YouTube Videos to Wear CaptionsPosted on Nov 20, 2009
In a boon for the hearing-impaired as well as non-English speakers, Google has announced it will soon plug in new technology that automatically adds text captions to many videos on its YouTube site. It will allow videos to be searched through text, rather than keywords.

I heard about it on “Off the Hook” Wednes. night on WBAI. Bernie S., of the hacker show, said that it’s based on technology that’s still developing and is using synthesizer speech, which will have many mistakes. I am really looking forward to cc close captioning on YouTube as well as transcription of whatever kind. I am losing my hearing, but due to CFS/ME, I like reading while I’m online. “Off the Hook” is archived free 90 days at http://www.wbai.org
Report this(Note: I support the “undo the coup” movement at WBAI and PacificaRadio - see http://www.takebackwbai.org and “latest news” link.) “Off the Hook” is produced by 2600 Magazine and is at http://www.2600.com
