Rep. Eric Massa isn’t about to leave Capitol Hill without firing zingers at a couple prominent Democratic peers while he’s at it. The New York congressman, who officially resigned Monday amid charges that he’d sexually harassed a male staffer, made no effort to contain his disdain for White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer during a lively interview Sunday on a radio station in New York state. Massa’s media spree will apparently continue after his departure, as he’s slated to show up on Glenn Beck’s show Tuesday. —KA
The New York Daily News:
Massa, who maintains he’s leaving Congress because of cancer, took to local radio station WKPQ Sunday and ripped into his party repeatedly, accusing leaders of forcing him out because he opposes health care reform.
He had special scorn for House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who helped get Massa elected.
“Rahm Emanuel is son of the devil’s spawn,” he said. “He is an individual who would sell his mother to get a vote. He would strap his children to the front end of a steam locomotive.”
Massa alleges that Emanuel ripped into him a number of times over votes, including in the House shower.
