Israel Admits Mistakes in Flotilla Raid

Some six weeks after Israeli troops raided a Gaza-bound flotilla and killed nine people aboard, thus rocking the diplomatic boat with Turkey and other nations, Israel has owned up to some “professional mistakes” that occurred during the clash. However, it should be noted that this admission was made in the context of an investigation by the Israeli military into the incident on May 31.  —KA

BBC:

The report criticised the operation’s planners for not having a back-up plan in the event of violence.

But it also said the mission had not been a failure and did not recommend any dismissals.

‘Professional and courageous’

It said there had been a lack of co-ordination between military and intelligence bodies, and preparations for the 31 May takeover of the ships had been inadequate.

“rico, suave: I think that, for you, Israel can do no right and Palestinians can do no wrong. That the killing done by Israel is always wrong, and that the killing done by Palestinians is always somehow justified.

It’s called Israel Derangement Syndrome, wherein Jews and their only nation-state are demonized and singled out for barbaric treatment. Pretty much like Leon Klinghoffer, the 69 year-old wheelchair-bound American Jew you mentioned who was tossed overboard (and murdered by drowning in the Mediterranean) by a Palestinian Arab terrorist on the Achille Lauro hijacking.”

==========

Hey nefesh...Did you leave out or forgot the war crime brutal attack on the American USS Liberty ship in the Mediterranean?

Just follow the horrific details below…and BTW the savage attack was NOT an accident/mistake!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“34 Americans MURDERED, over 170 wounded. Survivors who tried to escape the bullets, shells, rockets, torpedoes and even NAPALM were machined gunned while trying to escape in life rafts.
Who did this foul deed?  IRAN?  NO……….. Egypt? NO…  Syria? NO………
It was our good “friend” and only “ally” in the ME, ISRAEL.
During the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel attacked and tried to sink the USS Liberty belonging to its closest ally, the USA. In the two-hour assault by Israeli warplanes and torpedo boats, 34 American servicemen were killed and 171 wounded.
The Israeli story has always been that they mistook a modern US surveillance ship (flying the US flag) for an Egyptian boat. This excuse is not credible as this BBC documentary shows. A radio intercept officer recounts on camera that he heard the Israeli pilots twice warn their base that the ship was American. Fifteen years after the attack one of the pilots admitted this to the Washington Post and was arrested by Israel.
In 1997, retired Adm. Thomas Moorer accused the U.S. and Israeli governments of covering up evidence surrounding the 1967 Israeli attack on the American intelligence ship. Just before his death he asked president Clinton to pressure Israel admitting their deliberate attack.
Dead in the Water combines a dramatic reconstruction of the events with new access to former officers in the US and Israeli armed forces and intelligence services, who have decided to give their own version of events.
Dead in the Water
“During the Six-Day War, Israel attacked and nearly sank the USS Liberty belonging to its closest ally, the USA. Thirty-four American servicemen were killed in the two-hour assault by Israeli warplanes and torpedo boats.”
Actually nefresh only 75% of Israelis are Jews the other 25% are not.
You’re linking of crimes commited by the nation state of Israel to “Jews” is something that many propagandists use to make criticism of Israel a criticism of Jews as a people.
The Israeli IDF “commandos” who killed the innocent flotilla protesters, lied about it, presented false videos and then recanted are merely state sponsered war criminals who happened to be jewish, they are not the “Jews” and in no way represent the majority.
Well, Rico let’s go back to primary causes. What caused the conflict? You can take the Israeli position which is that Muslims are evil and will always be evil and the only cure is to kill them and to stop them breeding by murdering their children so they can’t grow up to create more terrorists. Or you can look at history and if you do, you see that the Muslims are no more evil than anyone else, certainly no more evil than Jews - read Joshua or any part of the Old Testament which is essentially a history of massacres and ethnic cleansing, meaning the wholesale slaughter of civilians including women and children and remember who stoned women first: not the Muslims. They are also no more evil than Christians -read the history of the Inquisition, the witch hunts and the Peasant’s War or have a look at Goya’s depiction of war in Spain and, oh yes, the holocaust.
I always find it amusing that we’re supposed to believe that cruelty towards women only occurs in Muslim countries. Study the domestic violence statistics in America, which are mind blowing and remember that women between the ages of 20 and 40 in America are most likely to be maimed, disfigured or murdered by a man they’ve left or divorced. We’re also supposed to believe that Muslims by being evicted and disposed of i.e. murdered and their houses blown to bits so Jewish settlers could take their land are somehow responsible for the violence they didn’t start.
And in terms of who is most violent and who has benefited most from violence you only have to look at two statistics: Israel has now taken 70% of the land that used to be Palestine. If the Palestinians are so violent and such killers why have they not taken back this land? Answer: because they can’t, they don’t have an army, a navy or an air force and they are amongst the poorest people in the world. They, in reality, can’t defend themselves at all against Israel and Israel knows it, so Israeli attacks on places like Gaza are done for show, a bit like a cat toying with a mouse. They are a form of theatrical cruelty done for domestic political purposes, not to defend Israel, which does not need to be defended because it has overwhelming military superiority.
The other statistic is the death rate from the invasion of Gaza in 2008: 1300 Palestinians dead, many of them babies and children and how many Israelis? 13 Israelis and 4 of them casualties caused by ‘friendly fire’. This comes from figures given to the inquiry into the invasion of Gaza by the Israeli government itself. 100 times more Palestinians died than Israelis. The average figure is that for every Israeli that dies due to this conflict three Palestinians die. So why do the Palestinians go on resisting? What else can they do? Crawl away and die and let injustice win? My problem with Israel is simple. I don’t like bullies and I hate injustice. Israel should clean up its act and give the Palestinians their state but until they do I won’t be wearing the rose coloured glasses you put on every morning before you watch the news.
This is a typically lame example of Israel Derangement Syndrome. See below….........
Ironically, the writer is from Arabia, land of stoning women, excluding Jews from even entering the country, actually owning real, live slaves, supporting Wahabbi terror around the world, and the list goes on…..
Since there are more Jews leaving Israel than immigrating there, the question arises as to the tipping point in terms of Israel’s Jewish population, below which the Zionist state is no longer viable.  Snould Israel collapse where will those who wish to leave go?  Based on current immigration patterns mostly to the West.  Settling in the West can be expensive, however, so Jews who volunteer to immigrate should be awarded stipends to carry them through the initial years in their new homes, with the money for said stipends to be obtained from oil rich Gulf states which presumably are interested in the return of Palestine to the Palestinian people.  As for those Jews who prefer to stay put, they’ll meet with the Palestinians for the purpose of figuring things out based on one equals one, with liberty and justice for all.  And what will history say of the Zionist experiment.  Just that the collapse of the last colonial enterprise heralded a new era in which oeace on earth and goodwill to all living beings reigned supreme.
No, Rico that’s not what happened. They were firing as they boarded the boat, firing randomly into a crowd of unarmed peace activists. The reason people picked up chairs and bars etc. was because these commandos were firing at them and shooting people at random. And how dare you suggest that I don’t care about the man in a wheelchair the PLO threw off a boat. I don’t believe violence ever solves anything and I don’t particularly care who is doing the violence I just don’t see violence as a solution, ever.
But you have to remember that people who are subjected to intolerable injustice will eventually resort to violence, as the Jewish settlers did to take Palestine in the first place, as the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto did when they rose up against their oppressors. However, nothing can excuse Israel’s current Fascist regime and nothing can make their activities against the Palestinians right: a people who have no army, no navy and no air force while Israel is a nuclear armed power with every chemical and biological weapon in its armoury that you can imagine and probably some you can’t. They treat the Palestinians like vermin, kidnapping and shooting their children with impunity, throwing Palestinians out of their houses on to the streets in Israel and paying no compensation for the property they steal and also using torture with impunity against prisoners who have not been charged or put on trial. In fact they have violated more UN resolutions than every other country in the world combined and they violated the Universal Declaration of Human Rights when they invaded Gaza because that declaration specifically forbids collective punishment and also the punishment of people for exercising their democratic right to elect a government.
Article 12.
•No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.
Article 17.
•(1) Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.
•(2) No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.
Article 21.
•(1) Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.
•(2) Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.
•(3) The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.
In terms of the estimated 10,000 Palestinians, including minors held without charge or trial Israel is in violation of the Magna Carta:
‘No free man shall be taken or imprisoned or be deprived of his freehold, or liberties, or free customs, or be detained, or exiled, or any other otherwise be destroyed; nor will we pass upon him, or condemn him, but by the lawful judgement of his peers, or by the law of the land. To no man will we sell, to no man will we deny or delay, justice or right.’
The question is when will the international community find the intestinal fortitude to uphold ‘the right’ and enforce the law including the convention against torture (even signed by Ronald Reagan in 1988) against Israel? It has to be done but no one has the guts to do it.
American Ken O’Keefe beaten brutally; describes disarming Israeli commandos
I said this straight to Israeli agents, probably of Mossad or Shin Bet, and I say it again now, on the morning of the attack I was directly involved in the disarming of two Israeli Commandos.
This was a forcible, non-negotiable, separation of weapons from commandos who had already murdered two brothers that I had seen that day. One brother with a bullet entering dead center in his forehead in what appeared to be an execution.
I knew the commandos were murdering when I removed a 9mm pistol from one of them. I had that gun in my hands and as an ex-US Marine with training in the use of guns it was completely within my power to use that gun on the commando who may have been the murderer of one of my brothers.
But that is not what I, nor any other defender of the ship did.
I took that weapon away, removed the bullets, proper lead bullets, separated them from the weapon and hid the gun.
I did this in the hopes that we would repel the attack and submit this weapon as evidence in a criminal trial against Israeli authorities for mass murder.
I also helped to physically separate one commando from his assault rifle, which another brother apparently threw into the sea. I and hundreds of others know the truth that makes a mockery of the brave and moral Israeli military. We had in our full possession, three completely disarmed and helpless commandos. These boys were at our mercy, they were out of reach of their fellow murderers, inside the ship and surrounded by 100 or more men. I looked into the eyes of all three of these boys and I can tell you they had the fear of God in them. They looked at us as if we were them, and I have no doubt they did not believe there was any way they would survive that day. They looked like frightened children in the face of an abusive father.
But they did not face an enemy as ruthless as they. Instead the woman provided basic first aid, and ultimately they were released, battered and bruised for sure, but alive. Able to live another day. Able to feel the sun over head and the embrace of loved ones. Unlike those they murdered. Despite mourning the loss of our brothers, feeling rage towards these boys, we let them go….”
These weren’t mistakes; they were deliberate murders.
One of the passengers obtained a notebook - carried by one
of the soldiers - that contained detailed dossiers on each passenger,
including photos; and many of the killings were done execution-style.
This was deliberate terrorism: Israel made examples of these people,
so that others would see and be terrified, and consequently afraid
to participate in future efforts to help the people of Gaza.
More mealy mouthed bullshit from the government that despises the intelligence of the rest of the world because they’ve bought their lies, their shooting 9 year old boys in the back, their holding of 10,000 Palestinian prisoners who have never been charged with a crime or put on trial, their outright contempt for the rest of the world for over sixty years. They shot Americans, they shot Australians and they beat a 64 year old diabetic American man in four different locations and then tried to make him sign a document claiming that they had not beaten him. If that man had not been removed from their clutches when he was rescued by the Greek government and escaped on a Greek ship he would have been beaten to death and ‘disappeared’. A peace activist and completely unarmed, I might add, like Rachel Corrie and the others they have murdered. To claim they made ‘mistakes’ when they came down those ropes firing at unarmed civilians is completely laughable. That’s like saying Hitler’s invasion of Poland was a mistake. It’s like saying the Warsaw Ghetto was a mistake. The real mistake was shooting Turkish citizens, shooting westerners and showing their real face to the world. And the shame is all yours nefesh for defending the indefensible, namely a ‘publicity stunt’ where at least 9 unarmed peace activists were murdered in cold blood. The Australian they shot was left to bleed to death on the deck of the boat and if his wife hadn’t been a nurse and been with him he would have died. She said that she couldn’t believe that anyone’s heart could be ‘so cruel and black’ as that of those Israeli commandos. This event was a wake up call for the west and they ignore it at their peril. Appeasing Israel hasn’t worked and it’s time they were held to account and some reason was applied to the situation instead of political corruption and muzzling of the media.
In spite of the intelligence and planning failures, the overall operation was a success: the blockade was enforced, no soldiers lost.
Now will we see any honest investigations of Turkey’s malfeasance? Not likely. The Turkish IHH, whose members brutally attacked (and nearly killed the Israeli soldiers) are affiliated with Hamas, and have just been banned by Germany and listed as a terror organization. Turkey’s shame is that they supported this disgraceful publicity stunt.
