Since when has Twitter become a valid platform for national political discourse? Maybe valid isn’t quite the word, but it seems like Sarah Palin has once again attempted to commandeer the online medium to her advantage, and this time she had White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel in her cross hairs. At least on Twitter, Palin’s not obliged to type out entire words, it would appear.  —KA

Political Hotsheet on CBS:

Sarah Palin didn’t appreciate Rahm Emanuel’s characterization of the Republican Party over the weekend and criticized the White House Chief of Staff on Twitter.

Palin tweeted, “RahmEmanuel=as shallow/narrowminded/political/irresponsible as they come, to falsely claim Barton’s BP comment is ‘GOP philosophy,” adding, “Rahm, u lie.”

The wars continue.
The Democrats can’t pass unemployment benefits.
The Democrats policy of “Drill, baby, Drill” has resulted in the worst oil spill in history.

Any aid to Americans or more stimulus is denied because of deficit concerns…. which really mean that the Democrats have already given all the money to Wall Street and the Pentagon.

Democrats think they elected a progressive rock-star, but what they get is Reagonomics and more wars and a gulf of Mexico full of dirty, nasty oil.

So, the Democrats say “QUICK ... we need more Sarah Palin stories.  The masses need distracting!”

“U Lie,” from the mouth of one of the biggest liars out there currently speaking publicly and not knowing what she is talking about.

Yes, there is a second book in the works, but not by Sarah, whom had her first book of lies ghost written. Her second book is not written by her, but many others, whom she claims inspired her during her lifetime and she is taking, or rather her ghost writer again, words, stories, poems etc from other writers, valid ones at that and compiling them into another book so as to scalp her ignorant masses out of their hard earned $$. Actually any monies she receives from the sale of this second book, if it ever makes it to publication should go to the families of those whose written material she plagiarizes. She has done this before also and been called on the carpet about it.

As for the Twitter from the Twit, shows her emotional maturity equivalent to that of a 12 year old, maybe. To use this form of communication may seem quirky and cool to her, to the rest of the world, it shows how petty this woman is using social networking to condemn, belittle, smear, slander, lie and disrespect others with views different and more educated than her own.

And no, the philosophy I have seen come out of the GOP has always sided with big oil, corps etc..Those who cannot see what in reality is happening are to close to observe neutrally what is actually going on or else they get large amounts of “funding” by kissing up to the MIC,Pharma, Big Agriculture, and other overly bloated, hyper rich industries who are currently favored by the lax rules and regulations pushed forth by these same GOPers since the days of Ronny Raygun, otherwise known as “The Ronny Horror Picture Show.”*

* as seem on Saturday Night Live in the 80’s.

hello. it is easy to give Ms. Palin no credibility, but in her own way, she put herself where she is. where she is at i can not see from my back porch, but i do respect sex appeal. the lower society standards fall, the more sex sells- and in many instances candidates are chosen for just that. her personal wealth buys a substantial support platform that will coddle her beyond hand notes; that she did not have before. as a mouthpiece, she does not sell me; but there is time to develop her style. so, if i saw her propped on a fence post, bleating some staccato- it would attract me to help her down, or at least hear what she was saying. women are a part of the solution, so she deserves a little time.

Best description of Palin I’ve yet heard:

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.

Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.

The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.”

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.

The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, it’s a post turtle.”

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain.

“You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, she doesn’t know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with.”

I don’t sense any “inner anger” in her; she’s having a hell of a time.  She made millions on her first book, has another in the works, and even her children are being paid for public appearances - what’s to be angry about?  She is exactly what could be expected given what politics has become these days.  Running for the highest offices in the country requires only a passing acquaintance with the issues of the day and no knowledge at all of American history, law, economics, or international relations.  Intellectuals and elitists always assert that the politically active among the working class are angry but I don’t sense that in her case.

The possibility of Palin ever getting anything right is only exceeded by GW Bush getting the Nobel Prize for Physics. Both rest well within the realm of 0.00% probablity.

Why does Truth Dig even bother commenting about
Sarah Palin?

As Geoffery Dunn said in the HuffPost,

“There is a deep inner anger boiling beneath the surface with every phrase she recites. Her smiles are forced and contrived. Each response is uttered in odd, staccatoed cadences, as though someone has pulled the string on a talking doll. Palin’s currency in American politics is not her faux expertise on energy resources—it’s her inner rage. And those who share it with her tap into that common anger and see her as their leader. It is as ugly as it is dangerous”.

Why no write about, say, Reinhold Neibhour?

Here in California there is posted sign on our roads reading “Don’t litter” The same sign should be posted at all media outlets reminding them, and possibly you, Truthdig, that any coverage of Palin/litter will result in a severe fine and possibly jail time.

That said, Emanuel did manage to put the Republicans on defense, a position far too often taken by Democrats.  It’s all good.
