Nominate Our Next Truthdigger of the WeekPosted on Dec 5, 2011
Who made your week by speaking truth to power, blowing the whistle or standing up to injustice? Truthdigger of the Week is a feature in which we recognize a person or group that made a difference. See past winners here. Nominate this week’s winner here. Last week, we recognized U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff, whose decision to block the proposed $285 million settlement between the SEC and Citigroup proved once again that he’s game to take on some of the country’s most powerful and corrupt institutions and policies. Although I give Kudos to the L.A. city council for passing its symbolic initiative to end corporate personhood (after Occupy L.A. was evicted?)...
I would go with, if not Amy Goodman (again), who has been covering the COP 17 in Durban….
Any of the many climate change activists she has been speaking with.
Global warming is the most important issue on the planet.
If you wanted to go with an ironic nomination, you might pick climate change denier Mark Morano, not for his bullshit stance on climate change, but for speaking the truth about the stance the Obama administration has taken:
“They [the Obama administration] have kept the exact same principles and negotiating stance as President George Bush did for eight years,” Morano says. “Obama has carried on Bush’s legacy. So, as skeptics, we tip our hat to President Obama in helping crush and continue to defeat the United Nations process. Obama has been a great friend of global warming skeptics at these conferences.”

I would like to nominate ardee and Leefeller. Perhaps gerard as a runner-up. Each hold strong, unbending, and passionate convictions.
Mostly I desire to know more about each of these individuals so that I and others may, in solidarity, ‘Occupy’ their front lawns.
