Obama Dials Down the Campaign RhetoricPosted on Feb 21, 2012
The whole “hope” thing is a little much, and the “change” bit is played out, so however will Barack Obama spin his slogans for this presidential campaign as the embattled incumbent? Let’s call it American Dream Lite, if you will. AP via My Way News: Four years after winning the White House, Obama is dealing with a different economic and political reality as he seeks re-election. He’s focused less on a lofty vision for overcoming divisions and remaking Washington, and more on the most basic building blocks of middle-class economic security: a job, a house, a college education for the kids, health care, money for retirement. What Obama describes as the American Dream can seem a spare, fundamental aspiration, tailored for a campaign that looks to be fought over who is best equipped to safeguard the interests of middle-class Americans. The question is whether it will convince, even as Mitt Romney and the other GOP presidential hopefuls mount a counter-argument that the president has made the American Dream harder, not easier, to achieve. And Obama must overcome the grinding realities many voters confront daily, even with the economy showing signs of life: no jobs, mortgages they can’t pay, dwindling retirement funds and college savings. Many here confuse being a “Good Democrat” (the party) with being a Liberal. Obama, Hilary and 98% of the Democrats in Congress are not Liberals. “Progressives” are no more Liberals than Yuppies are Hippies!
They proved this by not fighting for Single payer or a public Option; TARP. Dodd Frank and the endless Wars they vote for over and over.
Jill Stein and the Green Party are much close to my Liberal views, therefore I will no longer “throw my vote away” and vote Democrat.

Looks like it may take another four years to bring us to the turning point where our two favorite paths meet, the corner of “Greed Street” and “Hypocrisy Avenue.”

“Hilary was so right.”
Candidate Clinton declared that she would “Obliterate” Iran if they attacked Israel! Obliterate; end the life of every man woman and child in Iran to impress AIPAC.
We should not trade one monster for another.

Who are we kidding here people?
I was awake when Senator Obama voted for retro active immunity for the Telecom’s involvement in NSA spying.
I watched Senator Obama vote for TARP!
I listen to Candidate Obama when asked if he would renegotiate NAFTA and the WTO under conditions said “No!”
I watched President Obama allow the Bush “war criminals” walk free!
I was awake when President Obama locked up the Whistle Blowers!
I listen to President Obama take “Single payer” off the table and kill the “public option” in a back room.
I saw Obama cave to the Republicans and trade off Federal Health exchanges for State Exchanges!
I stood by and watched Mike Huckabee “punk” President Obama (Mau Mau Rebellion) into attacking Libya to assure the “old” colonial powers he was one of the boys.
I walked the earth when Obama murdered 3 US Citizens without a trial!
I have listen to Obama repeat that Reagan was his hero, and reintroduce the old Heritage Foundation scam of a “Pay Roll Tax Holiday” to defund Social Security.
I hear Obama beating the drums of war to go into Iran while the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq is still soaked with blood.
Hope my rear end! Under this Present we will never see a WPA, Universal Health care or Peace!
Anyone ever ask about the “quality” of the so-called jobs Obama claims to have created?

Let’s hope that the American voter has suffered so many turn-arounds in the last decade that s/he is over-spun at this point, and dying to hear just some simple truth about what needs to be done and can be done by a couple of modestly democratic changes: Get rid of the huge class gap (means the out-of-control super-rich profits), and stop trying to push the rest of the world around by sheer military strength and ignorance. It’s approaching the place where most of the middle class actually know more than the government thinks they know, and they don’t particularly want to hear about more of the same. Too many better opportunities are being missed, and they know it. They want to get in out of the cold barren “know-nothing” cage where commercial media try to keep them. Speak to them with some sincerity this time. The political “game” is over and they want real democracy like it says in the Constitution, including habeas corpus, equal justice for all, less imprisonment, less “drug war” and certainly less aggression and military strutting. This is a whole new, diffenent world now. It demands new approaches. Brainless slogans and promises aren’t enough.
Report thisFor starters, stop police beating up young protesters and jailing whistle-blowers. Listen to them. They just might know more about the future than you do.
