Mexican President Felipe Calderon, who has conducted a deadly war with drug cartels since 2006, said he is open to debating the legalization of drugs, although his office maintains that he opposes the idea.

AP via Google:

Calderon said he has taken note of the idea of legally regulating drugs in the past.

“It’s a fundamental debate in which I think, first of all, you must allow a democratic plurality (of opinions),” he said. “You have to analyze carefully the pros and cons and the key arguments on both sides.”

Insane corrupt government on both sides of the border. Big drug $$$$$$ reaching to the top. Black market underground spook double agent economy. Excuse for continued civil liberty/search and seizure/civil rights destruction. D.C. is window dressing. There is no government. Only gangsters. Wake up!!

July 1,234 deaths about 44 killings a day. Like Portugal did 9 years ago, legalized all drugs, their crime rate fell through the floor, less teenage addiction, less criminal because treated as a medical problem.
Mexico needs to strike out on its own, away from USA military, that is supporting the drug cartels,
yes without USA military equipment and technology the American trained Zetas, would not be in Power. The USA historically supports both sides of any battle, never let a dissaster go to waste, If the cartel gives us 50 billion America dollars, will match with ARMS, ANYTHING for a buck!
So Mexicans and border Americans get fu—ed for a buck! Tell the truth OBAMA MAN!
Set up Mexico to be a failed state and make it look like it`s their own fault, why not makes killing a lot easier!USA has done this throughout S.America, why not Mexico!

hello. give me a call. i’m in the book, you lying phony DEA puppeteer. i’ll debate the cannabis drug cartel money-supply-side economics with you. lumping all drugs into the discussion, obviates your insincerity. nobody wants armies of self medicated heroin addicted murderers roaming city streets, and cannabis does not have that hook. nobody dies from smoking it, and nobody murders from using it. this is your public relations campaign to legitimize millions of American tax payer dollars into your coffers to continue fighting for our war on drugs. murderer.

It is about time. In Mexico and in the USA.
The history channel is running a documentary on the drug policies in this country and I was fascinated to learn that the Marijuana laws were pushed mainly by border states to Mexico in order to suppress and evict Mexicans and/or Latinos. Outlawing a weed was not popular and constitutionally questionable, but then it happened in 1937. The government forced a law that required a Marijuana permit that it just didn’t give, modeled after machine gun permit that also was not issued. William Randolph Hurst and Hollywood brainwashed the masses into believing that this weed will cause mass psychosis. Personally, I think that not smoking weed makes you vulnerable to become a corporate slave and bypass your life but that’s just me.

If Calderon were to legalize drugs, he would immediately incur the wrath of the powers pushing the
very profitable “war on drugs” here/there in the U.S.

Hi, cyrena! I haven’t heard from you in a long time. I haven’t been on this blog recently. I’ve been hanging out at the Rachel Maddow blog.

‘Narco Tourism’! It’s brilliant. Mexico will have to build a “wall” to keep the
American dopers from pouring over the border.

The drug war is the result of not drugs but decades of failed Mexican government economic policies that pushed all advantages up to the few at the top.Unless Mexico reforms it’s government to be responsive to all not just a prilaged few.
It must be noted that this is the result we are getting with the Radical Repubs economic Marie Antionette type policies.Give all privliages to the top 1% and let the masses eat the cake crumbs, supply side economics at its best.
