Michigan’s GOP Primary: Now With More DemocratsPosted on Feb 28, 2012
According to exit polls and Nate Silver, 41 percent of the people voting in Michigan’s Republican primary identify as Democrat or independent. That’s up nine points from 2008 and suggests “Operation Hilarity,” a campaign for Democrats to damage Mitt Romney, may be succeeding. Hoping to capitalize, Rick Santorum’s campaign launched robocalls lobbying Democrats to support the former Pennsylvania senator. —PZS Advertisement Previous item: Republican Snowe Drops Out of the Battle for the Senate Next item: Time Out: Let’s Talk About Race New and Improved CommentsIf you have trouble leaving a comment, review this help page. Awhile back Rush Limbaugh shamelessly suggested doing the same thing in the Democratic primary. I am 100% against this being done by either party! If one takes Democracy seriously, underhanded games such as this should be considered akin to treason!
That being said, I voted for Ron Paul yesterday in Michigan. I declared myself an Independent at the polling place and voted for a man I may not agree with when it comes to his economic policies, but on everything else we see eye to eye. Mostly, I want to see Paul and Obama debate foreign policy and civil liberties!
If given a choice between Obama and Romeny, I will vote Green (Jill Stein).

Nothing to see here. This tactic has been used by both parties during the primaries for generations. Its one of the reasons that primaries should be eliminated. Their only purpose is to eliminate the poorer, less connected candidates from the equation. Its why neither party has changed since the great depression.
