Who made your week by speaking truth to power, blowing the whistle or standing up to injustice?

Truthdigger of the Week is a feature in which we recognize a person or group that made a difference.

See past winners here. Nominate this week’s winner here.

Last week, we recognized 9th Circuit Justice Stephen Reinhardt, who put a fine point on his court’s decision to rule California’s Prop. 8 unconstitutional.

Congratulation to Lt. Davis. But Truthdig needs to define “Week” with greater clarity. If I had known that I would have nominated Martin Luther King.

Lisa Chan for her very sincere and genuine apology for her role in Republican operative Pete Hoekstra’s racist Super Bowl add.

Its gotta be Lt. Col. Daniel Davis. He is risking everything this late in his career to speak the truth about the war machine in Afganistan.

Greek protesters can get it next week when things get worse.

Peace

Lt. Col. Daniel Davis, the Army officer who made public the results of his year-long analysis of the Afghan War and the lack of “progress” in that decade-long morass is an obvious choice.

I don’t have a beef with the protesters in greece, they clearly deserve recognition. I just feel strongly about this issue and the fact that the over 50 crowd is stepping up is quite significant. peace be with you.

The protesters in Greece—
because they’re mad as hell
and won’t take it anymore.

Hopefully they will succeed with their revolution
so that the so-called democracies of the world will have to take notice.

I believe Washington State Representative Maureen Walshm (R) should be Truthdigger of the Week based on her heartfelt and atriculate defense of same sex married law being considered in WA State. She not only made the difference in getting the legislation passed but she also opened to the world the psychological battle of loosing a partner late in life. Her speech, I believe, will be seen over and over due to its impact on many over 50s desire for peace and love, no matter the gender it arises from.
