Never mind Joe Arpaio’s amazingly xenophobic and illegal policing practices concerning immigrants: An internal memo in the Maricopa County’s sheriff’s office is alleging that “America’s Toughest Sheriff” helped conduct politically motivated investigations and surveilled Arpaio’s own campaign rivals. —JCL

Los Angeles Times:

Top officials in the office of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio used its anti-corruption unit to conduct politically motivated investigations, misled the public about a campaign fund that helped Arpaio win reelection and surveilled the Arizona lawman’s campaign rivals, according to an internal memo from a high-ranking officer.

The 63-page memo, first reported Thursday by the Arizona Republic, blames Arpaio’s longtime No. 2 man, Chief Deputy Dave Hendershott, for the alleged criminal wrongdoing.

It comes as a federal grand jury is examining whether Arpaio and allies in the local prosecutor’s office abused their power by investigating and prosecuting political foes. Arpaio’s department is also the subject of a separate federal civil rights investigation into whether it uses racial profiling while enforcing immigration laws.

Ah, the old “someone I know who knows a guy said he
heard somebody else say… ” - This is not news, its
grasping at straws, hoping one might have some poop
on it.
IF there is any wrongdoing you can bet the OJD
(obama justice dept) will have a heard of, cough,
Lawyers all over this.
As for that matter, do any of you really think that
Sheriff Joe has so much clout that he can thumb his
nose at the OJD? He’s been investigated for over 2
years! When no REAL dirt could be found this BS
about documents is the OJD’s only recourse?
You may not agree with Sheriff Joe (and plenty of
folks don’t) it doesn’t alter this bald-faced attack
on law enforcement - and if, as James H. above put
it, you don’t want law enforcement you’d better be
prepared for the fallout of rampant crime…. or is
it just a racial hatred of Whites thing? We all know
racism is a one-way street, so don’t be shy about it
now - its cool to hate Whitey now-a-days, especially
in LA.
Either way, put up or shut up - charge Joe with a
crime or go pound sand, but do it TODAY!!

The arrogance of this badged clown is amazing! He’s become a legend in his own mind, and nothing is going to pry the controls of power from his hands unless it’s a more powerful legal force. The treatment of the inmates in his Nazi-styled, concentration-camp jail is world-infamous. It’s time for this self-inflated fascist to stand down. Personally, I’d like nothing better than to see him do ninety days in his own joke of a jail before being tarred and feathered.
