Kyodo

Japanese Coast Guardsmen hold the dog rescued off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture on Friday.

Just to prove that things aren’t all bad in the world, here’s a bit of uplifting news. The Japanese Coast Guard plucked a small dog from wreckage floating three miles at sea three weeks after the earthquake and tsunami that ravaged the country’s northeast coast. —JCL

Kyodo via Japan Times Online:

The canine castaway was spotted by helicopter at around 4 p.m. by a special rescue unit from the 3rd Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, operating out of Yokohama.

The team’s initial rescue attempt failed after the dog, perhaps scared by the hovering helicopter, jumped from the roof over to nearby driftwood.

A rescue boat with three guardsmen was then dispatched and succeeded in catching the pooch an hour later by using rescue stretchers.

Nice to see a bit of good news for a change, though it must have been a terrifying ordeal for the poor dog.

Great, the dog story.. NEXT!

Can we see something about Tower 7?

Or about how the hierarchy will REFUSE to dismantle their nuclear stranglehold on the citizenry of the world?

Oh I know, how about the U.S. of Amerikan military dictatorship reality since WWII?

Oh, what?  Those too true to print?

If so, this rag is made up of lackeys, shills and minstrels… or dark hearts… either way, the truth is not being dug in here, only buried.

Nice the dog survived and got rescued.

The one thing you do not see in Japan, as
happened in Fascist USA, is military force being
sent in to kill the people who are trying to survive
by whatever means they can.

Some people perceive pets as possessions and others perceive them as family members. Animals are innocent, defenseless and vulnerable to abuse, neglect and even death. They need us to defend and take care of them. It’s nice to know there are still people in this world with compassion and humanity.

It must have been a terrifying three weeks for the pooch, getting hungrier by the day, and mourning for its former owners all the while. I wish it a happier life from here on in.

Queenie:

Oh, for goodness sake.  Every one of us cares about the dog.  Humor has many functions, including releasing tension and lightening the mood.  Just take it for what it is and don’t read so much into it.

Peace.

Maani,

I see no humor in the suffering of animals.

A small bit of joy in a deadly world. What’s wrong with that? What is wrong with people who can’t take this for what it is without making snide remarks?
