Apparently Zeus is as displeased with BP as everybody else. A bolt of lightning struck the ship working to capture oil in the Gulf, causing a fire and shutting down the containment effort for the time being.

AP via Yahoo:

The fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured. BP said it hopes to resume containing oil from the well sometime Tuesday afternoon.

The fire occurred on the Discoverer Enterprise, where engineers are siphoning about 630,000 gallons of oil a day through a cap on top of the well.

The American Republic would pull all drilling permits from BP until further notice!

The current system of government in America is weak and needs to stand up and throw BP and its associates out of the oil arena. Pulling all drilling permits and not renewing anymore, sending in the military to surround all rigs and escort those responsible off of American soil is the only way to take control. Using American ingenuity to fix the problems of the oil leaks rather than depending on the ignorance and lies of BP officials is the route that should be taken. This is yet another reason why Nationalizing the oil industry under government is vital. Not under the corrupt system of government now in America, but under the new American Republic in 2012.
Obama and his staff are showroom dummies are weak and do have the American Backbone that is required to stand up and throw BP out. Too many indigenous creatures including mankind will suffer because of the greed and mistakes made which led to this oil disaster. We need and will get leadership in America that will not allow these business concerns to come to America and rape its resources while taking advantage of the corruption that exists in American government.
The majority of Americans are more concern about who will win American Talent shows and the lifestyles of movie stars than what is currently happening around them right now!
It’s time for a real change, a real paradigm shift that will help Americans get their dignity and respect back, and getting Americans back to work so they can live the life promised to them by their government so long ago!

jean gerard is right on. Everything is breaking down or broken down. I know few who think that believe anything in the media. All news is spin and it gets worse everyday. People are not doing swell. The corporate masters are busy ravaging the planet and using Federal Reserve Notes as the reason why. Human and all other life is cheaper and cheaper as the currency is inflated. Huge events are happening out of control. The American republic is a problem for the planet. BP is struggling to treat America as another 3rd world country whose resources they’ve come to exploit, and are meeting with a kind of co-operative resistance because the indigenous powerful are confused about old philosophical words and 18th century economic notions. Lies are flowing as the oil gusher gets worse; confidence in recovering wanes. The oil men put us on this path in WWI. They knew where it would lead and did everything they could to ride the wave. All resistance was futile. A darkened future is seen by all. Panic in the gut replaces the Bush era of feeling righteousness and red white & blue… A lightning bolt out of the blue skies strikes the one ship that was doing anything…as if! I can’t get myself to think it so. Another lie. If I think on it, I can come up with a more fitting explanation. Picture the military secret satellite laser cannon having been moved from its regular orbit over some Imperial Empire third world frontier mountainous country and now hovering above the corporately owned legal jumble of an oil industry presence in the gulf of Mexico. Just to demonstrate who is boss, the military brass fire the warning shot right into her Britannic Majesty’s bow. So BP gets a 21st century fiery smack on their British fannies and the operation gets a bit more secretive and more militarized. The poor work the sunny beaches, the rich talk in smoke filled rooms, the gun ships in outer space are not talked about. The police contractors appear to get their orders from themselves. As if.

Pat Robertson was right after all. He blamed the disaster in Haiti on voodoo. Let’s not forget Louisiana is the number one voodoo state in the nation.

Your economy is insolvent.  You’re fighting an illegal war against poverty-
stricken people in a country you don’t understand.  You left behind in Iraq a
disaster area you caused but never cleaned up or recompensed.  Your only ally
in the area is threatening to nuke one or more of its neighbors.  Even your own
people can’t believe what you say because you’ve developed a culture of lies
and deceits at home, with punishments for people who try to complain or talk
back. Millions of them are unemployed, under-educated, unhealthy, unhappy,
scared silly.  And on top of all that, you can’t trust the powerful people you
chose to run the country because they allow people with even more power and
less common sense to control them.

Meantime, the earth is getting warmer, believe it or not, and you keep trying to
deny it.  Then you have this awful stuff pouring out from the inside of the earth
and filling the oceans with black muck and nobody knows how to stop it.

Hello!

This is beyond ridiculous. There should be an entire fleet of ships from all over the World siphoning and skimming and sucking as much as is humanly possible - and much of the World has actually offered - but has been turned down - not by BP but by the US Govt.

The latest report on Oped News is extremely scary. This is a potential real doomsday scenario with a possible uncontrollable volcanic like release under enormous pressure. The only solution may be to drill multiple wells to try and relieve the pressure, and that may not be possible for a considerable period because sufficient drilling rigs may not actually exist that can drill at such depth and they will have to be built.

There should be a Worldwide immediate emergency response to this, and everyone involved has got to start telling the truth.

This is way beyond arguing about money or blame.

Its about finding solutions that work as quickly as possible.

What does it take to kick start some real action?

This could be the most serious emergency the planet has ever faced and all we are getting is bullshit and buckets.

Tony
