Rep. Eric Massa

Rep. Eric Massa said earlier this week that he wouldn’t seek re-election, citing a health issue. The picture had changed by Friday, when Politico claimed that the Democratic congressman from New York was preparing to leave office even sooner amid allegations that he had sexually harassed a male staff member. Update: Massa says he will step down next week. Click here for his announcement. —KA

Politico:

A House staffer with knowledge of the situation says Massa is preparing to announce his resignation and will break the news in the Corning Leader, his local newspaper, but several media outlets were already reporting the news Friday afternoon.

Massa, who was elected in November 2008, announced earlier in the week that he would not be seeking a second term following a cancer scare in December. He initially dismissed as “unsubstantiated” a POLITICO report that he was being scrutinized for improper advances to a junior aide in his office.

@ Cruz P.
It must not be a good movie if you can’t give a good synopsis.  I’ll not waste my time ‘til I read one.

Went out and rented it. From the blurbs, it will probably only depress the hell out of me, but what doesn’t when it comes to the rapacious in government?

I’m just getting sick and tired of everyone in government able to “step down” when an investigation is either eminent or getting too close to the truth. Once a politician steps down, everything stops then and there. Other politicos seem to believe “it’s career ending, therefore it should be sufficient.” Well, not to me! There’s no severe punishment for ANY politico doing anything, so no wonder they keep doing heinous, self-serving things without end!

Whether they “step down” or go to jail, these people still get millions in retirement, their families get Presidential-rate health care for the rest of their lives and the criminal still gets even more millions from the shiny new job he gets from a corporation or defense industry. It just makes me sick, as most of the things they do fall under Treason and they should be shot for what they do. Their families should be unable to get any perks at all, and their kids and their kids should be blocked from attaining ANY government-related jobs. Ever!

“Stepping down” should be removed and trials should be severe and publicly held.

I guess most Americans just want a toilet for a country and a government….

Vote for ANY Libertarian in elections, atheists next. They’ll screw things up, but which politicians have not so far?

Anyone that is surprised by this should really watch the movie “Outrage”.  Check where ever it is you rent movies from to see if it’s available.  It is quite an enlightening film.
