President Barack Obama is seen through the eyepiece of a video camera as he talks about health care reform at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pa., on March 8.

As part of his eleventh-hour push to win Americans over on the touchy topic of health care reform, President Barack Obama is throwing himself into the lion’s den. That’s right, the president is going willingly to Fox News to get the “fair and balanced” treatment from Bret Baier on Wednesday.  —KA

The Hollywood Reporter:

“This is a real opportunity to try to get some firm answers from President Obama on lingering questions about specifics in the health care legislation, the process Democrats are using to try to pass it, and the politics of its passage,” Baier said. “And it’s an opportunity to try to pin the president down on a few other hot topics. We welcome the opportunity and think it will be a benefit to our viewers.”

The president needs to do more of such risky moves if he wishes to make strides in his approval ratings. Though it might backfire and cause him to lose votes instead, it is probably one of the best ways to show the country what he is really worth and how he handles questions under stress and under a live audience.

The last sentence of the previous post should read: I can think of now no better champion of the ownership elite.

How strange that this is referred to as “health care reform”. For the United Healthcare Insurance Company it is a complete bonanza. The $3.8 billion net profit of last year will seem like chicken scratch, once this legislation is passed. When it comes to his love of corporate “free market’ capitalism, President Obama wears his heart on his sleeve. I can think of now better champion for the interests of the ownership elite.

Obama will appear on FOX to sell his bogus health care bill?  How nauseatingly appropriate.

hello. the celebrity Chicago salesman is absent on an energy policy, a drug war on our southern border, nuclear warheads in Iran, a growing national deficit with China and Internet security, but i am going to watch him put on tap shoes for government takeover of corporate health? why don’t we just give him his star on the walk of fame so he will go home? oh, he doesn’t have a home. he lives off other people. what is the urgency that makes him feel he is running out of time? 2 1/2 more years looks unbearable to me, but is he not intending to stick around? why the urgent song and dance, the pathetic grovelling across media control? what are his real motives? will we see him smoking a cigarette? will his narrow shoulders be buttressed with the newest corporate look? is the Fed going to begin printing his face on a three dollar bill? when will we have a President again?

Will Fox question Obama, who campaigned against mandated health insurance, on the subject of mandates at all?

I’m guessing not, but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Anyone else hear the deafening silence regarding this issue?

Where does the Federal Government find the right to mandate the purchase of anything, and why are no republicans talking about this? Why are no news orgs raising this during interviews? Go ahead, Fox make my day.

Strange how American politics seems to be one continuous publicity stunt.

Fox News is a right-wing, talking points megaphone that has less to do with news and more to do with the cognitive restructuring of the lower middle class population with a combination of violence and patriotism. Obama will succeed if his goal is to further tarnish the right wing’s credibility in domestic matters.
