While we are generally loath to give Fox News’ chalkboard jockey Glenn Beck our attention, the rumor that he could be taking his act off Fox News and on to other right-wing media outlets of undetermined nature—and as early as the politically conspicuous year of 2012—might be worth a moment’s consideration. There—it’s over now.  —KA

The Wrap:

And while he did not say specifically he won’t be returning to Fox after his contract ends, it sure sounded like his bags are already packed.

Beck first praised Fox chief Roger Ailes.

JAB, March 18 at 2:49 pm,

“Remember that Murdoch supported Tony Blair & Bill Clinton as well as
Dubbya. You need to understand that Murdoch wants to be where
the power is, He even briefly flirted with supporting Hilary Clinton and
then Obama (because he sensed a winner) until Ailes brought him to
his senses by warning how much that would alienate and confuse
the Fox News audience.” —JAB, March 18 at 2:49 pm

MarthaA’s answer:  You say that Rupert Murdoch doesn’t hate liberals,
but all the people you have mentioned that he supports are NOT liberals,
they are ALL Conservatives, each and every one.

Rupert Murdoch by all means supports conservatives against
liberals and his toady Roger Ailes does as well.

Rupert Murdoch doesn’t “hate liberals.”  Murdoch loves money and power. Fox
News brings him lots of money and power because he instinctively knew there are
millions of people in this country who are suckers for extreme right wing opinion.
Now, Roger Ailes may (or may not) hate liberals because he’s a former Republican official.  Remember that Murdoch supported Tony Blair & Bill Clinton as well as
Dubbya. You need to understand that Murdoch wants to be where the power is,
He even briefly flirted with supporting Hilary Clinton and then Obama (because he
sensed a winner) until Ailes brought him to his senses by warning how much that
would alienate and confuse the Fox News audience.

photoshock, March 18 at 1:53 am,

Glenn Beck is a has been cash cow.  Rupert Murdoch hates liberals,
therefore Beck stays on Rupert Murdoch welfare because nearly all
the advertisers on his show have withdrawn and if he is pulled off
the air, it is because it has become too obvious.  I really doubt old
liberal hating Rupert will pull his liberal hater off the air.

While I am loathe to say that Glenn Beck is an
opinion journalist, I am at a loss as to why the Fox
Channel would lose one of their most able cash cows.
Glenn Beck despite the controversy, draws in many
dinero’s for the Fox Channel. His lugubrious,
voluminous and copious visions of a future filled
with everything from Nazis to Islamic
Fundamentalists, all of which are banded together to
destroy the Amerikkka which he so dearly loves, are
going to be missed.
Yes, here I said it. We are going to miss the daily
rants against the socialist, communist, Islamo-
fascist, left wing liberal nut job, conspiracy theory
loving, sufferers of ID10T disease. How in the world
are we supposed to fill our time? If not for Glenn
Beck we would only have Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly
and their ilk of neo-conservative nut jobs.
Glenn Beck offered the comic relief of the day, are
we supposed to fill our time with those who we
despise? Glenn Beck, the comedy relief of the neo-con
nut jobs. Missed yes? NOT!

Comcast can build a whole Mock News Show around him .
As Fox News becomes legitimized with appearances by
President Obama I am wondering what is taking the
Corporate Propagandists so long to start another network
even farther from reality and any semblance of truth than Fox.
Get rid of Beck and Fox becomes positively mainstream.

Beck being gone is wonderful, because he enjoys demeaning
liberals way too much; but the root problem is “liberal hater” Rupert
Murdoch, and Roger Ailes his toady, who will more than likely just put
another “liberal hater” in to rag on liberals, community and unions as
long as Rupert Murdoch owns the Network, as if Jesus wasn’t a carpenter.

Not to worry about Beck. He would fit right in on NBC as a replacement for Brian what’s-his-name. NBC never reveals any news on their evening ‘news’, anyway. It’s been several weeks since they’ve mentioned anything about the two wars we’re involved in, other than Petraeus opining that ‘We’re doing good’. ‘Course. if he went to work for NBC/GE, his contract would preclude him mentioning ‘Nuclear’, ‘Japan’, ‘Reactor’, or any word starting with ‘Fuku—-’ on air. But hey, by the time he took over the show Japan will probably have sunk out of sight, anyway.

Or Glenn might replace Couric on CBS. She’s still not doing very well, which is surprising, since before she started, most folks thought she’d make a perfect anchor. (Well, she has, if you remember that the main purpose of an anchor is to slow your ship down and then bring it to a stop). That might be the best spot for Glenn, having bi-weekly re-dos of his hair would mitigate some of the boredom that sets in for his small hard core of repeat viewers. And it would keep that army of CBS hairdressers from adding to the unemployment ranks.

‘Course, Glenn doesn’t really need to work. A lot of whacko conservative women murderers/prisoners keep sending him dowries together with their marriage proposals, and that adds up to a tidy sum on a yearly basis. And rumor has it that he has enough income from the satirical cartoonists and animated TV comedy shows that use his image, to live pretty well. Not as well as Rush, but in these days of tsunamis, who wants to live on a beach, anyway?
