Is Anthony Weiner Still Sexting?

Embattled New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner was asked by New York Daily News columnist Denis Hamill during a lengthy Q-and-A on Monday whether he has stopped his sexting ways. But instead of issuing a forceful denial—surely Weiner has learned something after going through not one, but two scandals involving sending lewd online messages to various women—the ex-congressman issued a vague response.

“You can quibble about beginnings, middles and ends but what we’re talking about is over a year ago,” he said.

Instead of answering the simple “yes” or “no” question, Weiner outright dodged it. As current and former “Saturday Night Live” cast members Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler would be apt to say: “Really?!”

But the interview’s face palm moments don’t end there. When pressed about his sexting habits later during the interview, Weiner said he didn’t know whether another shoe would drop in the continuing scandal.

“I have no idea,” he said. “These are people who I thought were friends, people I trusted when I communicated with them. But who knows what they might do now. But none of it is new. It’s all old stuff.”

Weiner also added that not only is he staying in the race, but he insists he still believes he can win. But that probably makes him the only one who believes that, as the latest poll shows him dropping to the back of the Democratic candidate pack since the newest sexting scandal was revealed last week.
