On the Fizzled Times Square Bombing Attempt

No, folks, this isn’t a tourist attraction: This surveillance camera photo, released by the New York City Police Department on Sunday, shows the Nissan Pathfinder used in the attempted attack on Times Square early Saturday evening.

A smoking Nissan Pathfinder packed with explosive items set New York law enforcement officials on the trail of the alleged Times Square bomber on Saturday, and by Tuesday a self-described lone plotter by the name of Faisal Shahzad had emerged as the sole suspect. The New York Times broke it all down on Tuesday.  —KA

The New York Times:

A video surveillance camera recorded what was believed to be the dark green Nissan S.U.V. driving west on 45th Street at 6:28 pm. Moments later, two street vendors on the sidewalk saw smoke coming out of vents near the back seat of the S.U.V., which was now parked awkwardly at the curb with its engine running and hazard lights on. They heard the sound of firecrackers going off inside the vehicle, and called out to a mounted police officer, who smelled gunpowder when he approached it and called for assistance. The police began evacuating Times Square, starting with businesses along Seventh Avenue, including a Foot Locker store and a McDonald’s.

ITW:
Allow me some small quibbles with your response.

“I’ve never seen ANYONE say you shouldn’t stop illegals while they are at the border.” That’s a straw man. We’re talking about seeing a group of Hispanics at the Home Depot, and being labeleed racist if you ask them their status.

“Nor have I seen ANYONE bemoan that the bomber wasn’t some tea-bagger.” In fact one major network talking head was explicitly hoping the perp wouldn’t turnout to be a dark skinned, Muslim foreigner, ie a white non-Muslim resident, ie, from her perspective, she hoped it was a teabagger. Others were quick to describe the perp as a “middle-aged white” guy after viewing some grainy surveillance videos.

And finally, one of the very first “conclusions” drawn by Bloomberg and administration spokesmen was that this “looked like a lone actor.” These bastards go out of their way to avoid saying what everybody else knows- most of the bad shit that’s happening is coming from Muslim nut-jobs.

And a final sweet irony: Seems like the guy has confessed that his attempt was revenge for all the drone attacks by US forces in Pakistan which have killed so many Taliban leaders. Obama supporters never tire of saying that their guy DOES have balls: Why, there have been more drone attacks under Obama than under Bush.

The only conclusion I can draw is that it’s Obama’s fault!

I suspect the whole thing is a ruse, you know, a false-flag, a distraction. The industry of war is getting an itchy trigger finger; dreams of legitimizing an attack on Pakistan; attack on Iran. What better way than by heightening the fear factor?

The very same day of the non-event, there was an arrogant walk out by the U.S. delegation to the nuclear summit meeting at the United Nations; a very lively discussion ensued that was completely circumcised by MSM, with its fizzling fireworks story.

Everything about this is just too story book, from beginning to end.

Whenever you see crowd begin to gather, always look the other way to find out what is really going on.

Big B:
Once again, your rightwing nutjobs DID NOT take down Clinton, or anybody else for that matter, did they? And as far as we know McVeigh only had one other accomplice. On the other hand, Clinton took down lots of rightwing nutjobs, including women and kids at Waco and Ruby Ridge.

Questions for you soft racists in the NYC area-where’s
the videos from the thousands of cameras in
bland, yuppyfied Times Square?  Ask widdle Mikey
Bloombucks(aka F.W. de Bloomberg) to stop screeching
like Donald Trump and wishing for the execution of
Faisal Shahzad before a trial is even convened.

I’m calling bullshit on this one.  How stupid do they (the elites who are apparently scared to death of us commoners) think we are?

A brief history lesson, rfidler.

After Clinton was elected in 1992 he was called the worst kind of names by the neo-cons, many being the same names that pres Barry is being called now (and the same ones Carter was called, Kennedy, FDR ect) But in 1992 things changed. The neo-cons, with the financial backing of large conservative media magnates (Murdoch) bought most of the floundering am radio stations in the US and flooded the airwaves the nazi stylings of Limbaugh, hannity, dobson and the like. At the same time Murdoch and Ailes started faux news so there was now a never ending droning of neo-conservative, populist, and fascist views to fan the flames of discontent among the newly “disenfranchised” reaganites and other right wing nuts jobs hiding out in their uni-bomber shacks, polishing their shotguns and waiting for their big chance to take down the newly elected socialist Clinton.

Mcveigh didn’t know it at the time, but he was there at the birth of the teabagger movement.

Rfidler, take a chill pill!  I’ve never seen ANYONE say you shouldn’t stop illegals while they are at the border.  Nor have I seen ANYONE bemoan that the bomber wasn’t some tea-bagger.

Anybody who isn’t glad this was stopped would be a true psychopath.  It was hard to believe it was just a random nut. Whoever does this is America’s Enemy.

Obama rightly praised the street vendors for calling the cops after seeing the smoking SUV. He and Mike Bloomberg said something to the effect, “If you SEE something that looks illegal, SAY something.” Extremely admirable sentiment.

UNLESS, OF COURSE, YOU SEE SOMEONE SNEAKING ACROSS THE BORDER FROM MEXICO TO ARIZONA! If you say something then, you’re a fucking racist.

Big B:
But the teabaggers DIDN’T do that, did they? How much more mileage are you going to squeeze out of Tim McVeigh? Besides, McVeigh did it way before Rush, and Beck and Sean etc had near the influence they have today. How come, if they’re so pernicious, Rush, et al haven’t spawned a wave of McVeigh wannabes?

Yea, rfidler is right! If the teabaggers had planned a public bombing they would have rented a U-Haul and filled it to the brim with a fertilizer bomb and parked it in front of a large government building filled with women and children, and then blame a “liberal” president for pushing the US towards socialism.

Oh wait, they already did that. See what angry white people can do when they put their bible thumping minds to it! Who needs Allah to stir the soup of discontent when you’ve got Rush and beck and hannity and dobson and….

I just know you progs are disappointed verging on suicidal over the fact that the Times Square bomber isn’t some fat, pasty-faced white, Bible thumpin’ teabagger. I know you’re thinking, “When will just one of these teabaggers do something violent to validate our prejudices?”

I do, however, part ways with my rightwing brethern on the issue of the cops Mirandizing him. He’s a US citizen and should be given the full protection of our laws.
