Obama Exploring ‘Full Range of Options’ on Libya

White House / Samantha Appleton

President Obama discusses the Libyan situation at the White House on Thursday.

President Obama took a moment Thursday, during a news conference at the White House with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, to discuss the crisis in Libya and to indicate somewhat vaguely that he’s exploring “every option that’s out there” in terms of the U.S.’ possible responses.  —KA

AFP via Google News:

Accusing Moamer Kadhafi of encouraging violence against his citizens, Obama again called on the Libyan leader to stand down for the good of his country.

“We are looking at every option that’s out there, in addition to the non-military actions that we’ve taken. I want to make sure that those full range of options are available to me,” he said.

A no-fly zone, which US military leaders have warned would necessarily have to be preceded by US air strikes, “is one of the options that we would be looking at.”

Obama said he had authorized the use of US military aircraft to help move refugees who have fled the unrest in Libya, and was sending US teams to the border to help coordinate humanitarian aid efforts.

“I don’t want to be hamstrung,” Obama said. “I want us to be making our decisions based on what’s going to be best for the Libyan people, in consultation with the international community.

All this union busting, raping of the financial system, and budget haggling are all
getting pretty boring, so lets fire up another war and liven things up.

It seems to me a few pertinent facts are missing here.

Several European nations, three Libyan Ambassadors, Libyan rebel groups, neighboring African and Arab nations are seriously talking about a “No Fly Zone” over Libya, while it appear the United States is resisting the idea.

As I say; those facts appear to be missing in this article and on this thread.

According to the Times article, the military wing of the NFSL, using smuggled arms, quickly seized police and military posts in the The Libyan opposition, unlike the movements elsewhere in the Arab world, from the beginning appealed for international assistance. And the imperialists quickly responded.

For example, Mohammed Ali Abdallah, deputy secretary general of the NFSL, sent out a desperate appeal: “We are expecting a massacre.” “We are sending an SOS to the international community to step in.” Without international efforts to restrain Gadhafi, “there will be a bloodbath in Libya in the next 48 hours.”  The Wall Street Journal, the voice of big business, in a Feb. 23 editorial wrote that “The U.S. and Europe should help the Libyans overthrow the Gadhafi regime.”

The opposition group most widely quoted is the National Front for the Salvation of Libya. The NFSL, founded in 1981, is known to be a CIA-funded organization, with offices in Washington, D.C. It has maintained a military force, called the Libyan National Army, in Egypt near the Libyan border. A Google search of National Front for the Salvation of Libya and CIA will quickly confirm hundreds of references.

Also widely quoted is the National Conference for the Libyan Opposition. This is a coalition formed by the NFSL that also includes the Libyan Constitutional Union, led by Muhammad as-Senussi, a pretender to the Libyan throne. The web site of the LCU calls upon the Libyan people to reiterate a pledge of allegiance to King Idris El-Senusi as historical leader of the Libyan people. The flag used by the coalition is the flag of the former Kingdom of Libya.

Obama’s options will most likely be AIPAC’s Options when dealing with Libya. Obama & his staff are controlled by AIPAC/Zionist neocons. Libya is the largest oil producer in Africa ...So what is next down the road? Are we going down that same road…as we did in Iraq? Let the Libyan people & world pressure bring Kadafi down. We do not need another war where hundreds and may be thousands of women, children & innocent people getting killed by massive weapons & military occupation.

Obama & ‘AIPAC Hillary Clinton’ are willing to do just about anything against an Arab/African country. On the other hand, when it comes to Israel’s massive aggression against the Palestinians/Lebanese & Turkish humanitarian boat…Obama’s administration does NOT dare do anything. Israel is choking off 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza & controls the skies, land & sea where Palestinians are dying or getting killed on a daily basis ...and Israel’s IDF killers are having a field day with Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank & East Jerusalem.

Not a pip-squeak out of this timid US president/administration!

When AIPAC, Israel & Rothschild Zionism members speak, ... Obama & his administration are “Zionism’s controlled politicians”!!!

In the meantime, the mainstream “AIPAC News” media are on the sidelines beating those drums…just like they did against Iraq.

Above and below the table, the U.S. is Mexico’s Number
One trading partner. American demand for illegal drugs
fuels Mexican gang wars, American demand for cheap
labor fuels illegal immigration. The answer to
improving relations between our two countries is as
simple (and as complicated) as turning the tables, and
coming down like gang-busters on illegal demand.

If Obama pulls this off and paralyses Kadhafi without too much fuss it could be a
big win for his administration. Mind you the generals could screw it up royally as
history has proven.

My guess is that the Libyan fighter and bomber jets will stand down and park as
soon as coalition aircraft are in Kadhafi’s airspace. Anymore Libyan military
convoys would be suicide as well. Game over.

Ah, has that “slam dunk” mentality sneaked into the Whitehouse again? Has the
Commander in Chief been weighing his options with neocon retreads, associated
generals and Haliburton? I know Wall St. is more than likely good to go. Anyway
get ready for more of that “shock doctrine” and of course they are only concerned
about Libyan democracy and not the OIL.
