L.A. Police, Crowds Clash at May Day Rally

Around 35,000 protesters marched for immigrants’ and workers’ rights in Los Angeles on May Day, according to the L.A. Times.  Other sources give higher numbers for this year’s turnout.  The rallies continued without major incident until the early evening, when police in riot gear arrived to break up a gathering at MacArthur Park.

L. A. Times:

The violence began unfolding when a helicopter flew low over the east side of the park and sirens blasted as police ordered people out of the park, telling them they would be arrested if they didn’t leave.

The police formed a riot line across the park on the east side, forcing the crowd to move west. Some participants were yelling at police, “You can’t do this.”

About 6:45 p.m., police ordered the last people out of MacArthur Park, mostly news personnel and some marchers filming the police actions, declaring an “unlawful assembly.”

One of those at the scene, Hamid Khan, who works at South Asia Network, termed the police action “absolutely an atrocity” and said officers overreacted.

The police action had cut short several speeches, he said, as people left when the confrontation began. “All this shooting is an atrocity,” he said.

I have a question.
What is Blackwater doing in this country?
Has Blackwater set up BS (Bush Squads) in this country to attack protestors?

When I watched the VIDEO on Democracy Now, my memory went back to the LA riots in 1992.

What better way to justify arresting and locking up dissenters than to be the trigger that could be used as the reason the people rioted? That certainly would pull a lot of conservatives disgusted with current leadership back to Bush’s side.

If the Mayor doesn’t know what happened, maybe someone needs to ask the Governor.

I would bet my bottom dollar that the concertative people are glad, even though concertative people are the ones that began this hiring of illegals, after all if the rich are concertative and the concertative people own businesses who are the ones who will benefit from illegals, after all the rich and concertative just love to hold on to their money, just so they can look down on the poor and uneducated, but being poor has nothing to with being uneducated.

The reason for all of this illegal bashing is because so many low paying jobs have been outsourced that something has to be given the highschool drop outs, and the highschool graduates, because high school graduation does not get you a high paying job, it may get you a job at McDonalds or Starbucks, and even there those who talk and writeget the job over people who cannot talk the Engish language with good understanding, that lets out some people from some schools.

But then the other side of the coin is the social security numbers that are used by illegals, not to mention the identies that are stolen, something has got to give,  another side of the coin is how hard is it for illegals to get into this country legally?

What is really hurting the economy is the number of people who have to go to the hospital emergency ward for services.

The main reason for the people coming here is jobs, but sooner or later the jobs will dry up and then will it be like the people during the 30’s if someone works for 25 cents, then someone will undercut that person and say I will work for 20 cents and so on and so on.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa stated minutes ago to a reporter in El Savador that based on what he saw that, “the police used excessive force”.
