Manning’s Treatment AssailedPosted on Mar 11, 2011
“Ridiculous ... counterproductive ... stupid.” Those are the words chosen by U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley to describe the country’s treatment of Pfc. Bradley Manning, the alleged WikiLeaker being held in solitary confinement in a military jail. —JCL

Again “sallysense” takes personally observations offered by this Old Man that’re not really about herown"self at-all,” but about something she addressed to a grand exalted personage who isn’t even participating in this discussion, but a “message” which she nevertheless chose to display here for all to see….and to comment upon, if so inclined. Then she, again, generates a smokescreen of juvenile and mostly “self”-referential “questions,” whose “answers” ought to already be readily accessible to anybody who reads attentively this Old Man’s comments here….including those on this thread. Is she perhaps hoping to avoid having to consider the rather pertinent (but maybe acutely uncomfortable) question of whether there is (or ever was) actually any “government” in these parts with a reliable record of responding as hoped or expected to any blizzard of paper (and its “modern” electronic virtual equivalent) generated by “individual”-ized members of its subject citizenry?
Neither “sallysense” nor “gerard,” who also seems to have yet a great deal of faith in the responsiveness to mere words of a police-powered institutional arrangement showing every sign these days (and since its very inceptions, to those of us paying our precious attention to its actual machinations, rather than to its incessant “exceptional”-ist propaganda) of having been long-since hijacked by the “global” gangster element whose rules are in-force in the virtual world-o’-hurt, have said whether they are now taking, or might be willing to take, the kind of perhaps Personally demanding (even risky) actions mentioned in this Indian’s previous post. Instead, “gerard” suggests it might be ‘counter-productive’ (and not very nice) to refer to those behaving just like gangsters do, as….well, gangsters.
If this Old Savage had never offered anything here other than plain-spoken descriptions of the “civilization” disease, its generating entity, and those among its Human infectees who are either its “self"chosen-few principal ‘agents’ or the “huddled masses” of Human livestock whom those “power”-mongers “manage,” that might’ve still been more than sufficient to warrant a clear-eyed look. The fact is, though, a specific remedy for the ailment has been named, described, and recommended….Medicine actually available to any and every Natural Person who get’s beyond the fear-ridden obstacle of their much too precious “self,” comes together with more of their Kind in the Organic Form of Living Human Communities, fulfilling the Organic Function of Humanity as a vital component in the immune system of the Living Arrangement of our Mother Earth, and thus healing Her and each other in the actual doing of it. The kid-stuff of merely “petition(ing) their government for redress of their grievances,” instead, is about as likely to “succeed” as would a request from Pvt. Manning that his guards open-up the prison doors and let him go home.
The would-be “destroyers of the Earth” are already “all-in.” The kind of touchy-feely incrementalism so many of our tame Sisters and Brothers among theamericanpeople CONtinue to prefer apparently, while understandable considering their addiction to comfort and CONvenience, is as woefully inadequate to our actual Living Need here as their severely dysfunctional lack-of-participation, in the Organic responsibilities of Humanity, is (in the immortal words of Perry Mason) “irrelevant, incompetent, and immaterial.”
Obviously the tormentors are quite willing to kill for their “cause”....leaving it only to be seen whether conscientiously objecting concerned citizens here will put their own presently no more than half-lives on-the-line for what they claim is their cause.

You know something? I really don’t think it’s such a great idea to talk down
what anybody tries to do for any good cause, whether it looks naive or not. and

hiya tao walker… for as often as you continue with comments referring to me… you still haven’t answered the questions asked of you pertaining to your first comment referring to me…
(don’t you know your own comments well enough to be able to answer questions about them?)...
this is again (the fourth time now) directed to you regarding your comment referring to me in the “manning might face death penalty” ear-to-the-ground article of march 2nd…
“this country is home to many different people… which humans are you referring to?... which humans are you not referring to?...
this country is home to many different ways of living… which modes of being are you referring to?... which modes of being are you not referring to?...
and which portrayals in your post don’t apply to you?... and which portrayals in your post do apply to you?”...
now if by some chance my reading has overlooked your answers… please direct me to where they are…
and if there are none… consider this…
the questions can give conscientiousness more chances to ignore them… and continue within the confines of just posting opinions referring to me…
or the questions can give conscientiousness itself a chance to actively participate… beyond the confines of just posting opinions referring to me…
and yes indeed… bob dylan’s neat song “political world” sure rings true with things!...
so why don’t you just take your own version of politics out of your opinions and references to me… and just let your conscientiousness simply answer those questions ?...
best wishes’n'ways for today to dawn on!...

Surely all those concerned “individuals” conscientiously objecting here (there and everywhere), to the U.S. gov’t's criminal (by its own much-trumpeted-and-often-enforced-against-‘others’-but-rarely-met-by-itself “standards”) treatment of Pvt. Manning, are also bravely withholding all financial support from that government. Surely everyone is refusing to aid-and-abet that terrorist (by its own definition of such things) organization in any way whatsoever. Surely they do not accept from it any of the bloodstained “benefits” and “entitlements” these stone-cold killers use to obtain the “CONsent” of their subject citizenry….who seem, mostly, to be pretty cheap lays.
Again, though, “sallysense” and “gerard” (probably among many others), evidently relying on a programmed pollyanna-ish belief that there actually exists an institutional CONstruct with the responsive characteristics that’d make mere letter-writing a beneficially effective “stimulus,” affirm Bob Dylan’s ‘take,’ when he sang about all those half-living “....in a political world.” “(Y)ou’re trained to take what looks like the easy way out.”
The “global” gulag regime runs (and has always run) entirely on gangster rules. The “basic rule” is (and has always been) FEAR. These days that chronic CONdition has once again metastasized into yet another outright reign-of-terror….dead-certain this time, however, to be terminal, finally.
The ruthless gangsters running this maximum security set-up have no “shame” and feel no “guilt.” They couldn’t care less, either, about any “credibility gap,” between their by-the-book boiler-plate “exceptional”-ist rhetoric and their rabidly-vicious everyday egregious behavior.
Nice try, though, Ladies and Gentlemen.

I wrote a commendatory letter to Clinton at the State Dept. yesterday, commending her assistant for speaking the truth in this case. It might be helpful if she got more letters; one never knows what is effective, but certainly a brief note might help solidify this stand. Remember, we are countering probably thousands of wild-eyed right wing pleas for persecution. Numbers count. Thanks.

(Another letter sent to the President.)
Mr. President,
Please properly investigate the possible/probable inhumane treatment of PFC Bradley E. Manning, being detained in the United States Marine Corps Quantico Brig in Virginia.
Common sense tells the conscience that possible/probable inhumane treatment must be fully investigated.
Facts of the case, as reported by David Coombs, PFC Manning’s defense lawyer, indicate that:
Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrel has stated that PFC Manning has been a model detainee.
Brig forensic psychiatrists have continually stated that there’s no mental health justifications for the extreme conditions of PFC Manning’s detainment.
Quantico Commander Colonel Daniel Choike has denied a fair request by PFC Manning to be removed from the medically unnecessary extreme current conditions of his detainment.
Chief Warrant Officer Denise Barnes used a sarcastic remark made by PFC Manning, (referring to the waistband in his shorts), as a unfair convenient excuse to unjustifiably further increase the extreme conditions of PFC Manning’s detainment, with no contact of, nor recommendations from, the mental health staff to do so.
The Brig (excluding mental health staff as they don’t recommend the extreme current conditions) is using loopholes in policies to unfairly increase the extreme conditions of PFC Manning’s detainment.
These extreme conditions, inconsistencies between policies, and possible/probable abuse of authority, must be investigated.
The communication and exercise and sleep of PFC Manning is being severely restricted to the viable concern of inhumaneness.
Hence, to now rely on the sole assurance of those allegedly behind this alleged mistreatment, does nothing to justly bring the truth to light.
Our country’s principles of conscientiousness, deserve to have a serious matter such as this be fully investigated by unbiased independent third parties.
Again, please properly investigate the possible/probable inhumane treatment of PFC Bradley Manning.
Anything less falls short of truth and justness, and hence the American way, as your words so often convey.
Sincerely,
Sally Kline

This man has not had his day in court and therefore has not been convicted of anything. When did punishment start before the trial. He should be out on bail until the legalities are sorted out.
Torture is Torture and this current path the government has taken to defend its secrets is a worse crime than any that Private Manning can be accused of.
Remember this, most of the Secrets are only secret to protect the bad behavior of government and a substantial part of those secrets that might be defendable have already been discovered by the foreign powers that they were to be hiden from. Punishing people for revealing secrets that aren’t secret is really a silly business even for the idiots pretending to be responsible leaders. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

It would not be surprising if the military has developed a taste for torture. After all, it’s a primary tactic of violent retribution and was made at least semi-legal by Bush/Cheney Inc. We loyal citizens had better organize and repeal the “Patriot Act before it repeals us.
