Palin Delivers the Votes ... to Obama

Posted on Oct 14, 2008

The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank found many former Hillary Clinton supporters in Pennsylvania who had a hard time switching to Barack Obama—until Sarah Palin joined the Republican ticket. One Gail Silverberg captures the sentiment: “Hockey moms and lipstick on a pig and six-packs? I don’t want that stuff.”

Another interesting observation from Milbank’s travels: The men in Clinton’s life seem to have a harder time than she does letting go of her candidacy. At one point, the columnist describes a long-winded Ed Rendell recounting the glory days of the primary and attempting an awkward “Hillary!” chant while the New York senator tries to wrestle the mike from him. The event was meant to be an Obama rally, after all.

Dana Milbank in the Washington Post:

“Palin—God forbid! Where did they find her?” Evelyn Fruman exclaimed Monday before a Clinton speech at a Jewish community center here.

“God forbid!” Gail Silverberg chimed in. “Hockey moms and lipstick on a pig and six-packs? I don’t want that stuff.”

Nearby, Rina Jampolsky was wearing a “Hillary Sent Me” button next to a pin saying “Barack Obama” in Hebrew. “I thought I wouldn’t vote at all when Hillary left the race,” she said. “But as soon as McCain selected Sarah Palin, my decision was made.”

Nobody really really really cares Lisa if you don’t vote.  It is a curiosity though why you thought you had to announce that on Truthdig.  For what real purpose you would even bother is worth some introspection.  Some people have powers of making distinctions and others do not.  It seems like you fall into the latter category.  It’s all right.

It seems that when you tell someone you dont think you are going to vote, they freak out on you. Why?
I seriously do not like either canidate so I am at a loss because I do not have a descission.
I have voted in every election up until now. Just like with Bush..I did not vote for him…. I had a bad feeling about him and made it known what I thought was going to happen and I have had my friends that voted for him all come back and say.. “You were so right about him”.  I am not having a good feeling about either one of the canidates this election. How can you bring yourself to vote for anyone that you do not like for a president? I dont want to guess who the lesser of the two evils are because I think they are pretty much the same.

Hey Lisa,
What problems do you see with Obama that were not invented by the Repubs?  Is It Acorn or the crazy Muslim issue or the Ayers thing?  If not these bogus issues, then what?
If you don’t vote for the best ticket, you will be like the good people in Germany who didn’t vote for the decent leaders and so let Hitler’s crew get elected, or like the people who liked the Democrats but were too busy or uninterested to vote in the 2000 and 2004 elections for the better candidate and so handed the country over to the Bush-Cheney-Rove crowd.

Cyrena: There are 14 sub-species of pot bellied pigs, some weigh 75lbs. I have seen some very obese p/b.p.‘s on Animal Planet over 200lbs. I agree, no lipstick, but have you thought about nail polish.

BTW I would rate the palin bunch as a group of sub-species. It fits.

Actually I have been prostituting pigs on TD.  Am I a pig pimp?  I could easily be accused of that. Yes, they are considered not only smart but intelligent.  There is a difference.  Orwell comes to mind and the Animal Farm.  The pigs there however became totalitarian hogs if I recall correctly.  Will have to go back a reread that gem of a political burlesque.  Well burlesque does seem to describe McCain/Palin purrrfectly.

More about pigs later, have to go off to work.

On this little fact, (among all of the other interesting ones about pigs)

“..Smallest Breed: Mini Maialino (20 lbs)”

Are these the ones that they call ‘pot bellied’ pigs, and keep as pets? I’m curious because I always thought that I’d like to have one, (20 pounds is an ok weight, just not much bigger) at least until Palin made the entire species so popular.

And for these little ones, would they eat any other stuff more readily available to the semi city dweller? (rotting carcasses isn’t gonna work in my household, though I could manage the leaves, roots, and tree bark..maybe even a few dead bugs). Still, will they eat anything else? What about the old fashioned pig slop that the pig farmers throw in the troughs?

I’m just curious because I’ve read up on the swine, and according to most sources, they are very intelligent animals, which means that Sarah Palin the serial liar is creating a misleading association for herself, or intentionally slandering the pig species. (I hate liars).

I wouldn’t put any lipstick on my pig either.

A friend I dearly admire and adore complains that Sarah Palin was vilified, viciously criticized and excoriated before she ever opened her mouth.  I don’t recall that and if anybody has any evidence I’d be purrrrfffrfectiy willing to look at it.  All that possibly being the case, the fact is that once she did open her mouth, she seemed to have earned the pre-scorching?  That doesn’t sound too American of me, or fair, I know.  I somehow have to purge myself of such pig behavior.  So instead of purring, I probably should say oink and ask if there is any room in the sty?

I really do not think either canidate is any good. I am really dissapointed to think that these two canidates are the best the USA has came up with. To top it off Listening to Palin, she seems to not be a bright speaker (kinda like our president now) and I would totally expect McCain to kick the bucket and leave us with her.. then we would really be screwed. I was for Hillary. Obama has all kinds of issues I dont want to touch and if we have McCain.. it is 4 more years of a Bush-like era.
I throw my hands in the air and give up. I guess I just wont vote for a president this term.. I will just vote on everything else.

I am disgusted that McCain believes Palin represents women in America and he’s proud of her.  I don’t lie. I’m not stupid.  How does she represent me?
And he’s awed with Todd Palin.  McCain has serious judgment problems.
I’m disgusted that McCain uses ads to cast doubt and create fear about the person Obama.  Obama is campaigning about issues and casting doubt about those issues.  A BIG DIFFERENCE.
McCain is seriously out of touch, most especially in his choice of a running mate.

Do not underestimate Sarah Palin, the Gov. does possess a stage presence.  Palin, who spent 5 years pursuing a degree in journalism, has mastered the art of the snark.  Palin can smile, look straight into the camera and reel off a whopper without shame. That much can not be denied. Palin has mastered style and delivery.  Substance? Not so much.

Palin continues to claim credit for killing the “Bridge to Nowhere,” when it’s been conclusively established that she was for it before she was against it. Palin is under investigation for lying about her role in the firing of Alaska’s Safety Commissioner. Her testimony in this matter has slowly evolved as evidence has been uncovered.

As mayor, Palin demanded personal loyalty oaths be signed by city employees of Wasilla. She had to reinstate the town librarian to head off a recall effort, and was forced by Republican operatives to hire an administrator to run Wasilla after her power grabs outraged the village’s citizens.

When Palin was elected mayor of Wasilla the village had no long term debt. Palin hired a Washington DC lobbyist, connected to felon Jack Abramoff and indicted Senator Ted Stephens ® AK, who helped Palin suck $27,000,000.00 of pork from the Federal trough.  In-spite of this, Palin still managed to leave the village over $19,000,000.00 in debt after 8 years in office.

Alaska has the highest incidence of rape and incest in the nation. Alaskan Senator Barbara Murkowski ® AK said, ““Our statistics are almost unimaginable… more adult women have been raped than wear glasses or contacts.” Yet as mayor, Palin’s administration charged victims of rape and incest for their own rape kits, ($230.00) an action so outrageous that it was cited as the reason that the Alaskan State legislature passed a law forbidding the practice.

Alaska leads the nation in other shameful statistics. It has the highest per capita taxes, and spending and is the highest per capita recipient of Federal earmarks, (10x that of Illinois).

Alaska’s lack of state income tax and yearly rebate checks to its citizens are luxuries that are financed by the taxes it imposes on the oil exported to the lower 48 states.  Not bad work if you can get it. But not exactly self reliance either.  High taxes, high spending, and income redistribution are Republican self described abominations.  It is ironic that the red state of Alaska is the biggest single violator of these sins and the leading example of the nation-wide phenomenon of red states being net takers from the federal slop-pile while blue states, like Illinois, are net givers to the federal treasury.

Hypocrisy, extremist views, fiscal irresponsibility, abuse of power and dishonesty are tendencies that have not served George W. Bush well as president.  These shared traits will wear thin on, Alaskan Governor, VP candidate, Sarah Palin as well.

The chairman of the AIP back in 2004 talked about Sarah Palin as “an example of the kind of person that they want to have rising through the ranks and infiltrating other parties.”

After watching and listening to all the hate, fear mongering and lies to incite the followers of Sarah and John, who shout out such violent, death threats and negative comments in public with no correction to this “bad and unacceptable behaviour, WHO IS THE REAL TERRORIST HERE?

It certainly is not Obama and his party now is it?

GOD must be so proud of his little Sarah, spreading lies, hatred and despicable attitudes and behaviors into the world all in his name etc… Let’s hope(for those who believe in an invisible being who rules over all and those who don’t)that the mold was broken after she unfortunately was born into the unsuspecting world of what a vile creature she turned out to be. If there was a God, does he hate all living creatures so much that he had to unleash this rabid pit bull unto us so she could destroy other living things she does not like?

Do we really want this sadistic, uncaring thing running America? I think not.

Someone needs to check Palin’s academic record at her 5 universities.  She appears not have the intellectual (knowledgeable) ability that we need to serve as a step away from the Presidency.  Her responses to Katie Couric about her reading material was quite interesting, especially since she reportedly attended 5 universities to obtain one degree.

This is an issue that has not been reported and should have been part of the vetting process like the average American has to provide college transcripts for employment.

No one can deny Sarah Palin’s appeal to many voters. Her rallies in the last two weeks have been packed. Maybe it’s our failed educational system that has produced so many ignorant, short-sighted people who lack any critical skills at all. Who could possibly watch Palin’s performance in her ONLY unscripted interviews and come away thinking she was qualified for anything but hostess at the local pizza and beer joint? She is, without any doubt, the least educated, most frivolous candidate who has ever been nominated for the Vice Presidency. She learned how to read a teleprompter and show a feisty personality as a television weather girl. Earlier, she had learned to be cutesy and flirtatious in her beauty pageant competitions. Those are her sole qualifications to run for public office. She had to go five different colleges before she could find one that would graduate her with a degree in Journalism, a major which apparently taught her nothing about the world. In talking down to her supporters with a folksy affectation, she butchers the English language and inserts inappropriate and immature winks, as if everybody in the audience is in on the joke. Unfortunately, she is the joke, and it is not funny. If John McCain wins this election, we could end up with a president who actually believes that mankind walked alongside living dinosaurs. And whom do we thank for this? John McCain.

Because people realize that Sarah Palin is a “joke,” an “idiot,” is on religious planet nine, she’s obviously - and can only be - a Republican plant, used to smear the Democrats. She and her campaign are spreading a lot of fear and hate. As a colleague of mine from the US says: “they don’t care if Obama gets assassinated. She’s only just there!”(intelligence etc)“truth’s got nothing to do with this. It’s all about money.”

For someone to view the world through a religious screen of the saved and the damned makes her totally unfit for an official government positon, let alone vice-president. It’s safer to vote for the other side.

There’s a powerful poetic justice in this: McCain risks everything, endangering the country in the process, to choose Palin. She promptly shoves him aside, as she appears to have done to other former allies, and symbolically makes him sing soprano before the whole country. One consolation for the poor old guy when he loses: He’ll never have to see her again. For all her scary ambition, she will be toast after this election, once the McCain campaign is no longer available to tamp down the investigation in Alaska, and her nasty true self begins to become obvious. This is one dangerous woman, and we’ll all be better off when she returns to the obscurity that she so richly deserves.

Many commentators think that John McCain committed a major blunder when he chose a relatively unknown and inexperienced Governor of Alaska as his running mate. It has now turned out that his real blunder was that he totally underestimated the ruthless ego and ambition of Sara Palin. He thought that he had invited a hen into a fox house and now finds that the reverse is the case. Governor Palin was expected to be his admiring sidekick but not to outshine him. Well, something funny has happened on the way to the White House. Governor Palin is already more popular than McCain among their supporters and McCain does not know how to deal with it. Governor Palin is in this race for the future President Palin, not for a President McCain. If McCain gets elected he will be continuously outshone by his Vice President and he already knows it which explains his strange behavior of suggesting one day that Senator Obama is almost a terrorist himself and telling the public the next day that Obama is a decent man.

Sarah Palin: Classic example of a Republican puppet.
McCain’s winning votes for Obama too.
So is Todd Palin.
What disturbed me most about Palin was what she said before she was “dewitched” in her church. She thanked the pastor for praying that her agenda would be accomplished “without knowing what our plans were.”  Generally pastors pray to further God’s plan for an individual, not that person’s selfish plans.  So are we witnessing that prayer paying off?
