Truthdig’s home page has a new layout designed to give you our newest articles, videos and blogs in one easy-to-browse column.

All items, whether they are Reports, Arts & Culture, Ear to the Ground or A/V Booth, now flow in chronological order in one shared space. You can still find those sections in their traditional unblended format, along with other favorites like the Chris Hedges page, by using the navbar at the top of the home page.

In addition, you’ll notice a “trending” bar with links to current tags, an expanded search box and more room for editorial cartoons.

We hope you like the new look. Please share your feedback and questions in the comments section below.

Cheers,

The Truthdig Team

New and Improved Comments

We are launching a major overhaul of our comments section.

In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread.

Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts.

Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with.

Please direct any problems or concerns to us via our contact page.

A format change should either solve a problem or improve the functionality. This does neither. It’s a confusing mish-mash of everything.  Please restore the Truthdig we know and love and are accustomed to navigating. I read several sites every day and having to wade through all this to find what I want is annoying and time-consuming. This really wasn’t broke. Why did you have to fix it?

I like it.  Clean and bright and attractive to the eye.  Good work.

A change for the worse in my opinion, but I’m sure you have your reasons.

Don’t listen to crotchety old EmileZ.

same Truthdig not really. I liked it better when you had a “report” column and not this blended mess that is mostly “ear to the ground” articles. Also too many cartoons.

Nothing wrong with the new layout. It’s good. But I would like to be able to reply
to a comment as is possible on the Huffington Post blog. It would make the thread
more meaningful to me.

quite a few people have noted that your comment layout
would be better if you allowed people to reply to
another’s comment by say indenting their reply to that
specific comment.  it was set up that way when i first
came across this site in 2008….really don’t know why
you changed.

An improvement would be more responsive posting of unregistered commenter comments as well as better weekend staffing and content updating.

Darn budgets.

The pictures (many of them in strident colors) are definitely too large for the page making the articles column look more like an afterthought. Homepage design should emphasize the main purpose of the website. There was nothing wrong with the old page. Anyway, not the worst of our problems… thanks for your work.

Tears!  From this first issue shaping up, it appears that pictures are going to take over. Really???

Much better design layout. Easy on the brain. A keeper.

Frankly, I’m more interested in improving content than in layout.

New layout is an improvement; straightforward and clear.  Please don’t keep trying to update; a mistake many sites make.  Readers need to feel familiar with the “look” of a favorite site.  I’m convinced one reason for the popularity of the right wing Drudge Report is its simple and non-changing layout.
