Advertisers make all kinds of claims about the magical qualities of their clients’ products, but in the case of POM—the supposedly “wonderful” pomegranate juice in that shapely bulbous bottle—the fruity company might have crossed the line, according to the FTC.  —KA

The Wall Street Journal via Gawker:

Federal regulators on Monday sued the maker of a popular pomegranate fruit drink, POM Wonderful LLC, in a widening effort by the government to clamp down on food ads that tout specific health benefits.

The Federal Trade Commission’s suit alleges that Pom’s advertisements for POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice and its POMx supplements contain “false and unsubstantiated claims” about treating or preventing heart disease, prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction.

They’ve got their pants in a bunch over fruit
juice, while tens of thousands die every year from
prescribed meds. (Side effect of antidepressants?
Depression, obsession, suicide!) And pot is still
schedule ONE.

Actually, I never liked Pom anyway.  If you are looking for a really good anti-oxidant drink, try Naked Juice’s Pomegranate Blueberry.  It tastes better, has all the same antioxidants, and is cheaper.  And no, I have no stock in Naked Juice.  LOL.

As opposed to what, or whom? The gullible and lazy people, who believe that those drugs there taking have no side effects, and that the FTC, and FDA actually put the public welfare above corporate profit.

When time and time again, there have been hundreds of thousands of deaths, caused by the federal goverments regulatory agencies, doing the bidding of the corporations.

Their incompetance, is well documented.

I guess it’s OK to sell, pharmacuticals on TV to a simple minded public, as long as there is a disclaimer at the end that races along at the speed of light. Even when those pharmaceuticals, have litigation pending, due to the deaths, and maiming of thousands of people.

So when the FTC, takes actions like this, it makes me feel like there must be something to the claims, why else would the FTC try and put them out of business? Their bosses don’t like competition.

Thank God, we have the government to protect us against these evils.

Seriously, did anybody really think this shit was as good as they claimed?

There are more gullible and lazy people out there than just a few, and they will believe anything. I don’t see how any government agency can protect those people from themselves.
