Notre Dame Sues Obama Administration Over Birth Control Mandate

The University of Notre Dame is suing over President Obama’s federal contraceptive mandate.

The University of Notre Dame, along with other Catholic groups, filed lawsuits Monday against the Obama administration over a federal mandate that requires most employers to provide free contraceptives as part of their health insurance plans for workers. The suits were filed in eight states plus Washington, D.C., making them the largest push back against the controversial policy since President Obama announced it in January.

“We do not seek to impose our religious beliefs on others,” said the Rev. John Jenkins, Notre Dame’s president. “We simply ask that the government not impose its values on the university when those values conflict with our religious teachings.”

The Huffington Post:

Other religious colleges and institutions have already filed federal suit over the mandate, but observers had been closely watching for Notre Dame’s next step.

The university, among the best-known Catholic schools in the country, has indicated past willingness to work with Obama, despite their differences with him on abortion and other issues. Notre Dame came under unprecedented criticism from U.S. bishops and others in 2009 for inviting Obama, who supports abortion rights, as commencement speaker and presenting him with an honorary law degree.

It is not their religious freedom to take away other’s, including their employees and members, freedom of choice on full medical coverage. That is denying others their religious freedom to please yourself. They ssem to want to use religious freedom to promote their dogmatic view on everything these day as if we are supposed to be impressed by what they image3 their god wants us to do and force it on us in violation of our free will. One gets the idea that instead of their god speaking through them it is them speaking through their god.

Isn’t it like the roman empire/pagan roman catholic church to attempt to take away the FREE WILL given by GOD.

You are looking at the ultimate control of the new world order/one world government.

They’ve had world domination before, but now, with the network of HAVES lending their support, working to usher them in, the seat of satan on Earth feels they will never have to relinquish that control again.

And why are the HAVES doing this-for their own status quo. The HAVES want to remain HAVES. We, as HAVE NOTS, become feudal serfs-SLAVES…or DEAD. Their’s no place for WORTHLESS, USELESS eaters in the NWO (see GEORGIA GUIDESTONES…thank you Ted Turner)

Dear Truthdig:  I am a fringe writer, member of a small but vocal group of fringe writers and activists, and I have a question:  Barack Obama couldn’t even control his own birth, so why does he think he has the right to control anybody else’s?
Er ...................?

Let us just say I am casting my vote here. If the church wants to be exempted from compensation laws to their teachers and students, than remove all public money from their coffers, including tax exemption. Then they will not beholden to the rest of the nation at all except for need for police protection and public services, but then they will be able to pay their share for a change.

The Catholic Church sucked the life out of the Roman Empire by tying up the wealth and excepting themselves from much of civic life and giving refuge to young men in monasteries.

Considering the Vatican has declared that no Catholic Politician will enforce laws that do not agree with the Vatican’s directives, I ask a question, “Why are Catholic’s running for office at all and how can they swear to uphold the laws as Judges if they will be excomunicated?”

Bellidget* the Drunk Irish Midget is red-faced and hopping mad that his punchy homunculi can find no eggs to crack.

Notre Dame is just pissed because their football teams sucks and will continue to suck for the rest of eternity.  Academically, the school is pretty second rate too.

Sure Big B, let’s “make war” against everyone who disagrees with you, what a great idea.  And if those pacifist Quakers get testy if we force their colleges to have an ROTC program or Jews object to being forced to serve pork in their cafeterias, hell, we can make war on them too.  After all, no one should be allowed to live their lives according to their own personal beliefs and convictions.  Village Voice columnist Nat Henthoff had it right about fake progressives such as yourself, “freedom for me but not for thee.”

If you take the public’s money you have to abide by it’s laws.

I’m tired of subsidizing someone elses bottom line.

Fuck Notre Dame!

It’s time to pull their “tax free, non profit status” away from them. Its time to make war against the catholic church, and force all those american catholics out there who are supposedly pro-birth control and pro womens rights to stand up and be counted. What are you people? mindless fucking sheep? Either get involved and bring your “church” into the 20th century, or abandon the trappings of modern life and go back into the 17th century that you chose not to leave. Catholics and other good christians, like their fundamentalist muslim counterparts, are holding us back. They either need to get with the program, or get the hell out. There is no room in the future for religious mumbo jumbo. The planet is warming up and the resources are dwindling. And all the prayer in the world ain’t gonna stop it.
