the real story about the 911 stuff.

Osama Dead?  Didn’t he die like ten years ago? I wonder where they’ve been keeping his body on ice all of this time?  Hasn’t Osama officially announced that he will be running for a second term? I’m sorry, did I say Osama, I meant Obama. Now that Osama is dead, I wonder who will be our new boogieman. Sorry but this is all too convenient for me to believe. It makes me wonder what the Obama Administration has planned for the world. Maybe Osama’s death will get Americans to rally around the President when he decides to have an all out war in the Middle East. Syria is looking like a “hot spot” right now; maybe we’ll start a fight with them next. I never thought I’d actually be talking like I work for FOX News but there’s more beneath the surface in regards to the announcement of Osama Bin Laden’s assassination. If we’re going to celebrate, maybe we should wait until the rest of the 911 conspirators (Member of the Bush Administration, Black Water, the Saudi Royals and the remaining members of the Oli-garchy are brought to justice.

The symbol of the ‘evil guy’ is dead. No impact. As Ray McGovern (and such a large
cross-section of people agree) says: 911 was an inside job. he also stated that, If
Americans were actually given the real news, real information, then they could
make an informed decisions.

When Osama bin Laden, the Saudi multi-millionaire, decided to follow his religious convictions, and follow the life style of a mountain goat-herder in order to fight what he considered to be ‘The Great Satan’, he changed the world to an extent as have few, if any, before him.

Unless the world is very cautious, very alert, and very fortunate, his death may effect as great and unpredictable changes as his life. Had he been captured alive, a great deal might have been learned that would have helped avoid a recurrence of the disastrous events of the past decade. However, we can be certain that it was the orders and intent of his ‘captors’ to assassinate him. Although he may have arranged a way to be heard after his death, in which case the ‘powers that be’ who maintain our status quo may not rest easy.

Unfortunately, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Good analysis Jim Pharo. As for Egomet, seriously, tone down the personality cult worship. I don’t think the millions of unemployed or Afghans and Pakistanis burying dead relatives, or Hondurans being bashed in the head for protesting, are thanking Yahweh for Obama.

Apropos of the above, this will also make a lot of troops wonder why we’re
rebuilding THIS country (meaning Afghanistan, not the US, which they are
already wondering no doubt)....

I had on Al Jazeera and MSNBC simuntaneously, and they were 180 degrees
apart: Chuck Todd and his pals could only talk about this in terms of the US
Presidential politics, assuring each other that this was a Very Big Deal, since
OBL remained such an icon in the Muslim world.  On Al Jazeera, Robert Fiske
was explaining how this didn’t really make that much of a difference
operationally, since OBL had likely had nothing to do with operations for some
time.  He went on to discuss this in terms of the recent Marrakesh bombing.
The Al Jazeera coverage was substantive and full of knowledgeable and
experienced reporters.  MSNBC?  Not so much…

Also, I’m disturbed by the people showing up at LaFayette Park to gloat.  This
may be a good deed in the end, but there’s nothing to gloat about here.  We are
NOT entitled to a victory lap for this…
