Pope Changes His Tune, Talks of ‘Penance’Posted on Apr 15, 2010
By referring to the value of penance in the Christian experience, Pope Benedict XVI has inched toward acknowledging the need for the Vatican to show more contrition over the slew of clergy sexual abuse cases that have compromised the Catholic Church’s public standing in recent months. The pontiff made the comment during his Thursday morning Mass.—KA

Only a modern day Joan Of Arc can remove pedophiles from the church. She must

will invade every rectory and parish. Shrieks will be heard, not from the
sodomized, but from the predators that have lost their gonads. Her victories will
be short lived, because she will also be burned at the stake, and declared a saint.

Well put, Nemesis2010. But those of us in the choir don’t need to hear your offering. Those not already “enlightened” are deaf, if not also dumb and blind.
My partner goes ballistic whenever these religion freaks phone or actually have the nerve to knock on our door and want to “pray with us.” It’s all I can do to keep him from murdering the poor schmuks on the spot.
I’m a tad more civilized - I like to listen attentively, and then, in a calm and deliberate voice, say “You know, I’ve never heard such a pile of bullshit in my life. Get off the property before the police come… and don’t EVER come back.” The astonished look on their faces is all the reward I need.
The Seventh Day Adventists are the worst. We used to have Dad and Mom and two kids - all dressed to kill in 100 degree heat - show up at noon on Saturday, bibles in one hand and The Watchtower in the other. Talk about child abuse! Those poor kids - I wanted to haul them into the house for their own protection and call police or social services. Parents should not be allowed to torture and brainwash their kids like this.
BTW, not ALL higher learning is BS. Some is actually useful… like the seminar I took on detecting bullshit and other fallacies of logic.

I can’t understand all the outrage. Parents proudly have their child’s genitalia mutilated in the name of their non-existent god; is that not equally child abuse? One must never forget that those priest, cardinals, and popes are sodomizing, raping, and child abusing in the name of their Jewish zombie, Jeebus; just as the Jews and Muslims mutilate their offspring in the name of their non-existent psychopathic deities, Jehovah (YHWH) and Allah.
Proud father: “wadda think ‘bout that new boy ah mine, John?”
John: “truly made in the image of god Bill.”
Proud father: “Yep, and tomorrow we’re gonna have his pecker mutilated in the name of Jehovah and Jeebus because god—in whose image he’s made—is not pleased with all that foreskin that he designed into those whom he made to be in his image.” (<- that’s a truly “DUH!” moment)
John: “Does a man proud, do it not Bill?”
Proud father: “It surely do. I can’t wait until he’s forcibly bent over and sodomized or forced unto his knees to pray to the skin flute god –all in Jeebus’ name of course!”
We’ll never see any prosecutions of those criminals because everything they do, they do in the name of their god and religion. Religion is legal and totally accepted child abuse. Remarkably, many of us find out the truth seeking to learn more “truth.” That’s why—IMO—anyone of the so-called “cloth” who has been to a seminary or other institution of “higher religious learning” is nothing more than a con artist. If you’ve been to a higher learning institution you know that it’s all bullshat.
Religion is the bane of humankind.

The pope must stand on the balcony and confess his sins to the molested in St Peters Square. He must beg for forgiveness. The forgiveness will come more easily if the victims were generously compensated for his sins.

“...O.K. do twenty Hail Marys and a side order of fries, and you are done.” (diman)
I would have written… ... a side order of fries, and you’re good to go after another one.
That whole “confess” your sins in private and secret is such crap. Now, perhaps, if everyone was required to stand in front of the alter during Mass and confess they’re wrongdoings to the congregation… perhaps THAT would be worth the effort… but the “Confessional” is such BS.
There’s my unaskedfor opinion of the day.

Well, isn’t it cute, penance, in catholic tradition it would be like - O.K. do twenty Hail Marys and a side order of fries, and you are done.

My view exactly, and I would be curious to see what the global
reaction by members of the catholic club would be if the
pope-a-dope was shown being taken into custody and how
many would become those ‘complicit and assessories’ after
the fact.
But probably as bad would be those that are so brain washed

Leaving the Church, the religion and all that aside, the sexual abuse acts by priests (and others in positions of authority within the Church), are CRIMINAL acts in virtually every society on the planet that I know of.
These should be police matters and should be dealt with in the same manner as any other child molester is dealt with. Period.
And ANYTHING, from any level of authority in the Church, that is done to interfere (eg, moving the abuser to another diocese) should be viewed as complicity and accessory after the fact by law.
