The famous dome of Epcot Center at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

In the wake of George Zimmerman’s acquittal in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, is going after Florida’s all-important tourism industry.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, 85.9 million people visited Florida in 2011, and tourism supplies 1 million jobs in the state of 19 million people.

MoveOn has an online petition that reads:

We’re boycotting Florida tourism until the “stand your ground” law is overturned. Your state is not a safe place to vacation if your citizens are able to kill anyone they deem suspicious.

Petition Background
Florida is not a safe place to take your family for vacation as long as Florida law permits a citizen to shoot or kill you for merely looking suspicious, and to do it with impunity. Boycott Florida tourism until this dangerous law is overturned. If the murder of Trayvon Martin isn’t enough to get lawmakers’ attention, maybe a loss in revenue to the state will be.
